These burrowing pioners of Hezbollah, these old moles who dost work i’ th’earth so fast, over several years built a vast tunnel network under southern Lebanon that was in size and scope a virtual underground terrorist city, able to house thousands of terrorists, armed with weapons from Iran, and ready to emerge from those tunnels to ambush or invade. This tunnel network was recently discovered by the IDF near the city of Kantara; it had been built almost entirely under civilian structures in an attempt to make it harder to discover, but the IDF proved equal to the task of locating it, and having unearthed the entire network of tunnels, has now destroyed, or is in the process of destroying, all of them with hundreds of tons of explosives. The IDF on Tuesday announced it has destroyed the largest Hezbollah tunnel city in all of southern Lebanon, built with significant aid from Iran.
According to the IDF, the network could have housed and provided weapons, communications, and other operational infrastructure for thousands of Radwan Forces elite terrorists in the area.
During its 2024 invasion of Lebanon, the IDF found three tunnel city networks, but this one, near Kantara, was by the largest.
Some 11 kilometers from the border, in southern Lebanon, Kantara sits roughly parallel to the midpoint between Israeli moshavim Margaliyot and Dovev in Upper Galilee.
The IDF informed that the tunnel was two kilometers long and 10 km. wide; photos show that it had spread out in several different directions under numerous other villages in the area….
What lessons can be drawn from the discovery of these tunnel networks built for Hezbollah with the Islamic Republic of Iran’s help, and of the largest of these tunnels? First, the immensity of the effort by Hezbollah to create a vast tunnel network, at places built at a depth of 25 meters underground, has now been revealed. The biggest tunnel is 2 kilometers long, 10 meters wide, and was big enough to house thousands of terrorists. No other tunnel dug by Hezbollah comes close. Second, the Iranian arms found strewn throughout the tunnel, and the evidence, from how the tunnel was constructed, that Iranians had built part of the tunnel, offered conclusive proof of the close connection between Iran and its proxy Hezbollah, a charge that Hezbollah, in presenting itself a strictly Lebanese group, part of the “resistance” to the Zionists, continues to deny. Third, in the colossal amount of time and effort and expense Hezbollah expended in building these tunnel networks so wide, and so long, and so deep underground, its members seem to me to be clinically insane. Minds that have drunk deep of Islam, I’m afraid, often end up that way.

Our Western Leaders must similarly pass Legislation to create Legal Thresholds to qualify for or to gain Rights, Protections, and Privileges under the Law where the Applicant Entity must adhere to the USA Constitution. The purpose is not to ban any Applicant Entity but to establish a Legal Threshold for qualification. As a result, Islam and its Muslim Organizations would fail to qualify for Rights, Protections, and Privileges due to their Muslim discrimination, segregation, violence, and terrorism against Non-Muslims as taught in Islamic Law, aka Islam. Individual Freedom does not exist in Islamic Law or in Islam’s Qur’an.

Someone screwed up on the dimensions, and Hugh merely copied the erroneous dimensions from the Jerusalem Post article. Later in Hugh’s article, the correct dimensions appear: “The biggest tunnel is 2 kilometers long, 10 meters wide, and was big enough to house thousands of terrorists.”
And the “hundreds of tons of explosives” is also erroneous. I’d say that hundreds of kilos of explosive is more like it. If we take “hundreds of tons to mean 200 tons, and the tunnel is 2000 meters in length, then that works out to a ton of explosive for every 10 meters (33 feet), which a kilo of high explosive per 10 meters will handle just fine.to cave in the tunnel rather than blast the tunnel ceiling a few hundred feet into the air.
Just to give an order of magnitude comparison, on August 4, 2020, one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in history, resulting from the detonation of ammonium nitrate, pulverized a Beirut port and damaged more than half the city. This explosion was estimated to be about one kiloton, although estimates vary between 0.5 and 3.0. So, the charge needed to collapse the Hizb’Allah tunnels is about 2oo kg,, not 200 tons.
In any event, tunneling is very expensive. The cost to build The Gateway Tunnel (the new Amtrak tunnel under the Hudson River from NY to NJ is $16 Billion with $1.28 billion of that representing the contract awarded a few days ago for the actual boring of the tunnel. The tunnel will consist of two parallel tubes, about 2.5 miles long each. The whole project is expected to be completed by 2035. Hizb’Allah doesn’t have union labor rates or major overhead, but still, their tunnel network was a laborious project that took years to complete and cost Iran at least $1 Billion.
By the way, I hate mixed metric and English units.

The funding of regional terrorism and specific terrorism aimed at Israel ultimately leads back to the Iranian clerics. Without them there is no “revolutionary” Regime nor permanence to the IRGC.
There has been no government concern for the welfare of the Iranian citizens while the wealth of the nation is directed to war weapons, terrorist groups, and the destruction of Israel.
The clerics have fraudulently declared themselves to be Allah’s earthly directors without any such evidence, essentially becoming little culty demigods, without a conscience, who can order the destruction of “troublesome” Iranian citizens at will. They hijacked the religion as a tool of power.
No other government with the tremendous wealth of substantial oil has been this foolish. Do the Mullahs understand why Erdogan doesn’t attack Israel? “It’s the economy stupid(s)”. Turkey has stable manufacturing industries with international firms that would be ruined.
The elimination of the Iranian government’s Mullahs/Clerics is an essential step in gaining and retaining the citizen’s freedom and national wealth. The citizens must separate religion and government if they want to stop hyperinflation and control their own lives.
There is a human nature lesson here about being willing to take the oil wealth that could have supported every Iranian and destroying the economy to benefit the egos and aspirations of a few. When millions of jobs in the West are taken by AI, do you think the corporations will share the wealth?

Most likely, these Hezbollah and Gazan tunnels that Israel has discovered and destroyed do not compare to what the Iranians have built deep under their mountains in order to enrich uranium, build and store ballistic missiles, hide armies and supplies, etc.
How can these Iranian tunnels (even underground factories and cities) be not only destroyed, as they must be, but also made so this regime, or any other like it, can not rebuild and reuse them ?
The only thing I can think of is to somehow make the interiors radioactive so no human could survive them, and to also contain them so the radiation does not leak to the outside world (like a Chernobyl under the mountains).
I do not believe there are explosives/bombs powerful enough to completely collapse these deeply buried spaces, so that they can not be remade. I can not imagine that the mountain would completely collapse in to these spaces using explosives alone, but I do not know.
And, no doubt the Iranians also have many of these smaller (but “biggest” for Hezbollah) type tunnels, as mentioned in the article, under their cities too. As stated, Iran helped build them.

Tunnel rats they are and are everywhere they are. Who is looking underground any way? We need to invert and create some sort of inexpensive boring weapon we can use to blow them and their tunnels to pieces without risking any lives of our Soldiers.

Take an old jet engine, they have plenty of them and it does not have to be flight ready, a fuel tank and mount them on a trailer. Aim the nozzle into the opening and bring the heat. This would be easy and have many benefits.
Chase the terrorists out of their tunnels.
Possibly detonate their weapons.
Create an infrared map of the system without even going in.
If that does not work, there is always skunk scent and a big fan.
