Carney tells Jews: ‘When you come to Canada… leave behind your wars and your animosities’

On June 1, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney vowed to combat antisemitism in Canada, “citing a surge in hate crimes.” On June 2, Carney addressed a Toronto synagogue about antisemitism, and said: “When you come to Canada… leave behind your wars and your animosities.” Would he readily say those words in a mosque, or to an angry pro-Hamas/Palestinian “resistance” group?

The most extraordinarily limp, ineffectual line in Mark Carney’s comprehensively limp, ineffectual address on the growing scourge of antisemitism in Canada, delivered Monday afternoon at a synagogue in Toronto, might have been this: “When you come to Canada, you bring your faith, your tradition, your language, your story. You leave behind your wars and your animosities.”

Where do you even to begin with that?

Two-and-a-half years ago, Hamas committed a pogrom in southern Israel, killing more than 800 civilians as well hundreds of others, and taking more than 250 hostages (dozens of which were later killed). Hamas leaders are smart enough to know hell would then rain down on them — and more to the point, on innocent Gazans living above their precious tunnels. Perhaps they underestimated just how much hell. But a fair number of Jews, both in Israel and the United States — and presumably Canada, although I’m not aware of any comparable polling — believe Israel went “too far” in its response in Gaza: 39 per cent in the U.S., the Pew Research Center found in September 2025.

You shouldn’t harass people in their homes or businesses, as “pro-Palestinian” supporters have taken to doing, no matter what the polls say. My point is simply to underscore what’s at the root of it: Not politics, but pure, crystalline antisemitism. Canadian and American Jews can’t vote against Benjamin Netanyahu.

The precise equivalent would be for Jewish Canadians to march through Arab and Muslim neighbourhoods waving Israeli flags in protest over what happened on October 7, 2003. But of course, Jewish Canadians don’t do that sort of thing. (Nor do the vast majority of Muslim Canadians, of course. One of the most frustrating things about watching police escort horrible people around Jewish neighbourhoods, protesting the residents’ Jewishness, is how few protesters there are. Police seem to have no problem telling counter-protesters to go away in order to keep the peace. Why not the protesters themselves?)

But here we are. Western Jews who have to take it on the chin for Hamas’s pogrom against Jews, and an Israeli response over which they have no control whatsoever….

    • 1. We welcome everybody into Canada. The only thing is Carney is trying to tell Jews is, you should leave your foreign conflict and baggage at the door. You shouldn’t be bringing that mentality into our country. You are insinuating anti semitism. All the other visitors, immigrants and people leave their problems at the door. We don’t wave foreign flags, we don’t support foreign wars. That’s all, very simple. So stop with your MAGA propaganda. Trump was named the most anti semitic by various Jewish rights organizations, not anyone from Canada. It’s from your right wing ideology.

      2. Canada is not in a real recession. This is only because of reduced migration which was driving the economy GDP numbers in the past. Nothing is wrong in Canada.

      3. Muslims simply do not conduct attacks in Canada. Canada is very warm to all comers who come with good intentions. They have the freedoms to say what they want, as do all groups here, unlike where you live. Totalitarian Trump. Your country is more anti semitic.

      4. Exposing the historic crimes of Israel is not a crime here in Canada, because we are free unlike in “your area”. Muslims, white Canadians, Hindus, Buddhists all walk hand in hand in support of Palestine. Most Canadians polled stand with justice. I haven’t been personally, but you should see the size of the pro Palestine marches. These are expressions of solidarity an support. Civilians are being slaughtered indiscriminately by Israeli troops, a war Netanyahu started and dragged your country into. Now you are losing. Sorry to break it to you, but Canadians stand with Iran. 🇮🇷

There have been record demonstrations in Montreal & Toronto, but in support of the Iranian people & Pahlavi, who want the war to continue until the regime is overthrown. At the same time, Carney Jew-hatred is fully anti-Canadian. Indeed, only a supremely hypocritical and unscrupulous politician pursuing Muslim Brotherhood votes and a rank factual ignoramus maximus like the incumbent PM of Canada (!) can state that “Muslim values are Canadian values” (when those are eternally incompatible in everything , from women’s rights – remember the Yahyas Mister PM- to…dogs) or deny – like Catherine Connolly, Pedro Sanchez and Recep Erdoğan- Israel’s right to defend itself against Iran/Turkey/Qatar- sponsored relentless Hamas/Islamic Jihad, HizbAllah and Houthi terrorism emanating from Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Judea/Samaria and our universities.

This politically correct, awful oversight of sorts, ties into his baseless antisemitic accusation of Jews bringing to Canada their “wars and ..animosities” ; the perfidious character who utters such nonsense will have to deny ever having heard of Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, the Khadrs, Momin and Mahboub Khawaja, Younus Khatrada, Muhammad Elmasri, Laith Maarouf and countless others. After all, NONE of the attacks on individual Muslims and Islamic institutions in Canada (or the US, Australia or Europe) were carried out by Jews.         • The history of Jewish doctors in the USA is not very much better, including university admission quotas, and problems getting internships and hospital admitting privileges. So Jews built their own hospitals. Like Cedars Sinai, and many others .

          That is why the tiny population of Jews have had over 40 “Jewish” hospitals in USA. Due to hospital sales and hospital consolidations about 22 now remain.

          as a side note, Jews have been awarded 26% of all Nobel prizes in medicine while Jews are about 16 million people out of a world population of over 8 Billion,.
