Ye (Kanye West) Now Banned From Entering the U.K.

The rapper formerly known as Kanye West was barred Tuesday from entering the U.K., where he was scheduled to headline the Wireless Festival in July, after a backlash over Ye’s history of antisemitic remarks.

Festival organizers canceled the three-day outdoor event as a result of the travel ban and said those who had bought tickets would get refunds.

Ye had been granted an electronic travel authorization which has now been withdrawn on the grounds that his presence in the U.K. would not be “conducive to the public good,” CBS News partner network BBC News said, citing the Home Office….

Ye is no ordinary antisemite. Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes are still behind him on the Nazi Meter. Neither as yet has declared his love for Adolf Hitler or sold as his merch T-shirts with swastikas on them.

Last year, Ye released a song called “Heil Hitler” and advertised a swastika T-shirt for sale on his website. The song led Australian officials last year to block him from entering their country.

The scorecard so far is this: Australia and the U.K. have both declared him persona non grata. No visas for Ye. What country will be next to do the right thing, and keep the sweet singer of scatological hip-hop at bay? Canada? Germany? France?

The 48-year-old apologized in January with a letter, published as a full-page advertisement in The Wall Street Journal. He said his bipolar disorder led him to fall into “a four-month long, manic episode of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior that destroyed my life.”…

Anyone who has followed the career of Kanye West knows that not for “four months,” but rather for more than a decade, he has provided the world with endless “manic episodes of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior.” Time for a real cure. He has $400 million. Why doesn’t he check into a psychiatric clinic in Zurich for a nice long stay?

Wireless stood to lose money on headlining West. Three of the festival’s biggest sponsors announced that they were pulling out of the festival. How much were those sponsorships worth, as compared to how much money had been made selling tickets to those coming only to see Kanye West?

Phil Rosenberg, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, had said the group would be willing to meet with the musician if he pulled out of the festival.

The Jewish community will want to see a genuine remorse and change before believing that the appropriate place to test this sincerity is on the main stage at the Wireless Festival,” Rosenberg said.

How can anyone think that Ye, who has praised Hitler and said “I am a Nazi” could possibly feel “genuine remorse”? Fake remorse, “remorse” designed to let him take his rap on the road to acquire more millions, is all he can offer.

Organizer Festival Republic had stood by Ye. In a statement issued Monday, managing director Melvin Benn urged people to offer the performer “forgiveness and hope.”…

Why? Why does Ye deserve “forgiveness and hope”? He’s an intolerable antisemite, with a long record of remarks on Twitter/X such as “I love Hitler,” “I hate Jews,” “I am a Nazi,” who wants to “be forgiven” so that he can continue to add to his present net worth of $400 million. At least the U.K. government has now had the good sense to keep him out.

“We are not giving him a platform to extol opinion [sic] of whatever nature, only to perform the songs that are currently played on the radio stations in our country and the streaming platforms in our country and listened to and enjoyed by millions,” the statement said.

Of course Ye’s standing on stage in front of 150,000 adoring fans will give him all the platform he needs. Given the controversy over his long history of antisemitic remarks, his declaring “I love Hitler” and selling swastikas among his merch, choosing him to appear as the headline act during all three days of the festival, will be taken as an endorsement by Festival Republic.

Announcing the cancellation, Festival Republic said that “multiple stakeholders were consulted in advance of booking Ye and no concerns were highlighted at the time….

One group of “stakeholders” that was not consulted was the Jewish community in London. Given Ye’s antisemitic history, one supposes that they were deliberately ignored because their negative reaction was predictable. Better not to ask them, and consult only those who would offer no objection to Ye’s appearance as the festival’s headliner for all three days.

Ye is desperate not to lose these gigs, so rapacious is he (with a net worth of hundreds of millions of dollars, he still wants more), and is willing to pretend that he’s had a change of heart and wants to make it up to “the Jewish community.”

A representative for Ye didn’t reply to a request for comment.
