Chicago TV Station WBBM Helps Hamas-Linked CAIR Attack Robert Spencer

Chicago TV station WBBM has helped CAIR attack Robert Spencer by broadcasting the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)’s demand that a private Christian University cancel a speaking appearance of Robert Spencer this Friday, June 12.

A Muslim civil rights group is urging Concordia University to cancel an upcoming conference. The Council on  American Islamic Relations or CAIR says the event would give a platform to Robert Spencer and Megan Basham. Two speakers the advocacy group says are Islamophobic. They’re now calling on the university to reverse its decision before it kicks off on Friday. We have reached out to Concordia about these claims and are waiting to hear back.

One might think that this is all part and parcel of being a public figure such as Spencer. But it is a bit more complicated than that.

In the first place, it isn’t just Spencer whom CAIR wants canceled; CAIR also wanted Megan Basham silenced. CAIR uses the word “platformed,” as if Concordia’s allowing a speaker to appear is institutional endorsement or amplification of harm.

WBBM never told viewers what the conference was about, what the speakers were scheduled to say, or what evidence supports CAIR’s “Islamophobic” label. CAIR got the accusation on television before Concordia or the speakers had a chance to answer. Nor did WBBM make any attempt to contact Spencer for comment.

Nor is it just these speakers and the university. WBBM has taken CAIR’s side in stories involving alleged anti-Muslim incidents, discrimination complaints, political controversies, the East Bank Club dispute, the substitute-teacher allegation involving a “Palestinian” student, demands for the resignation of an Illinois state senator, claims surrounding a Muslim-owned jiu-jitsu business, and other disputes. In these stories, CAIR is usually treated as a civil rights authority. Its targets are treated as the problem.

And it isn’t just WBBM, either. All network affiliates nationwide have furthered the near-weekly pattern of CAIR using its media access to attack the public or elected officials has been furthered for nearly eight years now.

This is the 24th week of the year, and CAIR has targeted 20 people and or things 20 times already. Of course, there is never any discussion of who CAIR is, where it came from, what court cases it is involved in, etc. Instead, CAIR gets to attack you, your family, children, judges, police officers, businesses, schools, and anything and everything.

The station never explored the conference itself, the speakers’ actual views, the basis for the “Islamophobic” label, and the responses of Concordia University and the speakers before elevating a deplatforming campaign into a news story, while avoiding naming CAIR as what it is, the American branch of Hamas.

  1. Having g loved in Chicago for twenty plus, this is not surprising at all. Communist WBBM. Lefty Chicago supports illegals, Islam and Palestine. Votes and all that. The citizens are an after thought as the politicians scramble to hold their comfortable lifestyles and use of taxpayer money for their b.s. So glad we left last summer.

      • My husband grew up in Chicago–but it kept getting crazier. He left a few decades ago–but it keeps getting worse there.

        • gravenimage, my wife and I sold the house in Lincoln Park in August of 2025. In 2022 someone tried to car-jack me with my daughter the night before Thanksgiving. He shot at my kid and that was the last thing he did, ever.
          The aldercreature squashed the story as you can’t have violent crime in Lincoln Park. Bad for grafting and bribes. It still made it on to the local news. Chicago is in a final death spiral. We were facing a 65k property tax bill and decided that was enough. Put the baby in college and are on our way to Florida. With Brandon Johnson at the helm yhere is no way to right the ship. People are leaving if they can. The best thing I could have done for my mental health. Nice to visit my doctors and dentist, but do not ever want to go back for more than two nights.   2. Again can be seen that Islamic organizations like CAIR are a problem but the even bigger problem is the ignorance and idiocy of the media in facilitating the totalitarian ideology which is Mo’s profoundly warped and liberty-destroying creed.

    Islam sucks but so does most of the Western media. Neither deserves any regard or respect, only contempt.

  3. I don’t get it. I’ve been following Spencer before anybody . He only laid out the facts since day one. I never heard him say violence or play games. Check the track record.

    He expose Muslim brotherhood before anybody . That is why CAIR is after him because they want western fools asleep. Islam does not mean peace it means sit down and shut up.

      I have been following Jihad Watch, and Robert for more than 20 years.

      After 9/11, I looked for some information about islam and mohammed, and got the book by Karen Armstrong.

      After reading 20 or so pages, I realized her book was total (yes repulsive) garbage..it was an apotheosis. It made my skin crawl. I truly had a physical reaction to that book and could not tolerate it in my house.
      Probably the only book, I ever put into the trash.

      Then I found the internet……and, if any of you remember, LGF. Before the transformation and his breakdown.

      I almost saw Robert at one of his presentations, but got lost driving, and missed it.

        Maybe because we are just older. But I had an idea about Muslims in the 50s. We obviously did not know what we know today, but I was very skeptical of them always when we served side by side. I hated it I always got stuck with Muslims somehow!

        Spencer used to be on Fox, but I don’t know what happened, do you? I think the Saudis took over a chunk and they want tone down Islam critics. =no Spencer

I do hope Robert will not allow for this to happen: his speaking tours are quite fact filled, and without the histrionics of the Islamic imams who shout about Israel needing to be destroyed and America needing to be destroyed- none of whom have ever been called for cancellation by such as C.A.I.R.

    It is certain that relations between Islam and the West’s citizens are deteriorating as a result of legal, illegal, migration impact and the periodic expression of jihad upon the natives.

    CAIR is losing in its verbal war to manipulate public opinion of Islam while the “insane” jihadis are teaching by doctrinal example.

    Mr. Spencer’s partcipation is being opposed by CAIR because it aligns with truth and would have impact like an idea whose time has come.

  6. The university should say to cair and the station: MYOB.

    Taking a cue from an old song: cair don’t allow no Truth tellin around here. We don’t care what muzlims don’t allow; we’ll tell the Truth about them anyhow.

    Many media outlets carried the lies about biden….denying his non-working brain was not working and lying to support him as pretend president. Recently, some have feigned surprise and anger when speaking about his decline and inability, even asking jill why she lied.

    So, these outlets may come back and admit that cair muzzies are kimodo dragons and are demanding innocent people to be gutted for them. The station may regret taking the scummy side.
