In UK, a Police Officer Is Fired After Asking a Few Questions About Islam

In the U.K., a police community support officer, asked to attend a “diversity training session,” happened at the meeting to ask a few questions about Islam. He at no time said anything derogatory about the faith, but his inquiries caused him to be dismissed from the force. A Christian police community support officer lost his job for raising questions about Islam in a diversity training session.

Luke Salmons, 46, was dismissed from North Yorkshire Police and placed on a barred list following a conversation about Gaza with a Muslim colleague.

He successfully appealed against his sacking – but has never received an apology from the force.

Mr Salmons has now opened up on the horror ordeal, which has raised further fears over free speech in Britain and police forces’ diversity obsession in the wake of Henry Nowak’s murder.

Henry Nowak was a white English boy whom a Sikh stabbed to death. The police who arrived at the scene cuffed Nowak while he lay dying instead of calling for a doctor or an EMT ambulance, apparently believing his killer’s claims that Nowak had uttered “racist” remarks directed at the Sikh. The police have been so brainwashed to believe in white “racism” and so disinclined to believe in the guilt of brown people that the result was the death of Henry Nowak.

The father-of-two from Harrogate spent eight years in policing after two-decades in construction.

He told The Telegraph on Friday: “I loved my job and I was good at it. I was well respected as a PCSO and my colleagues said they loved working with me and couldn’t understand what was happening.

“But an overzealous inspector took against me and that was the end of my career, even though I had done nothing wrong.”

Mr Salmons described the October 2024 training day at Northallerton headquarters as “indoctrination”.

“The whole day was pretty much about Islam. At one point the trainers walked up and down the room for several minutes saying ‘Islam is a religion of peace’ over and over again. It was bizarre,” he said.

The meeting was supposed to be devoted to “diversity training,” but instead it turned out to be a brainwashing session meant to convince the attendees of the wonderfulness of Islam, with trainers repeating “Islam is a religion of peace.”

A Muslim sergeant invited questions during the session, with staff specifically told they could speak freely.

Mr Salmons then asked the officer about Hamas and terrorist attacks carried out in the name of Islam.

The pair had a “really good discussion”, the ex-PCSO added, before he asked his Muslim colleague “what he understood jihad to mean”.

“There was no problem,” he said.

His colleague then invited him for coffee to continue their conversation.

His Muslim colleague, despite his outward friendliness, invited Salmons to have coffee with him in order to entrap Salmons into making statements about Islam that could then be used against him. We can well imagine how that colleague described “jihad” when asked by Salmons to explain: “In its most important sense, it means the ‘struggle’ to master oneself, to be a better person. Some people — Islamophobes — have hijacked the word to claim it means violence against non-Muslims. Nothing could be further from the truth.”

Mr Salmons said: “I believed I was on safe ground when the training sessions invited open discussion. I quickly discovered that questioning Islam is now treated as ‘wrongthink’ within North Yorkshire Police.”

Before the coffee meeting, Mr Salmons brought a book to work called “Answering Jihad” by Muslim-turned-Christian author Nabeel Qureshi.

Two colleagues then saw it in his locker, took photos of it and reported him as a “risk.”…

Police officers spying on their colleagues and reporting supposedly telltale signs of “Islamophobia” among their fellows remind us of how the Stasi operated in East Germany. And what was the worrisome evidence that they discovered, practically proving that Pfc. Salmons might be such an Islamophobe? That he possessed a book, by a former Muslim, called Answering Jihad.

A disciplinary hearing in July 2025 formally dismissed him for gross misconduct and added his name to the College of Policing barred list….

What was Salmons’ “gross misconduct” that led to his dismissal? He said nothing derogatory about Islam or about Muslims. All he did was ask a few questions. He asked about Hamas’ attacks on Israel. He asked about the meaning of jihad. That was it. And for his questions about the faith, and his refusal to mindlessly accept the notion that Islam is “a religion of peace,” he lost his job.

Sense in the end prevailed, when at his appeal Pfc. Salmons’ dismissal was reversed, and reversed so quickly that Salmons did not even need to finish his prepared argument.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “North Yorkshire Police is an inclusive employer and respects the rights of all individuals to their beliefs.

“The expression of those beliefs must always be with due consideration of respect and courtesy in line with our force values and behaviours framework.”

The spokesman claimed Mr Salmons had been referred to the professional standards department after “reports of concern from a number of colleagues about his behaviour and views.”

Let me guess. Were those “colleagues” who were “concerned” with his behavior and views Muslims? Or were they non-Muslims who have been so brainwashed as to act as spies reporting on colleagues who were insufficiently enthusiastic about the “religion of peace”? Were they offended because he actually took seriously his right to ask questions about the faith, or to find out more about it by reading on his own?

Salmons actually had believed that at a meeting on “diversity training,” where everyone was encouraged to ask questions, he could indeed do so, but when his questions turned out to be about Islam and its conceivable connection to the conduct of Hamas members on Oct. 7, 2023, and when, furthermore, he was found to possess a book called Answering Jihad, he immediately became an Enemy of the State, clearly an “Islamophobe” who deserved dismissal from the police force.

In the end, his dismissal was reversed, but that was only after a months-long ordeal when he remained at home, not knowing if he would get his job back, or if his having been labelled an “Islamophobe” would prevent him from finding gainful employment elsewhere. The likely effect of his example is obvious: to avoid trouble, from reprimands to dismissal, stay away from questioning Islam. Keep your mouth shut. Go with the party line, the one repeated by the trainers at the diversity training session Pfc. Salmons endured: “Islam is a religion of peace.” Keep on saying it until you begin to believe it. Yours not to reason why.
