The Greek government has taken a hard line on immigration from Africa and the Middle East, reflecting the desire of the Greek people to prevent migrants, mostly Muslim, from overrunning their small country. Those migrants are now in Libya, hoping to cross the Mediterranean and land in Europe. The Greek government has warned that there are over half a million migrants waiting in Libya to cross the Mediterranean and land in Europe, sparking concerns of another migrant crisis.
Greek Migration Minister Thanos Plevris said this week that Athens estimates there are approximately 550,000 migrants waiting in Libya, the African hub, for the opportunity to cross to Europe.
Pelvris said that Athens is working closely with Libyan authorities as well as the European Union’s external border force Frontex to prevent migrant boats from taking off from the coastline of the Maghreb nation.
“Those who are not entitled to asylum will be detained,” the migration minister said, per Greek news outlet Voria. “Now, when it is likely that someone will not get asylum, they are not placed in a freedom status but in a detention status, so that with the rejection of asylum, they can be returned.”…
Those who arrive in Europe, only to find they are denied asylum status, used to be released in the hope that they would self-deport, but few did so. Now, in Greece, when asylum status is denied, the would-be immigrants are held in detention — imprisoned — until their forcible deportation back to Libya.
Aside from the smugglers’ boats bringing migrants across the Mediterranean to Europe, another route for Muslim migrants, mainly from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, is through Turkey, which allows them to move freely into Greece. Now Greece has put up a huge border wall on its border with Turkey, to prevent that route from being used. Of course, migrants can still leave on boats from Turkish ports in order to land on dozens of Greek islands, where the Greek border patrol and army are spread thin.
Migrants who had their asylum requests shut down are now only legally allowed to remain in the country for 14 days before facing fines, prison, and potential ankle monitoring.
In those 14 days, however, some of those migrants simply give authorities the slip. They not only move around Greece, but also leave Greece for European countries, especially Germany, where welfare benefits are the most generous in Europe, and provided to migrants who make up stories of their supposed persecution at home.
Other European countries share the hardening of attitudes in Greece toward these migrants, mostly Muslim. The latest electoral results reflect that new reality. In Germany, the anti-Muslim-migrant Alternative für Deutschland is now the most popular party the country, and AfD members have been winning major mayoral contests. In France, the National Rally’s Jordan Bardella has become the clear frontrunner in the lead-up to the next presidential election, far outpacing all other candidates, including the far-left supporter of immigration Jean-Luc Mélenchon of La France Insoumise.
Italy provides an example of a state whose highest elected official is unembarrassedly anti-Islam. The current prime minister, Giorgia Meloni, has made calling a halt to Muslim migration and deporting many already in the country central to her program. She has consistently expressed strong opposition to what she describes as the “Islamization” of Europe, and maintains a hardline stance against irregular migration. She frequently frames Islamic culture as incompatible with European values and rights. She has stated that there is a “compatibility problem” between Islamic culture and the values of European civilization, particularly regarding women’s rights and secularism. Her government has implemented strict policies to curb boat arrivals, including the use of naval blockades and a plan to keep asylum seekers from landing in Italy, but instead processing them in Albania. Meloni has expressed a preference for welcoming migrants she deems more “compatible” with Italian society, specifically citing Christian immigrants. She and her party, Fratelli d’Italia, have opposed the construction of new mosques and the legal recognition of Islam in Italy, arguing that such centers can trigger social conflict and are often foreign-funded. She describes her stance as a defense of Italian and European identity against external cultural threats, often associating irregular migration with a rise in in security and fundamentalism. And her view is increasingly echoed throughout Europe, as Europeans have come to the conclusion that the large-scale presence of Muslims in their countries has created a situation that for the indigenous non-Muslims is far more unpleasant, expensive, and physically dangerous than would be the case without that presence.
Now Greece has warned that 550,000 would-be migrants are now in Libya, hoping to take smugglers’ boats to Europe where, once admitted, even if their claims for asylum are then denied, they will be almost impossible to round up and deport. Some authorities say the situation is even worse than Greece believes; not 550,000, but 950,000 people, they say, are in Libya waiting to be smuggled into Europe. All the members of the EU ought to create a joint naval force stationed just offshore from Libya, and able to stop with live fire those smugglers’ boats while they are still close to shore, forcing them to turn back. Other ships ought to be guarding Europe’s coastline where the smugglers’ boats have been landing, especially the Italian island of Lampedusa that is closest to Libya, and towing them back out to sea.

That rubber raft consists of 100% men. No women, no families. This is the other big mistake of those who are being allowed to enter Europe. First they are mostly Muslim and second they are all men. Meaning they will not fit in Europe due to the differences between Euro culture and Muslim culture. Second they will want women meaning more rapes than you think. Muslims see European women as “easy, “asking for it”. It’s a very bad situation for the women of Europe and that means from 11 years up. The whole migration is a horrible mess.

What is unemployment like in Greece? Athens should scale up their defenses and their coast guard on all their islands, and tighten their border w/ Turkey. Ban any NGO that wants to bring in any refugees. Make border control the most lucrative profession in their country: nothing less will do!
