The Islamic Republic is using these negotiations to buy time in order to regroup and fight again more effectively. As such, the mullahs need them more than Trump does. On the other hand, they know that his threats have proven empty before, and thus that they have some time to regroup even without making any concessions to the Great Satan.
“Iran pulls out of US peace talks and takes swipe at Donald Trump,” by Rebecca Robinson, Express, April 19, 2026:
Iran has reportedly rejected the second round of peace talks with the US they day before they were due to go ahead. The state IRNA news agency reported Tehran’s absence is due to “Washington’s excessive demands, unrealistic expectations, constant shifts in stance, repeated contradictions, and the ongoing naval blockade”.
US Vice President JD Vance was due to head Washington’s delegation in Islamabad, Pakistan, before Donald Trump said he had to pull out for “security concerns”. Now that tomorrow’s talks appear off the cards, it raises questions as to whether the current two-week ceasefire, which comes to an end on Wednesday, will be renewed.
The US President warned that the country will be “blown up” if they fail to agree on a new deal. “If they don’t sign this deal, the whole country is getting blown up,” he told Fox News.
He added in a furious post on Truth Social that “bridges and power plants will be targeted if Iran does not sign this agreement”.
Mr Trump launched the outburst after Iran quickly reversed its decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with shots fired at vessels passing through the vital route.
He raged: “Iran decided to fire bullets yesterday in the Strait of Hormuz — A Total Violation of our Ceasefire Agreement! Many of them were aimed at a French Ship, and a Freighter from the United Kingdom….

Washington’s demand Iran stop trying to deliver “Death to America” made the talks a non-starter/
Middle East Peace says
The more that Iran is economically devastated, the less spare funding Iran will have to support terror and violence by regional proxies like Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and the Iraqi Shia militias, let alone have the spare funding to create an offensive nuclear capability, or threaten Israel.
An economically weak Iran would contribute to peace in the Middle East.
Send Iran back to the 18th Century – economically.
Rosa Mari says
There will always be enough money for war. The Iranian people will just have less to eat.

Yes. We know that Islam and Islamic Law, Sharia, are the problem. Allah in Qur’an 8:39 says, “And engage in war with them[Non-Muslims] until there will not be sedition and the religion will be completely to Allah…”

Just enable Iranians to topple the regime, then they’ll be just fine. As far as faith goes, if they embrace Zoroastrianism, it’ll be a step forward, even if it is the 6th century

They can’t, they don’t have the guns, the regime does.

Hungry people are more inclined to conduct revolution to overthrow the ruling elites.
Westman says
There must be infighting for control between factions in Iran. The normal Islamic policy would be make an agreement and break it after the enemy is gone or at least receding.
One person who will never show up for negotiations is Allah.
Walter Sieruk says
If President Trump would settle for a negotiated peace agreement with those disingenuous despots still in power in that brutal; cruel oppressive murderous tyrannical Islamic regime of Iran that would mean that horrendous tyranny will continue and that all those decent good patriotic Iranians who had been murdered and maimed for life and unjustly imprisoned for only taking action for a legitimate ,genuine , which ensures the basic natural human rights of its citizen , would have died and suffered n vain. Therefore, its best to finish the job by getting it over with by destroying that “mullah regime” once and for all As its been rightly and wisely said “Half -measures in war is madness and folly.”
Walter Sieruk says
It’s really foolishness and folly of President Trump to even attempt to have a genuine negotiate peace agreement with To Illustrate ,,according to the Bible in Genesis chapter 3 Eve talked with Satan through the serpent . The result of that was terrible disaster for her and her husband Adam and for all future humankind. Likwise, President being willing to negotiate with the sons of Satan, meaning those villains in power in that Islamic tyranny , will only result in awful terrible disaster for America, for Israel ,for the Iranian people and for the world.
Walter Sieruk says
The Iranian people to have every righteous and just right to rise up to overthrow that brutal cruel oppressive tyrannical Islamic regime of Iran .Then they may be free to establish a legitimate , genuine, government which ensures and respects the basic natural natural human rights of its citizens.
Walter Sieruk says
Shame on President Trump to even try ,in the first place, to have “peace talks with that wicked Islamic tyranny so that it will remain in existence and further brutally oppress maim and murders the Iranians people.
For the people of Iran really should have much support, and constant support, which tragically they didn’t get ,to be able fight back against that horrendous tyrannical regime and then establish a legitimate government, which ensure and respects basic human rights..
In other words, the Iranian people have had unlimited US aid , in their righteous and just right to rise up to overthrow that horrendously brutal cruel viciously oppressive malicious and murderous tyrannical Islamic regime of Iran, After that they may have the chance to establish a legitimate, genuine , government which ensures and respects the basic natural human rights of its citizens.
For those ayatollahs mullahs and the other Muslim despots in tyrannical control in that Islamic regime of Iran terribly oppressed the Iranian people through their thugs in uniform who are called the “Islamic Revolutionary guards.’
Therefore, it’s no wonder that the people of Iran are celebrating that they are free of those tyrants in power in Iran. Nevertheless, because the that “mullah regime’s Islamic state police, Revolutionary guards, many Iranians still live in fear of those Muslim dictators of that Islamic tyranny.
As Benjamin Franklin in his periodical entitled POOR RICHARD’S ALMANAC printed, “For it reads “Those who are feared are also hated. “Nevertheless, there are limits to how far fear can suppress a terribly abused and oppressed people.
For the Iranian people had “reached a point where fear is no longer a deterrent” In high-level meetings, official regime official said.. He also remarked that the “People are extremely angry,” he said, adding a US attack could lead Iranians to rise up again. “The wall of fear has collapsed. There is no fear left.”
For when that tyrant Ayatollah Khamenei when he was alive and in power, was an enemy the Iranian people, through that misery and death inflecting horrific Islamic tyranny of Iran, which is evil in sense of that word, he pushes the people too far. Therefore, that Islamic tyranny should be and needs to be overthrown and replaced with a genuine government, which respects and safeguards that natural human rights and freedom which of the people should of Iran have.
Therefore, it’s fitting to relate to the concepts, precepts and guidelines of the Intellect philosopher John Locke, His basic principles. very much apply to this situation in Iran.
For Mr. Locke taught that any good government has the duty to ensure the security and safety of its citizens, So the people under the bondage and oppression of a tyrannical government do have every natural and ethical right to overthrow that terrible and oppressive tyrannical government.
Statler says
The way I read things in Iran, the IRGC has seized power.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
So far from the ayatollahs. But there is no longer one central leader since the killing of Larijani. There are instead several IRGCs all over the country, and each of them does their own thing. Which is one reason that our negotiations w/ the islamic regime is an exercise in futility – other than Trump loving negotiations, I see no reason why we’re doing it!
Rufolino says
For “Islamic Revolutionary Guard”, read SS & Gestapo.
Walter Sieruk says
It’s amazing how President Trump can be so very naive as to think that he might be able to come to some of “deal” of any worth with those disingenuous and outright lying despots of that diabolical “mullah regime’ of Iran . They their fiendish treachery, are liars and will have no intention of keeping of the promises that they might make.. In other words , any agreement they sign their names to wouldn’t be worth the paper it’s written on . It would be a farce and hoax of a deal , Trump should know better than to trust them, in any way..
Ralph says
In most situations, I would be happy if peace could be achieved by warring parties coming together in negotiations borne in good faith. Such is not possible with any aspect of Islam. The mullahs and the IRGC have to go, once and for all. No negotiating with Islam. The negotiations are a scam and always will be. It’s best to do the job right the first time.
Walter Sieruk says
Yes, Mark Levin is right when he said , “Finish the job” , as in “get it over with.” that is by elimination that menacing oppressive murderous tyrannical Islamic regime of Iran a danger to America , to Israel ,,to the Iranian people and all the of the civilized nations of the world ‘ Let’s not be naive, but realistic , that “mullah regime” is so totally evil that it can’t be changed for the better or reformed in way or by any means . Therefore , it should be destroyed and replaced with a genuine, legitimate with is a friend to America and Israel and respects the natural basic human rights of its citizens.
Walter Sieruk says
“Finish the Joe” is a short but the point statement . As someone else has also .rightly , said “Half- measures in war is madness and folly.”
