Graham Platner is a Maine oysterman who, without any previous political experience, is running to become the next Democratic Senator from Maine. Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders has endorsed him. And now Democrat Elizabeth Warren has been campaigning for him because, she says, he “is my kind of man.”
Asked about why she would say that when Platner in 2014 had expressed on Reddit his approval — “I dig it” — next to a video showing Hamas terrorists killing five Israeli soldiers, she avoided answering the question. Instead she said her comment (“He’s my kind of man”) was meant as approval of Platner saying that he finally understood the “corrupt system” in America after the financial crisis of 2008, when according to Senator Warren ten million people lost their homes and eight million people lost their jobs, and according to Platner, “not a single banker went to jail.” He had her at “not a single banker.”
Graham Platner presents himself as a man of the people, someone who is not afraid “to speak truth to power.” He wants everyone to know he was a Marine, served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and one tough guy. While he has welcomed the endorsement by Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders, he wants to make sure no one thinks he is a “liberal”: “To call me a liberal, I think is fairly amusing. I mean, I’m a competitive pistol shooter. That’s what I do on the weekends,” he said. “I’m a firearms instructor. I spent multiple years, obviously, in the service utilizing firearms. I also grew up in rural Maine, where guns are a part of our existence.” He shoots guns, he’s a competitive pistol shooter, so how could anyone possibly think he is that loathsome thing, a “liberal”?
Platner is against the war in Iran; he sees no conceivable reason for worrying about the fanatical Muslims in Tehran being able to manufacture nuclear weapons with which to threaten not just all of their neighbors, including Israel and the Gulf Arab states, but also Europe and the United States. Nor does he worry about Iran building ballistic missiles capable of reaching Europe and the east coast of the United States.
He says we “shouldn’t be invading other countries and killing children.”
He opposes the Democratic establishment, he says, for “expending American resources on foreign wars.” He is against providing any aid to Israel, even though that country has been fighting a six-front war for its survival, because that aid would entangle us in a “foreign war” on which no “American resources” should be spent. He seems not to care that Israel has never asked for a single American soldier to fight on its behalf.
Platner has openly called for ending U.S. support for Israel. He characterizes the events in Gaza as a “genocide.” He has stated that he rejects campaign contributions from AIPAC and the broader pro-Israel lobby. He has been critical of U.S.-Israeli cooperation, apparently unaware of the benefits that are reaped by the American defense industry from Israeli advances in weapons technology that are shared with the Americans.

Absolutely agree, somehistory. As one major example, look at the many DAs, e.g., Larry Krasner of Philadelphia, who have been re-elected even though their policies have terribly harmed many of the very people who voted for them.
Yes, I know that occasionally this or that Leftist loon has thankfully been voted out of office (e.g., DA George Gascon in Los Angles County) but not nearly enough of these malicious fools have been given the boot—like Warren who is a completely silly person, almost a parody of herself, but then look at the state she represents and which state has most definitely lost its collective mind, even in its more traditionally conservative western counties (N.B., all MA’s 14 counties, not one exception, voted for cackling Kamala in 2024). So, no wonder Pocahontas is plugging for Platner. After all, this well-educated fool also plugged for Mamdani— and confused people aplenty keep voting for these fools, so they are fools themselves and deserve what they voted for. Yep, confusion reigns all around.

The dem government had lots of guns and didn’t mind, through the mouth of biden, threatening regular Americans with being able to outshoot those who disagreed with things like, poison jabs, closing pipelines, bringing the hordes, etc..
Having guns, shooting guns, etc. is no guarantee he wouldn’t want to take them from people who didn’t like his policies.
And, if warren likes him then “he’s no good, he’s no good, he’s no good.” Goes to show how immoral many are that he favored what hamas did and warren likes him.

If Planter wants to be a US senator from Maine, he better be onboard with The Maine Defense industry Alliance. Lobster fishing, blueberries and LL Bean can bring only so much money into the state. General Dynamics Bath Ship Works, Pratt and Whitney and the U.S. Navy Portsmouth, ME along with over 100 smaller defense contractors and suppliers drive Maine’s economy. If elected, watch his attitude change from: They’re killing babies!, to: How big a slice out of the defense budget pie can I get for Maine?
Hopefully he will lose the election. He is not in alignment with the needs of his constituents, and he is not in alignment with the best interests of the US. In other words he is a loser endorsed by losers.
