There is one group of people that leftists hate almost as much as they hate patriots, and that’s other leftists. They always circle the wagons and defend one of their own from an attack from outsiders, but that never means that they are ever in a mood to set aside their petty disagreements and get along with people with whom they disagree. Leftists are fanatical ideologues whose politics serve them as an ersatz religion, and they persecute heretics with a zeal that would make a Medieval Inquisitor blush. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul just found that out.

I remember quite a few instances – from reading history – where communists kept laying into each other in civil conflicts.
1) Russian Bolsjeviks hunting down the Social Revolutionaries in the wake of the October Revolution
2) Post-independence Socialist factions in Bangladesh killing each other off : Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s paramiltaries against Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal’s guerilla’s and the Purba Banglar Sarbahara Party (Proletarian Party of East Bengal)
3) The Marxist-Leninist Derg regime of Mengistu Haile Mariam starting the Red Terror regime in Ethiopia against the socialists of EPRP (Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Party) and the MEISON (All-Ethiopia Socialist Movement : Mela Ītyōṗṗyā Soshalīsit Nik’inak’ē)
I suppose, if you dig quite a lot deeper you can find a lot more of these instances, as well.
In any case, these 3 examples were the first that sprang to mind when I started reading this.
So, never despair : the left can always claim to keep a united front in public, but it’s not going to last in the long run.
