Pope Leo XIV is doubling down on Christian-Muslim dialogue, emphasizing an “equal” partnership in both traditions toward global transformation. But normative Islam does not view disbelievers as equals. “Pope: Christians and Muslims must work together to ‘revive humanity,’” by Joseph Tulloch, Vatican News, May 11, 2026:
Pope Leo met on Monday morning with members of Jordan’s Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies and of the Holy See’s Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue.
The members of the Royal Institute, which was founded under the patronage of Jordan’s Prince Hasan bin Talal, were in Rome for a colloquium on “Human Compassion and Empathy in Modern Times”.
Compassion in Christianity and Islam
In his address, the Pope suggested that compassion and empathy are “essential attitudes” of both Christianity and Islam.
In the Muslim tradition, Pope Leo said, compassion (ra’fa) is a gift bestowed by God in the hearts of believers, while the inclusion of al-Ra’uf (‘The ever-compassionate) among the ninety-nine divine names reminds us that “compassion always has its origin in God himself.”
In the Christian tradition, on the other hand, the Pope said, this divine compassion “becomes visible and tangible” in the person of Jesus. By taking on human flesh, God “goes beyond seeing and hearing” human suffering, and instead experiences it Himself, becoming “the living embodiment of compassion”
Love for the poor
Compassion and empathy, Pope Leo said, are therefore “not something additional or optional” for Christians and Muslims. Indeed, they have “social implications” for believers in both religions.
From a Christian point of view, the Pope said, “love for the poor” – and indeed sharing in their suffering – are of essential importance. In this regard, he expressed his appreciation for the Kingdom of Jordan’s “generous efforts” to welcome refugees…
The pope’s rhetoric is part of a larger mission to conceal what Islam really is, while painting Israel and America, particularly under Trump, with a quite different brush. He has declared that God “does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them.” Edwin Black notes:
Pope Leo says this about men who stormed Normandy, about every Jew in the IDF, and about my parents who fought as partisans. At the same time, he condemned President Trump’s war to save humanity from nuclear conflagration by religious fanatics in Iran. Pope Leo, who are you to tell us whose prayers God hears?
In another recent article about the atrocities that Muslims are committing against Christians in Africa, Robert Spencer notes that the pope condemned “terrorist attacks,” but made nary a mention of who is perpetrating them. Why?
The reason is because he doesn’t want to harm the dialogue that has been going on for years between Muslims and Roman Catholics…. The idea that speaking forthrightly about Muslim persecution of Christians could hurt the Muslim/Christian “dialogue” dialogue, and so the suffering Christians must simply be sacrificed on the altar of glad-handing…
For Pope Leo now to call on Christians and Muslims to “revive humanity where it has grown cold” and “transform indifference into solidarity” is insensitive and insulting. It essentially rubs the faces of the Christians who are persecuted by Muslims in the dirt. These are not words of a man of truth. What about the pope’s own stand against those who declare war when it comes to Islamic history, as well as Islam’s teachings and what Islamic tradition records about the words and deeds of Muhammad? In Islam, not only is war deceit (Sunan Abī Dāwūd 2637), but it is waged against disbelievers as a foremost duty:
A man asks Muhammad “which of men is the best?” Muhammad replies that it is the man who is always ready for battle and flies into it “seeking death at places where it can be expected.“ — Sahih Muslim 20:4655

The Muslim Brotherhood, which has fully infiltrated most countries of the West, also follows what Allah told it to do, as its offshoot Hamas reflects. In its own playbook:

The Royal Institute, whose members Pope Leo met, was “founded under the patronage of Jordan’s Prince Hasan bin Talal.” This isn’t the only prominent Muslim-Christian dialogue effort named after an Arab royal, attempting Islamic da’wah under the dialogue umbrella. There’s also the infamous Bridge Initiative at Georgetown University— a multi-million dollar research project, launched in April 2015. Prince Alwaleed bin Talal gave a $20 million endowment to the center in efforts to combat “Islamophobia.” Georgetown boasts:
The Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (ACMCU) is internationally recognized as a leader in the study of Islam and Muslim-Christian relations.
The ACMCU identifies so-called “Islamophobes” in America in “Fact Sheets” that are actually efforts to smear those who call out the truth about Islam.
These twin “Talal” efforts are not aimed at reaching out to Christians as friends in a manner similar to the way the pope (and others) is doing with Muslims. They are efforts aimed at fooling disbelievers into thinking Islam is a religion of peace. They are an attempt hide the fangs of normative Islam and its 1,400-year history, documenting assaults on disbelievers. The intent is to render disbelievers everywhere complacent and accepting in order to help spread the Sharia globally. Employing the efforts of influential disbelievers such as the pope is particularly effective.
The pope also extolled the Kingdom of Jordan’s “generous efforts to welcome refugees,” a mission that is dear to the heart of Pope Leo and his predecessor, who also supported unvetted, open-door migration policies. Jihad by immigration is another clever tactic to spread the Sharia. The publication Modern Diplomacy once noted:
Islam is a missionary political religion, an ever expending faith that has no borders and no political limits. It is intended to be the universal hegemonic religion for all mankind, by force of Jihad; by propagation of Da’wah; and by mass immigration, and by demography of high birthrate.
Many are familiar with the 2007 launch of the “One Common Word Between Us and You” global dialogue initiative between Christians and Muslims, which carried the approval of Pope Benedict XVI, who initially showed righteous caution regarding Islam, but eventually succumbed under pressure to the faux efforts of those who were advocating close Catholic-Muslim relations. Many other Christian leaders and Muslim clerics also approved it. What the Christians didn’t realize, however, is that the “one common word” was based on Qur’an 3:64, which reads:
O Prophet,˺ “O People of the Book! Let us come to common terms: that we will worship none but Allah, associate none with Him, nor take one another as lords instead of Allah.” But if they turn away, then say, “Bear witness that we have submitted ˹to Allah alone˺.”
Pope Benedict likely went along to get along after the upheaval he had inadvertently provoked in the Muslim world a year earlier, over a lecture he delivered entitled “Faith, Reason and the University Memories and Reflections,” in which he quoted a late medieval Roman emperor saying:
“Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.” He added that violence was “incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul”.
Pope Benedict was subsequently forced to issue an apology in response to an unleashing of Islamic fury worldwide. His words were deemed “harmful” to Catholic-Muslim relations.
To discuss the unflattering truths about Islam is invariably deemed anti-Islam or “Islamophobic.”
Islamic leaders are fanning the flames of the strenuous efforts to suppress facts about Muslim persecution of Christians (as well as the persecution of the state of Israel, of Hindus, minorities in Syria and in other parts of the Middle East and of Ahmadis in Pakistan). Βig money is funding these efforts. The claim that Islam is a religion of peace — ready to coexist as equals along with Christians, Jews, Hindus and other groups — is a big lie. It is also a betrayal of the countless persecuted minorities around the world who have suffered immensely and continue to do so.
Think about the implications of the partnership in this deceit between the pope and Islam. This is the man who leads the world’s over 1.4 billion Catholics; and a man who just awarded the Vatican’s highest diplomatic honor to Islamic Republic of Iran’s envoy at the Holy See, Mohammad Hossein Mokhtari.

These are radical conservatives who are not accepting the evolution of the church into a more modern, mainstream and accepting of other religions.
The Pope was clear when he said, all religions are actually one. Islam and Christianity are one. You can’t just break away from the church and claim to be the universal church because you disagree with a statement like that. The church itself sets the rules, and it is evolving to accommodate the liberal views of its congregation, whether we like it or not. The church is dying , it needed the change. Also, accepting LGBT “unions” now as well, offering them communion.
