The Rector of the Paris Mosque Is Offended

Recently across France something new, honoring something old, has sprung up: municipalities have started to hold public banquets of traditional French fare, as a way of honoring French cuisine and French history at the same time. But this act of tribute to the past, a solidifying of social cohesion through food, has angered the Rector of the Paris Mosque. The controversy surrounding the banquets organised by Le Canon français shows no sign of abating. The initiative, launched by two young entrepreneurs to revive traditional banquets centred on culinary specialities from across France, has come under fire from the press and the Left on the grounds that it perpetuates an ideology of exclusion and promotes far-right ideas. The rector of the Paris Mosque has spoken out publicly to, in turn, attack these festive gatherings which bring together several thousand enthusiastic guests in towns and cities across France.

These “Canon Banquets” exclude no one. All are welcome to attend. If you are Muslim, and don’t wish to eat pork products, no one is forcing you to eat them. What “far-right ideas” do these banquets, which showcase those local food specialties that are a storied part of French cuisine, promote? Is respect for, and pride in, French traditional cuisine a “far-right idea”? Is it any more a “far-right idea” than staging a public reading of such medieval French works as Le Chanson de Roland? Or if the education minister chose to stage a play for high school students inside various cathedrals and churches across France, is that “far-right”? Are the French supposed to ignore their past because others — Muslims — have no affection for or interest in that past, and don’t want others to be able to display that affection, that interest?

In a video dated April 29th, Chems-Eddine Haffiz, rector of the Paris Mosque—who, given his official position, is regarded as a kind of spokesman for Islam in France—lashed out at the Canon français and its banquets: the fact that it celebrates a cuisine featuring pork, he claimed, is proof of a logic of exclusion. He condemns the “4,000 guests gathered around a spit-roasted pig” and accuses them of “symbolically” excluding those who do not share this cuisine—that is to say, Muslims.

Muslims can attend these banquets if they wish and simply avoid eating those dishes that have pork in them. But apparently, for some of them, that is not a solution. They want these banquet menus made pork-free, or the banquets stopped altogether if the same menus remain, for they offend Muslims. And if that were to happen, if a significant part of France’s rich heritage were to be suppressed because “it disturbs the Muslims,” the Islamization of France would have won another victory. What then would happen? Would all pork products be removed from school lunches, as they would cause offense to Muslim students and even more, to Muslim parents? And what about wine? Muslims are prohibited from drinking alcohol, so would serving or selling or even producing wine in France be attacked as “excluding” Muslims? It sounds fantastic, but there are no limits to Muslim triumphalism.

By way of riposte to the rector, hundreds of municipalities all over the country should now make it a point to put on these banquets to celebrate the cuisine historique of France. And if Muslims don’t like it, well then, they can…

  1. Once again…. If a Jew wishes to enjoy the festivities it is entirely reasonable even though there are dishes they cannot enjoy as they are non kosher. The act of letting non kosher folks enjoy their lives is part of the rule of Kashruth, of koshering- that is that keeping it doesn’t mean you get to demean those who are not kosher in their eating habits. The French have a deep array of culinary delights and history and they most certainly should enjoy their culinary heritage. And it is so very obvious the tyranny of the Sharia, of Islam, that demands that it is ‘exclusionary’ to eat what Muslims can’t in public. Rubbish. Nonsense and worse. It is the signal that Islam’s Sharia is not merely exclusionary but tyrannic as it allows nothing for non muslims in their nations, in their cities, in their towns, and in the end, in their private lives as well.. Wake up France. Wake up World.

  3. It’s a HUGE mistake to allow large numbers of M slims into Western countries. Immigration should stop. M slims seek to dominate Western countries, bring in Sharia law, and the Qu’ran exhorts them to kill Christians, Jews and infidels. I’ve read the Qu’ran. I stand with Jews and Israel and I’m a joyful Christian. ☺️

  7. Since when do mosques have rectors? This urge to find Christian equivalents of every muslim entity out there, or vice versa, is a part of why Europe is doing so poorly in confronting the jihad

    • Yes. Too much blaming of Christians, too many comparisons ….wrongly equated….in vile attempts to make islime ‘clean and virtuous.’ and many are those who hate Christianity taking part in it all.

      • CAIR has been ingratiating Muslims, poor oppressed Muslims who could be ‘next’ they want us to know, into remembrance trips to Manzanar, California–one of the camps at which Japanese American citizens were wrongly interned during WWII for years.

        They know how to play the game.

Muslims spend so much time deliberately excluding, exploiting and short-changing everyone else on the planet when they’re not already murdering or criminally abusing them in the name of their ‘prophet’ and his self-projected ‘god’, yet if for even one minute one gives the impression that no one’s pandering to their delicate sensibilities, all of a sudden they’re ‘excluded’ and ‘offended’. Why shouldn’t they be ‘excluded’? And who actually cares if they’re ‘offended’? This is the French people celebrating their culture in their own country and nothing at all to do with recently-imported and alien islam which long ago outstayed the ‘welcome’ it was never actually given in the first place.

    The ‘rector’ in this story badly needs to be educated, assuming it’s ever been possible to educate a disciple of the ‘Religion of Peace’.

  10. Pork products have already been removed from school lunches in Ireland, a major pork producer, as an appeasement to the tiny number of muslim students who attend Christian schools.
    This must be reversed.
    France is on a knife edge.

    Why were they afraid to insult the ugly, violent, dominating, uncivilized anti-French foreign invaders?
