Yet it’s quite clear from this article that the Taliban are ordering all of Afghan society according to Sharia. The Taliban themselves would be the first to tell the UN that their child marriage law was Islamic, and the UN wouldn’t dream of uttering the slightest critical word about Islam. So it pretends, in the teeth of the evidence, that child marriage has nothing to do with Islam, and castigates the Taliban accordingly. This is one of the crowning absurdities of our absurd age.

The UN has condemned a Taliban law recognising child marriage after new rules were introduced containing specific guidelines for ‘virgin girls’ and children ‘reaching puberty’.
According to the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, the regulation includes a section addressing girls who reach puberty while already married.
The organisation said the provision effectively legitimises child marriage under Taliban rules because it regulates marriages involving minors rather than banning them.
The UN mission also raised alarm over rules stating that a girl’s silence upon reaching puberty can be interpreted as consent to marriage, including provisions stating a ‘virgin girl’ who remains silent when asked about marriage can be treated as agreeing to wed.
The organisation warned the measures undermine the principle of free and full consent and risk eroding protections for children.
The 31-article regulation called ‘Principles of Separation Between Spouses’ outlines rules governing the dissolution of marriages under an endless list of religious and legal conditions.
These include child marriage, breastfeeding relations, forced separation, missing husbands, apostasy and accusations of adultery.
Significant attention is given to the section on ‘khiyar al-bulugh’ (‘option upon puberty’), an Islamic legal provision that allows for the annulment of a marriage contracted during childhood once the person reaches puberty.
According to Article 5, if a child’s marriage is arranged by relatives other than their father or grandfather, it is legally valid provided the spouse is socially compatible and the dowry is appropriate.
The regulation states that the child may later seek annulment after reaching puberty, but only through a court order, according to independent Afghan outlet Amu TV.
The rules also grant familial patriarchs wide authority over child marriages, but state that marriages may be invalidated if guardians are considered abusive, mentally unfit or morally corrupt….
The regulation also gives Taliban judges broad powers to intervene in marital disputes regarding issues such as apostasy, ‘turning away from Islam’, prolonged absence of a husband and accusations of adultery….
As part of the new law, husbands are permitted to beat their wives as long as there is no serious bodily harm….
Islamic laws in Afghanistan have become so restrictive that even barbers are facing detention for cutting men’s beards too short.
In January, the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice said it was now ‘obligatory’ to grow beards longer than a fist, doubling down on an earlier order.
Minister Khalid Hanafi said it was the government’s ‘responsibility to guide the nation to have an appearance according to sharia’, or Islamic law.
Officials tasked with promoting virtue ‘are obliged to implement the Islamic system’, he said….

No. Male circumcision is entirely different and supported by advanced medicine. It does not interfere whatsoever with sexual pleasure and performance, actually makes it less likely one will contact a STD and, as well, while penile cancer is rare it has never been diagnosed in a circumcised male. The only negative about male circumcision is if it’s done wrong, but then you can say that about any surgery.

Boys should be taught how to keep their genitalia washed and cleansed. Very easy to teach. Males were born with a foreskin for a reason.

Male circumcision is not necessary whatsoever. A boy should be taught how to wash and cleanse his genitals properly. Those who choose to have their sons circumcised generally following their religious teachings. Males are born with a foreskin for some reason! Modern medicine encourages it for likely the funds earned to snip it off of newborn males 🙁
Female Genital Mutilation is just barbaric and so 7th century. I heard about it from a Somalian nursing student in the West who wanted to get the word out so it should be stopped bc it’s done to young girls in the West by doctors from their culture!

Jupiter, worked in a care home, the men there were unable to properly wash their not circumcised penises and because the nurses would not do so the foreskin became fused and could not retract.
Then you have men who do not wash properly as well, the stench is nasty.
