Algeria: Pope’s message sparks ‘outrage among Christians, many of whom live with the daily threat to their lives’

The last pope, Pope Francis, was no better than Pope Leo, and may have been been worse. Pope Francis earned the sobriquet the Pope of Islam on Jihad Watch, but Pope Leo XIV is giving him stiff competition.

There comes a point when people have had enough of being lied to, played for fools  and deceived by the red-green axis of evil. The article below points out how Muslims have been persecuting Christians, and how the pope is insensitive to that fact. It isn’t Christians who are murdering Muslims for being Muslims.

The pope was already raising eyebrows with his obscene moral equivalence on his recent tour; Jihad Watch covered it HERE. But now he is sparking outrage, not only among observers in the West, but among the persecuted Christians themselves.

Pope Leo even went so far as to warn about “turning geopolitical rivalry into a civilizational struggle between Christianity and Islam.” Hasn’t that ship sailed long ago with Islam, and for the past 1,400 years of Islamic war against every other religion? Where has Pope Leo been?

Even the Muslim Mirror noted:

His remarks carried significance beyond a conventional appeal for peace, particularly because they came at a moment of escalating confrontation involving the United States, Israel and Iran, where narratives about civilisation, religion and geopolitical loyalty have increasingly shaped public discourse.

Pope Leo, like his predecessor, is on the wrong side of history.

During his first-ever apostolic journey to Algeria on April 13, Pope Leo XIV stood inside the historic Basilica of Our Lady of Africa in Algiers and delivered words that have already sparked outrage among Christians, many of whom live with the daily threat to their lives.

Addressing a tiny Catholic community in a nation that is more than 99 percent Muslim, the pope declared in a post on X: “Communion between Christians and Muslims takes shape under the mantle of Our Lady of Africa. Here, in #Algeria, the maternal love of Lalla Meryem gathers everyone as children, within our rich diversity, in our shared aspiration for dignity, love, justice, and peace. In a world where division and wars sow pain and death, living in unity and peace is a compelling sign.”

The rhetoric is fancifully poetic, but the reality it ignores is brutal. In Algeria itself, the very country the pope held up as a model of “shared aspiration,” Christians exist only by permission, under a 2006 ordinance that criminalizes evangelism of Muslims with penalties of two to five years in prison and steep fines. Distributing Bibles, posting Christian messages online, or even hosting a prayer meeting can trigger prosecution. Dozens of Protestant churches have been forcibly closed. The 2020 constitution erased explicit protection for freedom of conscience, leaving only “freedom of worship in accordance with the law”—a law written by and for the Islamic state. In a country that constitutionally defines itself as Islamic and treats conversion as a crime, the pope’s talk of “communion” and a “shared mantle” is not merely naïve. It is laughable.

The irony deepens when the pope speaks of a world “where division and wars sow pain and death” without once naming the documented pattern of anti-Christian violence by the hands of Muslims.

According to the Open Doors World Watch List 2026, nine of the ten countries where Christians face the most extreme persecution are Muslim-majority….

  1. Catholic Church leaders are lost and misguided to deal with Islam’s deceit, discrimination, segregation, violence, and terrorism as taught from Islamic Law and Islam’s Qur’an. Sadly, Catholic Leaders may be following the Catholic Church Catechism #841 that describes the Church’s relationship with Muslims, based on belief in One God and based on a common ‘Abrahamic Faith’ despite the actual evidence of Muslim violence and attacks.

    Also, the Catholic Church gains Hundreds of Millions of Dollars a year from Relocation Services for Migrants, Muslim Migrants. So, The Catholic Church Leaders have compromised thinking towards Islam.

Occasionally I watch the Catholic channel, EWTN, just to get the Catholic point of view on matters and a logo that keeps coming up on this channel reads “Live Truth Live Catholic.” I believe these two have diverged a good bit since Benedict XVI abdicated in 2013. Having two fools in a row as pontifex maximus is not a route to living with truth.

  5. We need a POPE that will defend our fellow Christians from being attacked and killed by these stinking Muslim murders. Wake Up POPE LEO for God’s sake.

  6. The Pope, along with so many of our cultural elites, is living by what I call the Prime Moral Imperative of our era. That moral imperative says that the One must accept the Other, lest the One be no better than a Nazi. The identities of the One and the Other varies depending on the cause, but with respect to sexism, the One is male and the Other is female. With respect to race, the One is white, and the Other is black. And when it comes to the Third World, the One is Western, and the Other is non-Western, but for some reason, leftists have decided that the non-Western Other is best represented by Muslims.

    Anyway, the milieu that the Pope is part of would call him a Nazi if he were to treat Muslims as the enemy. Perish the thought!

    Notice that this is a very defective moral code, for the simple reason that it applies only in one direction. That is, Muslims are not required to accept us, even though history shows that they have been just as brutal as Westerners when it comes to slavery and imperialism. Somehow, though, that never counts against them. Instead, the real crimes against humanity were committed by Westerners, who still have such tendencies, as is shown by their absolute refusal to accept Muslims.

    So long as this morality prevails among our elites, we are doomed.

If the Catholics in Africa quit showing up for the creature’s speeches about the wonderfulness of muzzies and how great it is to be among the murderers, rapists and kidnappers, and if they quit giving whatever money they can set aside for him and his grand palace, they would be doing themselves a favor.

    If they have Bibles, pick them up and read them instead of listening to the ‘pope.’ False shepherds are in it for the money and power.

They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.”

    Peter wrote this not long after Jesus left having told Peter to “feed my little sheep.” The words are very appropriate for today.

        The current ‘pope’ shares in the bloodguilt in Nigeria and other muzzie nations as he instructs Catholics to mingle and snuggle with the terrorists who will murder them.

  9. I’m glad to hear that plenty of people are getting outraged by this popes pathetic sucking up to Muslims. But there are so many other fools around who are just as pathetic as he is such as politicians, high up clergy in other churches, media fools, etc. they should have woken up Islam’s evil nature ages ago. They run a disgusting protection racket for Islam.

  10. Tragically, the Pope cannot be impeached.

    The only ways a papacy can end are through voluntary resignation, death, or total incapacity.

    The Catholics are stuck with him.

    • James, they can leave and become ex-Catholics if they decide he is doing them spiritual damage.
      Jesus is the Lord and Master. No human is worth surrendering their spiritual lives to.

        Yes, they could become ex-Catholics – that is certainly one approach – especially if they feel that the current pope is doing them spiritual damage. And the Catholic Church would certainly lose some funding.

        I do get that.

        That being said, many actually like their local parish priest regardless of the rot at the very top in the Vatican. As an analogy, during Biden’s fraudulent term, MAGA supporters despised Biden but liked their MAGA representatives to the U.S. Congress.

        Many local priests who I have spoken with personally actually despise the current pope as much as I do.

        Bottom line:

        I guess, every individual Catholic will have to decide for themselves.

        • Yes, James, it comes down to the bottom line. Jesus Himself said as much and so did His Apostles.
          “Each one must carry his own load.” What each one does or doesn’t do is judged by God for that one alone.

          Shepherds are meant to comfort the flock as much as ‘lead’ them. And in these troubled times, people do need comfort.

    • Correct. Islam is not a religion, but a political ideology. Martin Luther warned us about guys like Pope Leo (XIV)..
