Mali is on the brink of collapse, as it faces an existential threat. Yesterday Jihad Watch reported on the rare coordinated attack on Mali by al-Qaeda affiliate Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP) and Northern rebels. The attack was a major blow to Russia, as its Wagner Group mercenaries “had no intelligence about the attacks and were unable to protect major cities.” Kurdistan24 News characterized the attack as “a profound failure for Mali’s Russian-backed military junta, signalling severe regional instability.”
The report went further to describe Mali’s military junta as shattered, as jihadists “have exploited a profound security vacuum left by the 2023 withdrawal of United Nations peacekeepers.” Now comes the worthless UN to “condemn” and “call for” action. “UN chief condemns Mali attacks, calls for ‘coordinated international’ response,” Arab News, April 26, 2026:
United Nations chief Antonio Guterres on Saturday condemned “acts of violence” in Mali after jihadists and Tuareg rebels claimed attacks against the army across the junta-ruled Sahel state.
“The Secretary-General is deeply concerned by reports of attacks in several locations across Mali,” his spokesman said in a statement.
“The Secretary-General calls for coordinated international support to address the evolving threat of violent extremism and terrorism in the Sahel and to meet urgent humanitarian needs,” spokesman Stephane Dujarric added.
An Al-Qaeda-linked jihadist group said Saturday it had joined forces with rebels to launch what was one of the most complex attacks in years in the impoverished west African country.
The groups launched surprise dawn attacks around the capital Bamako and other regions, and Tuareg rebels said they had seized the northern city of Kidal.
Guterres “strongly condemns these acts of violence, expresses solidarity with the Malian people and stresses the need to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure,” the statement added.
He called for “robust security coordination and collaboration across the region.”…
All the UN ever does is “condemn” when the situation is already out of control, and “call for” action which results in nada. The UN and the leftist EU continue largely to ignore the spread of Islam by the sword as jihadists rampage through West Africa, primarily the Sahel. Likewise largely ignored is the Muslim genocide of Christians in Nigeria. Efforts on the ground are also ignored. Take, for instance, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) – a group fighting in Nigeria for a breakaway state in the Christian southeast. And another Biafran separatist group, the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), has been actively “positioning itself as a counter-jihadist force in West Africa, advocating for an independent Biafran state to protect Christian communities in Nigeria’s Southeast.” The BRGIE formally declared the independent United States of Biafra on December 2, 2024, and has since been lobbying for recognition. It has received some recognition in the U.S. Congress, which held a first-ever congressional briefing on Biafra in September of last year. But where is the United Nations to support the efforts of these groups, while it is now pretending to try to help Mali?
The truth is that Islam is rapidly conquering Africa by the sword, and the UN is more committed to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (which operates under the Sharia Cairo Declaration of Human Rights) than it is to its original mandate as articulated in the UN Declaration of Human Rights.
