In a high school in northern Italy, flags of “Palestine” have been on display in classrooms throughout the year. The school administrators made no objection. But when two students decided to display a banner that read “Italia agli Italiani” — “Italy for the Italians” — the administration was furious. The two students were given “bad conduct” grades and ordered to take an additional class, presumably re-educating them as to the need to be “welcoming” to migrants. A high school in the Italian city of Cesena that recently punished two students for displaying a banner reading “Italy for the Italians” is facing fresh scrutiny after Palestinian flags and “Free Palestine” signs were reportedly displayed in classrooms without disciplinary action.
The claims stem from footage published by the Italian newspaper Il Giornale, which reported that Palestinian flags were displayed in several classrooms at Monti High School during lessons. Students interviewed by the newspaper, speaking anonymously, also said that “Free Palestine” signs were visible in the school at various points throughout the academic year.
The reports come weeks after the school drew national attention for sanctioning two students for displaying a banner reading “Italia agli italiani” (“Italy for the Italians”), a decision that triggered a wave of reactions regarding the limits of freedom of expression within educational institutions.
According to Italian media reports, the students received a negative conduct grade and were required to complete an additional educational assignment. Being patriotic was punished with re-education….
Why is the simple statement that “Italy is for the Italians” to be banned? Here’s why: It reflects an impermissible desire for the country not to be overrun with migrants. Only “racists” and “Islamophobes” could possibly think such things. Italy should keep its doors open wide to migrants, especially those from Muslim lands who have made such a notable contribution to the country’s wellbeing. Diversity, please repeat after me, is our strength. As for the flag of “Palestine” being displayed in classrooms throughout the year, that display is an admirable expression of support for the Palestinians, a people whom the world well knows are the most oppressed in the world, as they strive to maintain their dignity, and to keep their hopes for nationhood alive, in the face of the colonial-settler apartheid genocidal Israel, and its jackbooted stormtroopers.
What do you think would happen if students brought in and displayed an Israeli flag at the high school in Cesena? All hell would break loose. The administrators at the Monti high school would at once seize that flag, claiming that it had to be banned as “too controversial” — unlike the flag of “Palestine,” a country that does not exist, and whose supporters hope will come into being as the 23rd Arab state, built on the ruins of the only Jewish state.

I Get what is being said in this report/article and it is terrible what is going on of course but honestly,I wish authors wouldn’t write articles with statements that are obviously sarcasm to us ‘in the know’ ’cause say one would have sent same article to someone who is Not ‘in the know’/has no knowledge on/of these subjects and/or what is really being said,the person receiving and then reading the article,just may not/probably won’t get the point of the statement or words being used. That school administration that “caved”in”t o Muslim pressure groups. On the other hand did they accept bribes or maybe that administration was thoroughly infiltrated by stealth jihadist,, that should not have been allowed to happen. Nevertheless ,whatever the situation was, that didn’t say much for them.
