The Iranians just downed an Apache helicopter that was patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz to make sure there was no breaching of the American blockade of Iranian ports. Both pilots were rescued after two hours in the water, unharmed. President Trump was quick to insist that the US “must of course respond,” and that retaliation would soon be coming, and it did. Iran targeted several Gulf countries after the U.S. launched attacks on the Middle Eastern nation earlier on Tuesday stateside.
Jordan’s military said Wednesday local time that it had intercepted five Iranian missiles, according to state media, while Bahrain sounded alarms and Kuwait activated its air defenses to intercept “hostile aerial targets.”
U.S. forces on Tuesday evening launched strikes against Iran “in response to yesterday’s downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter,” U.S. Central Command said.
The “self-defense strikes” are “a proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression,” Centcom said in an X post….
Less than a day earlier, Trump claimed that a deal with Tehran could be reached as soon as this week.
The two sides are in the final stages of a “very, very good deal” that will stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons and fully reopen the Hormuz Strait “immediately upon signing,” Trump said late Monday night after leaving an NBA Finals game in New York City.
It doesn’t sound as if it will be a “very good deal” for Israel. Vice President JD Vance has suggested that “Israel may not like it.” It likely will have nothing to say about Iran’s arsenal of ballistic missiles. Nor will it address reigning in Iran’s support for its terrorist proxies — Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.
Just two days before, Trump was on the phone, warning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to respond to an Iranian attack in which 11 ballistic missiles were launched at northern Israel. Netanyahu responded that Israeli missiles had already been launched. That may have been true, or it may have been false, but at least Israel was not put in a position of “defying Trump.”
What is most of note, however, is the request itself. Iran attacked Israel, and Trump tried to stop Israel from retaliating. After all, he says, “I call the shots.” Two days after he telephoned Netanyahu, Iran lets loose a much smaller attack — not launching 11 ballistic missiles but shooting down a single helicopter — and Trump tells the world, without the slightest hint that he recognizes his own absurd hypocrisy, that even though the two American pilots were rescued from the waters of the Gulf, ’‘Nevertheless, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack.”
The United States must, and Israel must not, respond. Different strokes for different folks.

A favorite quote of most of us on the Right was & is, “If they didn’t have double standards, the Left would have no standards at all”. Turns out that this is true for Trump as well
I don’t wish it, but if another Iranian attack ends up actually killing an American, Trump won’t have the support of either faction of MAGA. The Tucker faction will accuse him of sacrificing that hapless enlistee for Israel. While the side that supports overthrowing the islamic regime and solving this issue permanently will point out that this was a result of prolonging this conflict and getting into negotiations w/ a party that wasn’t even identifiable as being capable of delivering on any “deal”.
The best thing Trump can do now would be to start withdrawing US forces, provided he gives Israel the green light to solve this Iran mess in whichever way they see fit. That way, he won’t risk getting any American killed. Hopefully Israel can then work w/ Pahlavi on destroying whatever is left of the instruments of oppression of the regime, and then King Reza can finally put his money where his mouth is, and make that slogan on the Iranian street “Pahlavi bemigarde” become reality

It’s just far too late for any type of “diplomatic settlement’.” The reason why this is so is because the massive human carnage is so horrendous that those murderous despots of Iran must be brought to justice. Likewise, their tyrannical Islamic regime need to be destroyed.

President Trump has the good judgment and wisdom to issue the order for American Air Force strikes targets which totally obliterated that Islamic tyranny’s military targets is both appropriate and necessary, As fitting in the similar war tactic expressed by the former US President. Thomas Jefferson, who had the wisdom to understand that specific situations military might needs to be used , For Mr., Jefferson had , rightly written “With every barbarous people…force is law.”
So that the Iranian people might be now able fight back against that horrendous tyrannical regime and then establish a legitimate government, which ensure and respects basic human rights..

Regime change has failed. China and Russia have given Iran advanced weapons. The US is going to get attacked as long as it stays anywhere near Iran. Trump can either nuke Iran, or cut and run & try to get the world slowly back to normal. Which of those options do you want?
