These are not just culture-specific expressions of rage and hatred. These are indications of how the Iranians, or at least the supporters of Iran’s Islamic regime, view their conflict with the United States. They see it as a religious conflict, which is the one aspect of it that State Department analysts, and virtually everyone else in the West, resolutely ignore.

Nations wishing to expand their territory fight “land” wars. But many are the wars fought over differences in religion.

The only Iranians who’d be either interested in going to Mecca AND be allowed by their regime to do so would be regime supporters, which are right now anything from 10-30% of the population. They may be no more representative of “Persians” than Greta Thunberg is of Swedes
I also contest your other claim that they are worse than Arabs. Everything that the Arabs built in the best of their cities – Dubai, Manama, Doha…. is a combination of Western consultants and Eastern (mainly non-muslim) labor. None of it was built by Arabs themselves: they just got to enjoy the proceeds of all those oil & gas sales. Only exceptions were those Arab countries that were run by pro-Soviet strongmen, like Saddam, Assad or Gadaffi: they got in their Soviet consultants, but they made their own people do the work, as opposed to importing workers from Asian countries. Or in Libya’s case, they took in workers from Egypt and other nearby north African countries
By contrast, Iran, under both the Pahlavis and the ayatollahs, built their own stuff. Under the Pahlavis, Iran was a quasi-Western country, except for the fact that most of its people remained muslim (something that may not longer be true today). However, even then, one didn’t read stories of expat workers going to Iran to build their infrastructure: all that was built by their own people. In 1905, they had a constitution that made them a reasonably good country to do business w/. Under the Pahlavis, Iran was a self sufficient country – rich in oil no doubt, but which didn’t need foreigners to build their basic facilities
It was ingrained deep enough that even the ayatollahs, for all the damage they did, did not undo that expertise. One can see that in what Reza Pahlavi is putting together: he’s getting Iranian technocrats on his team so that they can advise on how to deal w/ issues such as Iran’s water crisis, their environmental damage and so much more. Had this been a Saudi Arabia or a Qatar, they’d have been scouring the earth for Western consultants and Asian expat workers to come and do it for them
Yeah, Iranians have their work cut out for them once this regime falls, not the least of which would be institutional wholesale de-islamization (both shi’a and sunni). But they are nowhere near as dysfunctional as the Arabs are (even if some of the latter may be improving)
