The municipality of Tel Aviv-Jaffa has appointed Amir Badran as deputy mayor, making him the second Arab citizen to hold the post in Israel’s second-largest city.
Badran, 54, has served on the Tel Aviv City Council for a decade and is chairman of the Arab-Jewish party Hadash’s local branch. His appointment came after Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai reached a municipal coalition agreement with part of the opposition that included, among other measures, commitments to promote several projects in Jaffa, the city’s historically Arab district and home to much of its Arab population.
“A surprising and joyful announcement: As of today, I am the Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo. Yes, an Arab Deputy Mayor in one of the largest cities in the country,” Badran posted on X on Monday, using the Hebrew name for Jaffa.
“Surprising? Maybe. But it didn’t happen overnight,” he continued. “This is the result of years of public action, of joint struggle, and of steadfast belief in Jewish-Arab partnership, in equality, and in a different kind of politics.”…
When the usual suspects scream that “Israel is an apartheid state,” we must wearily reply as follows: In Israel, Arabs serve in the Knesset and sit on the Supreme Court. An Arab was recently the director of the largest bank in Israel, Bank Leumi. Jewish and Arab doctors and nurses together serve Jewish and Arab patients in the same hospitals. Jews and Arabs play in the same orchestras and on the same sports teams. Jews and Arabs own businesses together, everything from restaurants to high-tech startups. Jews and Arabs enjoy the same political, economic, and religious rights. There is only one point on which Jews and Arabs are treated differently. Jews must, while Arabs may, serve in the military.
And now, we are again reminded that there is no “apartheid” in Israel by the new appointment of an Arab, Amir Badran, as the Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel’s second largest city and its business hub. The likes of Albanese, Mamdani, and Van Hollen will undoubtedly ignore such news. But some people, who have not yet committed themselves to consigning Israel to the outer darkness, will pay attention, bethink themselves, and admit that, after all, there is no evidence of “apartheid” in Israel. And that’s one small step for mankind.

The lies continue about Israel. The false accusations about the Jewish state never stop and which Jewish state is far more productive and decent than ANY majority Muslim state on the planet.

What Muslim/Islamic country allows anyone NOT islamic to participate in any public office other than maybe garbage collectors. Hell many of our so called muslim partners won’t allow tourism or allow you to bring a bible into the country.

I did a search in Brave, and it turns out that he is a Palestinian communist: they could say nothing about his personal faith. But if this is the case, he is their version of Zohran Mamdani. Hardly something to celebrate. I can understand in NYC, but Tel Aviv? Have the Israelis gone totally mad? Here they are fighting a war, and they elect someone who would have been a member of the PFLP or DFLP had he lived in Judea or Samaria
I do think that it’s fair to celebrate the achievements of Christian Arabs who are Israelis. mohammedans ought to be judged on a case by case basis, like the mohammedan Israeli who on October 7th stood up to Hamas
