Iran: ‘If they respect Iran’s interests and act accordingly, the war will end; otherwise, it will continue’

What’s going on between the U.S. and the Islamic Republic of Iran is not at all clear. Trump has announced that the two sides were on the brink of a deal many, many times:

He has tried to give the impression that the leaders of the Islamic Republic have taken such a beating that they are begging for a deal.

However, the Iranian leadership is consistently behaving as if it is the victor and the Americans are the ones who are begging for a deal:

That same attitude is clear in these reports from the state-controlled Mehr News Agency. Mohammad Mokhber, advisor to the supreme leader, said: “If they respect Iran’s interests and act accordingly, the war will end; otherwise, it will continue.” This is not how a defeated combatant speaks. They know how desperate Trump is for a deal, and they know they’re in the driver’s seat.

“Iran says proposed deal not finalized amid US backtracking,” Mehr News Agency, June 12, 2026, 1:16 p.m.:

TEHRAN, Jun. 12 (MNA) – Tehran says it remains steadfast on its principled redlines as authorities review a proposed understanding, firmly rejecting speculation a final deal has been reached despite Washington backtracking on recent military threats.

Following claims made by US President Donald Trump on Thursday about an imminent deal between Tehran and Washington, an informed source told Tasnim News Agency that the text of the understanding has not been approved up to this moment.

Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed that major sections of a potential understanding are close to completion. However, he rejected media speculations regarding a finalized agreement.

“Textually, the text has almost been finalized in its major parts. The problem is that the contradictory positions of the United States have always caused turbulence and disruption in this process,” Baghaei stated.

According to Tasnim, Washington recently attempted to alter the 14-point text proposed by Iran. However, American military and diplomatic pressure failed to force any concessions.

The report said the US has now announced through a Qatari mediator that there is no need for America’s recent amendments. Iran entirely rejected the new changes after Trump tried to shift Tehran’s positions through both military threats and Qatari mediation.

Any proposed text still requires review and finalization by relevant Iranian institutions. Until then, all other news and speculations are invalid, noted Tasnim.

The diplomatic retreat follows a sudden reversal by the US president. Hours after threatening to strike Iran “VERY HARD TONIGHT” and seize its strategic Kharg Island, Trump abruptly canceled the scheduled bombings.

“Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, I have, as President of the United States of America, canceled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening,” Trump claimed via social media.

He alleged that “final points” were approved by all involved parties, though he stressed that the illegal US naval blockade on Iranian ports would remain in place.

Iranian officials swiftly dismissed the notion of surrender, emphasizing that Tehran will determine the terms of any resolution.

Mohammad Mokhber, advisor to the Islamic Revolution Leader, told CNN that the “war will continue” until Washington “respects” Tehran’s interests.

“If they respect Iran’s interests and act accordingly, the war will end; otherwise, it will continue,” Mokhber said….

TEHRAN, Jun. 12 (MNA) – Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman says major sections of an agreement to end war has been finalized despite Washington’s contradictory positions and repeated acts of military aggression aimed at disrupting diplomatic process.

Speaking in an interview late on Thursday, Esmaeil Baghaei rejected media speculations regarding an agreement and reaffirmed Iran’s resolute and principled stance.

“Textually, the text has almost been finalized in its major parts. The problem is that the contradictory positions of the United States have always caused turbulence and disruption in this process,” Baghaei stated.

He emphasized that the Islamic Republic entered the diplomatic process with goodwill and full responsibility, while American officials have repeatedly shifted positions, raised unrealistic new demands, and even carried out military attacks during the negotiations.

Baghaei noted that since the declared ceasefire in April, both the US and the Israeli regime have repeatedly violated the truce.

In the latest attacks, American forces targeted Iran’s southern infrastructure and struck two water reservoirs in Sirik.

“While they speak of diplomacy and negotiations, they simultaneously resort to force, illegal actions, and criminal behavior,” he said.

The official made it clear that Iran has shown, both in diplomacy and on the battlefield, that it will never submit to the conditions and demands of the other side.

“Iran has proven in practice that its red lines are the interests and welfare of the Iranian nation, and there will be absolutely no compromise in this regard,” Baghaei stressed.

“Had the Islamic Republic intended to retreat from its principled positions under pressure and threats, it would have done so one and a half years ago. We have proven that we stand firm,” he added….

  1. I have war against muslim countries fatigue. We spend a lot of treasure, we destroy a lot of equipment, we hang around for awhile, we leave, and it goes right back to the way it was. Our government can never get them to end well for us. In 1946 our leaders forgot how to win a war. I’m tired. Tired of playing this game. Tired of it ending the same. I’m tired.

        I am generally against abortion. However, it is sobering to reflect that, if only, if only, the ignominious parents of just four individuals – Muhammed, Hitler, Stalin and Mao – had decided to terminate their unborn monster, humanity might have avoided hundreds of millions of deaths and untold misery. I am coming to think that that first-named monster is the author of the most misery, ignorance and long-lasting suffering.

          And from the Orient (an unfashionable term) the same smiles beam forth every day.

      Wars are extremely difficult to win. And even that is relative. You can not always determine a winner and a loser. Sometimes it is enough to just accomplish your main objectives.

      That is key. Can we get Iran to denuclearize? If the answer is yes, I am satisfied. Call it a lost war call it whatever you want. No nukes for Iran.

      But on their end, they will lose their nukes, but they will keep their terrorist proxies, will receive their bank accounts unlocked with billions, they will be able to rearm and plan for future engagements with Israel, to attempt to wipe it out somehow.

      That is the most likely scenario here where both sides receive something they really need. Listen, just get rid of the nuke program, and I will sleep better, Israel should be happy as well.

      Think about it. If Iran emptied the clip on Israel, it would nowhere near destroy Israel. Missiles and drones can only do so much damage to an entire nation. Israel can also take a beating well, at least I believe so. Israel has some great leadership, I know that will be controversial here on this site, but it is my strong belief.

      Don’t conflate this with Vietnam or Iraq.

      • Lets look back. Patton, wanted to go after the USSR, thought they would be a problem, turns out they were. Korea, a tie, MacArthur wanted to go after the North Koreans and the Chinese, thought they would be a problem, turns out they are. Vietnam, we were winning and then a media asshole came out and said the war is lost. Our leaders gave up shortly thereafter. Iraq, had it defeated in 1991, back there again 13 years later. Afghanistan, 20 years there, and now it is as if we were never there. Everyone and everything on that list are problems for us today. Excepting the USSR, Reagan declared war won that war, the Cold War, but that is all we have to show for it all.

      • From WWII to today our greatest success story is Japan. Back in the day who could have guessed those crazy people would be our greatest success story some 80 years later?

      • Think about it. The Imperial Japanese were our most formidable opponent in WWII for the simple reason that they would not quit until they were dead.

        The muslims have convinced many in to believing that they are a fearless lot that wont quit until they are dead. That is far from true, they quit all the time. Yes, the Imperial Japanese were far far better in the, I wont quit until I am dead category, than the muslims are. However, some muslims will live up to the I wont quit until I am dead description. 1.5 billion muslims but only a fraction of them are of the I wont quit until I am dead group. Now we have to determine who is an immediate threat, who might be a threat later, who knows who is a threat now or later? So we get to the point where it is prudent to consider them all a threat because you can never know.

          Now let me tell you what my general outlook is and why nobody will take this side here on jihad watch.

          I am a believer of Iran not being overthrown. I believe we should leave the Islamists in charge. I also believe the Houthis, Hamas, and Hezbollah as well should also be left in charge. And I want all of them armed and equipped well to threaten of our allies in the region. You might think I’m crazy here…

          But here is my reasoning. American foreign policy has been built upon one theory over the last century. It is at all costs to never permit the continent of Asia to unite into one unit of any kind. That means no Economic Union, no major state mergers. Because, once they are all in peace and begin integrating, our country will be bankrupt, and useless, too far away to even be relevant. We would lose super power status and this Asian conglomerate would dwarf us, control all the oil, dump the petro dollar and swift and push us out of the old world completely.

          We must divide them all. From China Japan, to India China, to Israel and the Shia, to the Shia and the Sunni, and then go deeper and divide Sunni nations against one another, and the take one step further, and divide militant groups against each other. Every time there is any merger on any level it is a loss for our power.

          Israel is our tool in that sub region, and we need to keep living, and we need it to keep being hated and divided, and we need it to help sow further divisions. The Abraham accords do not fit in with this in my opinion. And also, a polarized Iran under Islamic rule is good for our ultimate power, because it makes us useful to the rich gulf states and Israel. If Iran falls, it will just bring about a process of economic integration from Iran , Israel and the gulf and further along as well. That will then integrate with India, and so on so on. All that must be disrupted to preserve dollar hegemony, and our military power projection in the Middle East, and Asia as a whole.

          All of the most powerful nations in history, up until 1800, were in Asia as well. We can’t allow that to integrate and realize they do not need us.

          no. not really. I only disagree with two things that you wrote.

          Never permit the continent of Asia to unite into one unit of any kind. That wont happen, much too diverse.

          We must divide them all. They are already divided. They did that to themselves. They couldn’t help it as that is who they are.

          The problem they have and can never solve is everyone wants to be top dog. A diverse collection of everyone wants to be top dog hopefuls.

        • The threat is an economic union because that is how it would merge step by step, and using BRICS as a springboard for that union.

          Economic integration and economic risk would eventually nullify the odds of war significantly between these states. A common RESERVE currency would no doubt follow. We are basically useless at that point, of course counting that the gap is closing between their militaries and ours. Our bases there are just to far to deal with even a portion of this integrated power union.

          So once we are booted from the old world, it would be bedlam here, and not only this, you eventually have to begin ticking the clock on another Pearl Harbor. Remember we were isolationist before, but the old world drew us into the old world by force, Pearl Harbor and Hitler declaring war That’s why we are there in the first place. That history would repeat as this massive force moves in on nearby resources, such as Canada and South America. This at that point in time would be A Monroe doctrine hemisphere, with a weakened America, they will naturally try to cripple our power projection, not necessarily trying to conquer mainland America, but they would definitely take Hawaii and Alaska with their massive power projection.

          So yea, again I am a strong believer in no Abraham accords, a strong Israel that is hated, a Islamic world filled with of militant groups, very wealthy gulf kingdoms dependent on our military industry (massive jobs). And all of these groups must be on the petrodollar/swift system by threat of force, yet these groups should not be unified enough to gain courage to leave it.

          Similar concept in India. We support Pakistan while being on decent terms with the Hindus. We support Muslims all around India like Bangladesh.

          We scare our Allie’s Taiwan, Philippines Japan Australia etc, we need them afraid of mainland Asia, ie China Russia and even there, s Korea and Japan are not on great terms.

          In Europe as well, a very degraded Russia should keep the fools in Europe in our orbit and away from the Asian mass.

          Africa……

          I do believe the platform is already there for them to integrate slowly. BRICS. It would be too much guessing to think how it becomes one state. But it just needs to become an economic union for it to be enough to be an over night death blow to us. And not even the whole continent, just enough.

    • I think his age has caught up w/ him. He may not fall asleep, but mentally, his baser instincts, which he managed to curb until 2024, has suddenly come out into the open now that there are no barriers to him

  3. Muslims desire Allah’s Garden Paradise, and President Trump should complete their wish to win a war against Muslims, a Win-Win for everyone. Allah in Qur’an 9:111 says, “Surely Allah has purchased from the believers[Muslims] their souls and their money so that they may have the garden[Heavenly Paradise]. They engage in war for the sake of Allah, so they kill and are killed…”.

    Islam is the daily practice of Islamic Law by Muslims, and Allah commands Muslims to fight Non-Muslims to establish Islamic Law, Sharia DBA Islam, using Islam’s ideological animus against Non-Muslims so that Islam reigns supreme. Allah in Qur’an 9:29 commands, “Engage in war with those who do not believe in Allah nor in the last day[Non-Muslims]. Nor forbid what Allah and his messenger forbid[in Islamic Law], nor believe in the religion of the truth[Islam] among those who have given the book[Jews and Christians] until they pay the jizyah[Extortion Payment] out of hand and they are subdued[disgraced].”

  6. Even if a deal is reached on paper with sincere Iranian negotiators (you know they are not sincere), there are still tens of thousands of heavily armed IRGC and Basij who will sabotage and terrorize any aspect of the deal with the blessing of many of the Ayatollahs and their Allah.

    Imagine the terror for any captured Americans going in to implement any “deal”.

It’s very strange that Trump doesn’t understand that any document for “peace” which those despots of that tyranny will sign isn’t worth the paper that It’s printed on.

    A regime change in Iran is a vital necessity and likewise very important. For those so called “peace deal” with the disingenuous and lying representatives of that Islamic tyranny is a farce , a hoax and a smokescreen for further evil schemes in any peace agreement that the tyrants document that they might

    This folly means that the brutal oppressive Islamic tyrannical regime will continue to exist. Thump will then be letting the Iranian people down, terribly down, after he engaged then to revolt against and other overthrow that vicious death inflecting tyranny. That would be treachery on the part of Trump.

    Just think about all the many cruel vicious horrendously malicious repercussions of extreme misery that those fiendish despots inflect through thugs in uniform, the IRGC on all the many brave courageous Iranians who fought so nobly risking their lives for a genuine government which would respect basic natural rights for the people of Iran.

    The Iranian people do have every righteous and just right to rise up to overthrow the brutal cruel oppressive malicious murderous tyrannical regime of Iran, and then they will be free to establish a legitimate, genuine, government that ensures and respects the natural basic human rights of its citizens.

    The Iranian people definitely do have every righteous and just right to rise up together to overthrow that brutal cruel oppressive horrendously evil tyrannical Islamic regime of Iran. Then after that horrific tyranny is destroyed, the people of Iran will be free to establish a legitimate, genuine, government that ensures and respects the natural basic human rights of its citizens.

    Has President Trump failed to understand that it’s best to finish the job, as in “Get it over with” which by eliminating that horrific tyrannical regime, once and for all. ?

    As it had been, rightly and wisely. “Half-measures in war is madness and folly.”

    That oppressive regime of torture and death need to be eliminated and replaced by John Locke type of government. For Mr. Locke taught that any good government has the duty to ensure the security and safety of its citizens. So the people under the bondage and oppression of a tyrannical government do have every natural and ethical right to overthrow that terrible and oppressive tyrannical government.

    The State of Israel might have to fight this war with that “mullah regime” of Iran alone, as without the United States as her partner. For its very sad but that President Trump seems to be beguiled, as in deceived, by those liars of the dangerous and hostile Islamic regime of Iran. It’s very strange that Trump doesn’t understand that any document for “peace” which those despots of that tyranny will sign isn’t worth the paper that It’s printed on.

  9. The United States has the ability to wipe out the IRGC, the Quds Force and the police that are targeting civilians, all without sustaining loses to our troops (except through accidents). But it takes the guts to target their infrastructure, particularly water, electricity, bridges and tunnels, and gasoline/diesel bulk storage and distribution.

    Trump would go down in history as a victor if he did this. And I would have no objection to him winning the Nobel Peace Prize (peace through war) under such circumstances. We need an unconditional surrender and an occupation force until the Iranians transition to an Islam-free society and a constitutional monarchy or republic.

  10. In “The art of the deal”, Donald Trump describes making deals with rational people. Some may be very unlikable people, but at least they are rational.

  11. If by “Iran’s interests” they mean the interests of the Iranian people, then sure, that can be arranged. Get Pahlavi into power, let Iran transition into either a democratic monarchy or a republic, normalize relations w/ Israel and normal countries in the region (of which there are a few). The sanctions on Iran would automatically go away, and all the countries Iran sells oil to can help Iran recover

    If otoh they mean the interests of the islamic regime, no can do. All it empowers are mafia forces in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen, but do nothing for anyone else. There is no reason that even Arab countries should have to deal w/ those threats

  12. The leadership of the IRG can absolutely NOT be trusted. That agreement might as well be written on toilet paper and flushed as soon as they sign it.
