The highest-paid staffer on Washington, D.C., mayoral candidate Janeese Lewis George’s campaign has a social media history showing deep-seated hostility toward Israel and adherence to far left views on the Middle East, according to a review of the staffer’s public posts.
Makia Green, Lewis George’s political director, posts frequently on Instagram, often a mix of photos or videos of herself alongside TikTok videos that she downloads and shares to her own profile. Green is a local activist who founded a nonprofit called Harriet’s Wildest Dreams that advocates for prison abolition.
Makia Green advocates — that’s what “activists” do, they advocate — for “prison abolition.” Now why didn’t anyone else think of that? Running the local, state, and federal prison systems costs governments and taxpayers at least $80 to $115 billion annually. When adding police, courts, and the financial burden placed on families, the aggregate economic impact reaches $445 billion to $1 trillion per year. So if we get rid of all the prisons, think of how much our governments, at every level, will save. What’s more, some of that saved money can be distributed to people if they promise, on a cross-my-heart-and-hope-to-die basis, that they won’t commit crimes as long as they keep being paid. No wonder Makia Green is so well paid. She’s earned it.
In the months after the Oct 7, 2023, Hamas attacks in Israel, Green’s posts on Instagram, where she has 6,400 followers, regularly centered on anti-Israel advocacy.
One video she shared in Dec. 2023 called Israel an “imaginary state.” Another post that month featured a video with someone saying “Israel is a bitch, so evil.”
In November, weeks after the Oct. 7 attacks, Green shared a video of a woman who called it “sickening” that Israeli actress Gal Gadot was screening footage of Hamas’ atrocities….
Green’s posts reveal a deep commitment to BDS, including calls to boycott Starbucks because of its support for “genocide.” (Starbucks was the target of anti-Israel activists in the fall of 2023 because of its posture toward pro-Palestinian members of its union.)
“My views are my own,” Green’s Instagram bio states. She did not respond to a request for comment….
Your views may be “your own,” Ms. Green, but your boss’s refusal to either admonish or fire you for your nauseating posts and reposts on social media about Israel, tells us something about her, and we are right to judge her accordingly.
At a candidate forum hosted by the Jewish Community Relations Council on Thursday, Lewis George was asked to specify her views on Zionism — an issue that has become a flashpoint in the race after she said in a Democratic Socialists of America endorsement questionnaire that she would reject the “Zionist lobby.”
Lewis George said at the event that she would not exclude any segment of the Jewish community but avoided sharing her opinion about Zionism. She is a member of the Metro DC DSA chapter and earned the group’s endorsement in the mayoral race.
If Lewis George refuses, before a Jewish audience, to give her opinion about Zionism, that can only mean one thing: she’s against it. She doesn’t think the Jewish state has a right to exist. She believes it is a colonial-settler apartheid genocidal state, just as her senior staffer does, but in front of such an audience, she prudently decided to keep mum. However, she stated her view in a questionnaire she filled out for the Democratic Socialists of America.

“I will refrain from going on any political junkets to Israel. I will also not attend events focused on obfuscating the realities of occupation or promoting Zionism and apartheid,” Lewis George wrote in the DSA questionnaire.
I would have thought she’d be delighted to visit Israel, where she could see for herself the evidence of that apartheid she keeps talking about.
Asked whether she supports BDS, Lewis George did not answer, but said she supports “the right of all people, including Palestinians, to use nonviolent strategies like boycotts and calls for divestment to build a more just world.”…
Yes, of course. Whenever we think of the Palestinians in Hamas or in Fatah, we think of their “nonviolent strategies” that have been so much in evidence.
The failure to respond to those repeated inquiries can only mean one thing: of course her senior staffer, Ms. Green, advises Lewis George on Israel and the “Palestinians,” and of course their views align.
Green is not merely full of anti-Israel animus; she is obsessed with Israel and its putative crimes. It seeps into most everything she puts online. And of course, she also hates the Great Satan, the United States of America.
In one post with a “ceasefire” caption, from Jan. 2024, Green boosted a video that escalated from criticism of the president to the entire country.
“F*** the United States government and every member that belongs to that shit,” a woman said in the video.
Does our nation’s capital deserve a mayor whose senior staffer promotes a video in which someone says “F**k the United States government”? What should we think of that staffer? And what should we then think of her boss, the candidate for mayor of Washington who pays her handsomely, and listens to her nauseating opinions on Israel without any hint of disagreement?

It is quite longstanding and has a myriad of causes. In the Christian world, it’s rooted in Jews rejecting Jesus. In the Islamic world, it’s rooted in Jews rejecting Mohammed.
And then there are many other reasons, at least one of which does not redound to the credit of Jews in our era, to wit, stupidly identifying with liberal causes when any good that liberalism did for Jews in the past has seen that ship sail long ago.
Conclusion: Jews are overwhelmingly innocent but not completely so. The fact that so many American Jews remain Democratic voters proves that so often times people go against their own interests. Complex world. Stupid and foolish world often times as well.
