Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed.

This is a devious rhetorical trick. Labeling someone a “Nakba survivor” is designed to evoke instant sympathy and a false sense of moral clarity, but it is little more than taxpayer-funded propaganda.
Consider the absurdity: roughly 99% of Palestinian Arabs alive in 1949… https://t.co/0FD7XEzJde

Mamdani does not, of course, mention the 900,000 Jews expelled from Muslim countries when Israel was founded. He doesn’t mention that Israel invited the Arabs to stay, or that the Arab Higher Committee told the Arabs to leave. He doesn’t mention the fact that “the Palestinian people” didn’t even exist in 1948, and that none of the neighboring Arab states would take in the Arabs who left Israel, because they wanted to use them as a weapon against the Jewish state. He doesn’t mention the fact that when the Arab Higher Committee told the Arabs to leave, it was in anticipation of the neighboring Arab states destroying Israel and carrying out a new genocide of the Jews, after which the Arabs would have been able to return. He doesn’t say anything about how ridiculous it is that the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren (and on and on) of the people who left Israel are considered “refugees.” He doesn’t mention the fact that those people became “Palestinians” in 1964 to counter the image of tiny Israel facing off against giant Arab states; since then, the media has portrayed the conflict as the massive Israeli war machine against the poor, defenseless “Palestinians” (who have received billions upon billions from the EU, the UN and the US).
“Mamdani posts Nakba Day video, saying the ‘catastrophe’ continues until today,” by Luke Tress, Times of Israel, May 16, 2026:
NEW YORK — New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Friday posted a video and a statement for Nakba Day, an annual Palestinian event, drawing furious backlash from leading Jewish groups in the city.
Nakba is Arabic for “catastrophe,” and refers to Israel’s founding and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Israel’s 1948 War of Independence. The Nakba narrative and the associated “right of return” for the refugees’ millions of descendants are seen by many as demands for Israel’s demise as a majority Jewish state.
Mamdani’s video, posted shortly before Shabbat, showed an interview with a “Nakba survivor,” New York resident Inea Bushnaq. She described fleeing her home because “the Zionists were coming into Jerusalem.”
“Nakba is Arabic for ‘catastrophe,’” the text in the video said. “It refers to the expulsion and displacement of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed.”
“The Haganah, Irgun and Lehi militias, among others, destroyed more than 400 Palestinian villages and cities, killing thousands of Palestinians and carrying out dozens of massacres,” the video said. “May 15 is the annual commemoration of the Nakba. For Palestinians, their displacement and the Nakba continue to this day.”
Bushnaq in the video described the use of keys as a symbol of the right of return.
“People, of course, locked their houses when they left, and all they had of it was the key when it turned out there was no going back,” she said. “It became sort of a symbol — you have the key but not the house.”
The video, produced by the mayor’s office, presented a one-sided narrative of Israel’s War of Independence.
For example, it did not mention Arab massacres of Jews, that Arab armies invaded the territory to eliminate its Jewish community, that the Palestinians refused a two-state solution that could have prevented the war, that Jews were ethnically cleansed from Jerusalem in the conflict, or that more than 800,000 Jews were made refugees from Arab lands due to the war.
The right of return is seen by many as a central obstacle to a two-state solution. Palestinians demand the return to Israel of all the descendants of refugees, now numbering in the millions, a demand that is a non-starter for Israel because the influx would swamp the country’s Jewish population….

Of course the 800,000 Jewish refugees from Islamic hell-holes are not mentioned by Mamdani nor by his Marxist allies.
And what about the “Nakba of Western Civilization”™ ongoing right now, because of the 70 million (and lamentably rapidly growing) population of barbaric violent sexually perverted Muslims infesting the West like locusts?
I am no doubt the only one who is so, so, so sick of Islam and of its perverted Leftist allies.

No mention of the 800,000 Jews expelled from Muslim majority countries. Israel took them in.
Taffy says
It’s my understanding that the Nakba was initiated by the surrounding Arab countries that attacked Israel. The Arab countries put out the word to the Muslims in British Palestine to evacuate, and they would then attack Israel and clean out the Jews, and then the Muslims could come back to their homes when the war was over. Well things didn’t work out as planned. The ones that left lost everything, but the ones that stayed became Israeli citizens.
The woman in the video conveniently left the part out about how they were supposed to leave and then come back to their houses victorious Arab armies.
