Looking Into the Background of a Holocaust Denier

In the New Hampshire state legislature recently, a member of that legislature, the strangely-named Matt Sabourin dit Choinière, introduced a Holocaust denier, one Germar Rudolf, to the public. Now comes the fun part — a little background information on Germar Rudolf, that is most unseemly and embarrassing: “How a Republican state lawmaker tried to let Holocaust deniers hijack history lessons,” by Tom Dreisbach, NPR, April 29, 2026:

Rudolf, NPR found, has a criminal record not just in Germany, where Holocaust denial is illegal, but also in the U.S. — for reasons that have nothing to do with his activism.

In 2020, Rudolf was convicted of open lewdness and indecent exposure in Pennsylvania after a police officer found him naked from the waist down at a children’s playground around 4 a.m. Local law enforcement was familiar with Rudolf, according to trial testimony obtained by NPR, because police had previously encountered him swimming nude in a nearby river.

Now let’s stop and dwell for a moment on this evil crackbrain. Forget for the nonce about his Holocaust denial, and think of him, in your mind’s eye, at that moment when he was found by the police, at 4 a.m, standing in a children’s playground, naked from the waist down and clutching a bottle of baby oil. What, oh what, was he doing? Or what was he hoping to do? Why was he naked? And what about that telltale baby oil? Shall we say he’s more than a bit off? That he was up to no good, that he’s a possible threat to children? Being a Holocaust denier is creepy enough. Being a Holocaust denier who likes to take his pants off in the middle of the night while visiting a children’s playground, and clutching some baby oil — well, can you top that in the annals of creepiness?

Rudolf insisted that he was not naked at the playground, just wearing what he called “skimpy” tiger-print shorts to exercise. He describes himself as an active triathlete and has written about receiving workout tips from David Duke, the former Ku Klux Klan leader….

The policeman who picked him up beg to differ. His report says Rudolf wasn’t wearing any “tiger print shorts,” but was completely naked below the waist. And how interesting to know that Rudolf gets his exercise tips from David Duke, neo-Nazi and Klan leader. In December 2002, Duke pleaded guilty to felony mail fraud and filing a false tax return. He was accused of swindling supporters by claiming to be in financial distress. Rudolf and Duke are birds of a feather in more ways than one.

Rudolf claimed that he has used baby oil as his “go-to lotion” and “lubricant” to soothe his dry skin from workouts….

Yes, 4 a.m. is the perfect time for a “workout.” And what better place than a schoolyard?

In 2022, he was again charged with trespassing on school grounds and disorderly conduct. He later pleaded guilty to resolve those charges….

My, my. Germar Rudolf seems to like school grounds and playgrounds in the middle of the night. Might he have a special and unsavory interest in children? There’s a word for that: pedophilia.

The Trump Administration has tried to deport pro-Palestinian activists who are lawful permanent residents in the U.S., arguing that they promoted antisemitism….

Doesn’t a Holocaust denier such as Germar Rudolf promote antisemitism? He is not a citizen, but only a “lawful permanent resident,” just like the Palestinian Sami al-Arian, who went from being a professor of engineering at the University of South Florida to heading up some loathsome Islamic organization in Istanbul. Why shouldn’t the American government do the same with Rudolf, booting this non-citizen out of our country because of his Holocaust denial?

Even after the failed Holocaust education proposal, Republican candidate for Congress and state Rep. Brian Cole said he was “honored” to receive Sabourin dit Choinière’s endorsement.

Cole subsequently told NPR he was unaware of his colleague’s support for Holocaust denial.

“Had I known of this prior, I would not have accepted or publicized the endorsement,” Cole wrote in an email. “In light of this information, we have rescinded the endorsement. I unequivocally reject Holocaust denial and any form of antisemitism.”

Hmm. I’d like to think Cole is telling the truth, but I have my doubts.

I hope that story about Germar Rudolf being found guilty of “indecent exposure and open lewdness” comes to be widely disseminated. Caught naked below the waist in a schoolyard at 4 a.m. with a bottle of baby oil… so many unseemly possibilities come to mind. But that’s not the reason to deport him. That reason is his Holocaust denial, which promotes antisemitism, because the denialists present Jews as liars, falsifying history to win sympathy for their “genocidal” state, that little warmongering Sparta known as Israel. A deportable offense? Yes, I think so. Let him try to fight in the courts, running up lots of those billable hours he’ll have to pay for, where the information about his schoolyard lewdness will stamp him forever in the public’s view not just as a squalid antisemite, but as a figure of endless fun.
