Too little, too late? Probably. Nevertheless, it is refreshing to see a Western Europe government even come close to acknowledging that there is a problem of Islamic jihad.

The French Senate has adopted a proposed law aimed at combating Islamist infiltration (208-124). The bill, brought by former interior minister Bruno Retailleau, aims to create a criminal offense for undermining the principles of the Republic.
It penalizes coordinated actions aimed at leading a public or private body to adopt decisions or practices contrary to the law, with the established aim of seriously undermining constitutionally defined principles of the Republic.
These principles include the indivisible, secular, democratic, and social nature of the Republic; equality before the law; respect for all beliefs; and equality between women and men in access to positions of responsibility.
The bill also introduces new grounds for the dissolution of associations or informal groups that disregard common legal rules and requires prefectural approval for the construction of places of worship.
It further extends the statute of limitations for press offenses to three years and strengthens oversight of institutions working with minors.
French authorities have spoken of “Islamist infiltration,” as a process whereby ideological networks, linked to political Islamism rather than the religion of Islam itself, seek to gradually influence public institutions, associations, and local governance from within.
This could mean, for example, radicalizing members of a mosque to have values that do not align with the French state.
The bill was actually inspired by a report Retailleau received in 2025 called “The Muslim Brotherhood and political Islamism in France,” which lists 139 Muslim places of worship linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, 68 considered “close to the federation,” and 21 identified as part of the Brotherhood’s network….

Why try to cover up the evil teaching of Islam by using words like “Muslim Brotherhood”, “Islamist infiltration”, “Islam radicals” etc while the elephant in the room is Islam?

But, in reality, political islam is baked into islam itself.
The two cannot be separated.

It is always good to see signs that some people are waking and are pissed off with evil islam. I saw a news report about some election in the UK, maybe local elections and starmers labour mob got smashed and farages party did well and the report said that immigration the big issue. Here in Australia, Pauline Hanson’s one nation party won a by election yesterday. A small thing but , if her party could get real power her party would end Muslims being let in.

Are they going to pretend that there is a difference b/w islamist infiltration and islamic infiltration? Or is the former just a convenient label to apply to the latter just in order to avoid looking “islamophobic”?

Many people in France on the right see this law as censorship by the backdoor. They never mention islam in any of these laws. This law does not just apply to Islamist infiltration but to anyone who goes against the value of the French Republic. This can mean literally anything. This law is wrong.
