MS NOW Host Reveals How Ignorant Leftists Really Are

Imagine how different the world would be if they ever learned something.

It was just another day at MS NOW: the far, far-left “news” network was busy stoking fears of Orange Man Bad imposing not just a fascist dictatorship, but a Christian fascist theocratic dictatorship, upon an unsuspecting public. Everything was going smoothly until the network’s Katy Tur asked The Atlantic’s McKay Coppins a question that so comprehensively revealed her ignorance of the basics of what the American republic is that she should have already resigned or been fired, and never come close to commenting publicly on news events again. But this is MS NOW we’re talking about. Tur will survive professionally and propagandize another day.

It all happened on Monday, during what Mediaite characterizes as a “conversation about the Rededicate 250 event held on the National Mall over the weekend.” Tur asked the fateful question that outed her as a total moron forever: “What about this passage from Mike Johnson, declaring that ‘our rights do not derive from government. They come from you, our Creator, and Heavenly Father.’ Is this him putting God over the Declaration of Independence?”

Oh, good grief. You may recall that the Declaration of Independence to which Tur referred famously says this: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

This is an extremely important statement, for it is emphasizing that our rights come from God, and precisely not from the government, and thus no government has the power to revoke them. Tur, however, was proceeding from the assumption that House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), in referring to this fact, was forcing some Christian theocratic propaganda upon the venerable Declaration.

The product, no doubt, of the very best schools (her father is Zoey Tur, the famous man who insists he is a woman and daintily and girlishly threatened to send Ben Shapiro home in an ambulance for calling him “sir”), Katy Tur no doubt assumes that the Declaration of Independence establishes that there are 73 genders and that abortion is a fundamental human right. God? He couldn’t be in the founding document of the nation that has so efficiently banned Him from society, now, could He?

Marginally more sane, Coppins tried to answer Tur’s question in a way that wouldn’t reveal absolutely everyone who is involved with MS NOW to be a total imbecile. “Well, you know,” he began tentatively, “I actually think that idea is not wholly uncommon.” No kidding, McKay, really? “Not uncommon” as in stated plainly in a document that has been celebrated internationally since July 4, 1776? “I mean,” he went on gamely, “the idea that we have certain inalienable rights that come from God can be read in a fairly benign way, which is basically that we have innate human rights that our constitution and our government, our democratic government, are meant to codify, right?”

Trying to give Tur the education she should have gotten when she was being taught about how the Founding Fathers were racists and America is a colonialist entity on stolen land, Coppins went on: “That idea is not totally abnormal.” Hey, yeah, good point, buddy. But be careful that the geniuses at MS NOW don’t think you’re one of the MAGA-hatted unwashed and run you out of the network on a rail.

Realizing that he needed to reassert his leftist bona fides, Coppins then hastened to agree with Tur: “I think that the thing that, you know, might alarm some people is some of the rhetoric that we heard at this rally, that we are in a spiritual battle, right? That the forces of good and evil are at work here, and that partisan politics is injected directly into the spiritual biblical rhetoric. We have heard that for the last couple of years. It’s been ratcheted up more and more, especially since Donald Trump lost in 2020. And it can lead to some pretty dangerous places if it’s not kept in check.”

The import of all this was that MS NOW was admitting that the Declaration says that our rights come from God, but warning about how patriots could use this fact against leftists, and so recommending that everyone just keep quiet about it. And so vacuous talking heads such as Katy Tur will continue to spout the garbage they’ve been pushing upon the American public for years. The best part of this sorry exchange was that it pointed to a helpful antidote to leftism: a basic education.
