Marrakech – The United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) issued an urgent travel warning for Algeria late on Monday after two suicide bombings struck the town of Blida, roughly 50 kilometers south of the capital Algiers.
The FCDO confirmed it is “aware of reports of an explosion on 13 April in the town of Blida” and urged British nationals in the area to “remain vigilant at all times and follow the advice of the local security authorities.”
The twin attacks unfolded in the early afternoon. The first explosion targeted the security directorate in central Blida. A second suicide bomber detonated near a food industry company in the same province. French media reports indicated that two attackers blew themselves up near the city’s central police station, killing themselves and wounding at least one police officer.
The bombings coincided with the arrival of Pope Leo XIV in Algeria, invited by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for what marked the first papal visit to the country. The pope was conducting the opening leg of an 11-day African tour set to take him to Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea.
A French diplomatic source told Le Monde the link between the attacks and the papal visit was “absolutely certain.” The source said the attackers sought to “punish Algeria for welcoming the leader of the infidels” and to send a message to Tebboune for “having the impudence to welcome the pope on Islamic soil.”…

When I read of the bombings, the blood and gore in the street, I guessed it was a couple of those goons which the ‘pope’ wanted to bring close for some communion, who just didn’t appreciate his visit.
Did it wake him up to the Truth? That is in serious doubt, based on his continuing actions and speeches.

The modern Catholic Church, I believe, has passed the point of no return. What with Vatican II, now two foolish Popes in a row, all the sex scandals covered up, the flagrant unpatriotic idiocy of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) pushing unchecked illegal immigration, Catholic Charities only too willing to also ignore American law, the absolute desultory state of Catholic universities which have been bought and paid for by the Islamic world and now as well steeped in the rot of Leftthink (e.g., Georgetown) and thus being Catholic in name only, Leo’s clear, unmistakeable repudiation of President Trump who is trying to rid the world of the foremost state sponsor of terrorism in all the world, etc., how can any informed and patriotic American brought up Catholic want to still remain Catholic?

The pope has said that Catholics are not allowed to critique Islam. Then he spoke about the peace that Islam brings, and how we should welcome more migrant Muslims into the west to solve the demographic problems, no word about abortions , drug use, welfare theft by Muslims , and housing shortage (not for Muslims, it’s free).

I think the church is going more and more left to attract the higher net worth, techy types, single young women into the fold.
These people don’t want to hear anything about the old ways, they are bringing their newly acquired ideas from elite universities and demanding change.
I went to a Catholic Church couple years ago, I was totally appalled with what I was hearing. I put it all together later on. They have no problem at all with getting rid of people like yourself. They actually want conservatives gone.
The priest, who looked like a soy boy Pdf, seems to me to be totally out of whack with basic doctrine. Every thing is up for interpretation by him. He had no f-ing knowledge about Islam whatsoever but he supports Muslims coming . He was so dumb he didn’t even know Muslims were persecuting Christians, or maybe he can’t come out and even entertain these facts because of the pressure from the church and congregation.
At the end of the day, he has a business to run, the church and the school, and the congregation doesn’t want to hear anything blip about conservative ideas.
Still, I know another church which is like a break off Catholic Church, where many fled to, smaller and tightly knit. They do that old Latin prayer thing, which is now banned because they don’t want to offend the new techies.

I obviously don’t support the Church, but to trash it’s leaders and, whether specifically or by inference, those who believe its teachings–some of whom do post here–does not benefit this site’s purpose.
The Pope deserves appropriate criticism, of course, not just internecine derision.

I see them moving more left rapidly, so by the time there is a minor right ward shift, they’d simply be where we are now and call it conservative, even this is very unlikely.
Mostly this is driven by the church in the west looking for younger wealthier liberal congregants. Also, I noticed the Catholic schools are a major make factor because these parents now demand much more liberal attitudes in these attached schools / churches. Often times, these same parents have a large role in selecting priests that fit their beliefs.
If there is something that the priest can’t by doctrine totally go left, he shuts up or the donations don’t come in. The conservative faction is somehow going to pay up anyway, so who cares what they think. They must have done the math on this.
With Islam, the new approach is dig a hole, and stick your head in it I guess, by the church. They will just pretend it is great for Christians in Islamic lands, and Trump and netanyau are the cause of all problems.

Wellington, all he ever seems to go on with is peace, peace and more peace. Of course, peace is wonderful but you can’t ever have peace if you have vicious, violent Muslims. I like having a peaceful life and that is why I want Muslims banned from all non Muslim countries. Somehistory, this pope is a member of the Augustinians and apparently he went to Algeria to honour st Augustine of hippo which is now Annaba, Algeria. I wouldn’t go to any Muslim country, don’t want to give them any money and everything about islam repulsed me. The pope seems clueless about islam. He probably should stay in Christian countries and tell Muslims to stop murdering Christians and other non Muslims.
