Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-McSorley’s Wonderful Saloon) has in the past declared her opposition to U.S. aid to Israel for defensive weapons. But now, at a moment of maximum peril for the embattled Jewish state, which is engaged in a six-front war, and with the Islamic Republic of Iran having launched more than 300 ballistic missiles at the Jewish state in just the last month, she has gone farther still. She told a meeting of the Democratic Socialists of America that she now opposes all aid to Israel, whether for defensive or offensive weapons. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said Wednesday [April 1] the U.S. should not provide funding for Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system, clarifying her position on the issue.
“The Israeli government is well able to fund the Iron Dome system, which has proven critical to keep innocent civilians safe from rocket attacks and bombardment,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on social platform X. “Consistent with my voting record to date, I will not support Congress sending more taxpayer dollars and military aid to a government that consistently ignores international law and U.S. law.”…
What AOC fails to comprehend is that Israel is not fighting only for itself. When it attacks Hezbollah, it is also helping the government of Lebanon to regain control of its own country from the terror group that for many years has held that government, and the people of Lebanon, in thrall. When Israel responds to Houthi attacks, hitting its weapons and thereby reducing the Houthis’ ability to hit ships in the Red Sea, it is helping keep that strategic waterway open to commercial shipping from dozens of countries. Israel is helping to keep the Red Sea open to commercial shipping. When Israel destroys Iran’s nuclear facilities, its stockpile of ballistic missiles, and its missile plants, it is also helping every country that the mad mullahs have been attacking. After the Little Satan, Israel, Tehran’s most important target is the Great Satan, the United States. The Americans know that if Iran were ever to acquire nuclear weapons and the warheads to deliver them, the East Coast of the United States would be in grave peril. The IDF can now take risks in bringing the war home to Iran because of its certainty of having a robust anti-missile defense.
Since February 28, when Israel’s Operation Roaring Lion and America’s Operation Epic Fury began, Iran has been attacking every one of its Arab neighbors. The last month has shown the Gulf Arab states — the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman — that Israel is not their enemy, but rather, their fellow victim of, and protector from, Iran. The Islamic Republic has hit oil and gas production facilities, power plants, desalination plants, electricity grids, chemical plants, in those Arab states, and with each blow from Iran those states quite sensibly draw closer to Israel. AOC turns out to be more anti-Israel than tens of millions of Arabs in the Gulf.
Israel’s defense spending now amounts to $46 billion, which is 12% of its GDP, the highest in the world. Unlike the European members of NATO, who have had to be cajoled and threatened to raise their contribution to the alliance of an amount equal to 5% of their GDP, Israel needs no prodding. It is giving its all in the defense of the West. But that cuts no ice with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Israel has also developed new weapons, including the Iron Dome and the laser-based Iron Beam, that are shared with the American military. Such advances in defensive weapons might not have been made so swiftly had the Americans not contributed to funding them. And if AOC gets her way, not one thin dime will go from America to Israel for any of its weapons.

I view AOC differently from someone like Omar or Tlaib. All are fools but the latter two are evil fools while AOC is “merely” an ordinary fool. Rather like the difference between Hitler (an evil fool) and Chamberlain (an ordinary fool).
And yes, I consider Hitler a fool as I do other highly intelligent and capable human beings, further examples being Marx, Lenin, Stalin and Mao. All who cannot see that freedom accompanied by a “muscularity” to preserve it are fools in a most important category of human reasoning, i.e., moral intelligence.
This is my take on what constitutes foolishness and its two main kinds. I will stand by it until I can be shown that I am in error, and which possible refutation I would welcome.

Let’s just focus on Hitler and no others—at least for now. This horrible man (here I am sure we will agree) was, I would argue, astute diplomatically in the 1930s (e.g., remilitarizing the Rhineland in 1936 and predicting that France, Belgium and even the UK would do nothing but lodge complaints, never mind his taking over Austria in March of 1938 and the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia in September of that same year) and, militarily speaking, was astute as well in the early years of WWII (e.g., overpowering Poland in a month in September of 1939 and the brilliant move through the Ardennes in the Spring of 1940 which led to the conquest of France in just six weeks). Yes, Hitler eventually failed because unlike so many other brilliant conquerors in history, he didn’t know when to stop (Bismarck, as an exception, did know when to stop once he had created the Second Reich and this is immensely to his credit).
Many brilliant Germans, in the military and otherwise, spoke of their admiration and even amazement with Hitler. What? Were they also fools, not realizing that the man was NOT highly intelligent and capable? He dazzled many, of this there could be no doubt—and he made fools of many, for instance Chamberlain and Daladier. Only a highly and intelligent person could have accomplished what Hitler did. There is no other way to figure this.
I agree with you that Hitler was a homicidal maniac but where is it written that a homicidal maniac can’t also be highly intelligent and capable? I posit here that you have made an assumption not rooted in fact. From a medical perspective, Hitler likely had late-stage syphilis as well as a degenerative neurological disease (possible Huntington’s disease or Parkinson’s) along with amphetamine psychosis.

I think there can be no doubt, James, that in at least the last year of his life Hitler for many reasons was a broken man and deeply mentally and physically ill but for most of his time as head of the Nazi Party, which he brilliantly took over in 1920 and reshaped it as he saw fit, and certainly from 1933 onwards, he was a diabolically clever man and shaped the future of German and world history as only an extremely able man could do, though for great ill and not good. When looking at his early work in bringing back Germany to an industrial and stable state and his rekindling of German nationalism from youth to adults(we call it patriotism), it was successful. If he did not exist, yes, another would have taken his historical place, that is obvious. The victorious allies placed a burden on Germany that would inevitably lead Germany to re-arm under any leadership. We learned not to repeat it. I personally have original Deutsche Marks stamped over the original value by two additional zeros that a deceased relative brought back from Germany in the 1930s.
However, Hitler became mentally ill, less intelligent, and more evil over the years likely due to an STD invading his brain. He was eventually insane and incapable of competent leadership.
The West is fond of saying Hitler was a paper-hanger and a failed artist as if those erased the qualifications to lead a nation. We have some serious inconsistencies in that regard, very similar to our intelligentcia-left saying Trump is stupid because it makes them feel better about their own small accomplishments. Admittedly, age may be now degrading Trump’s abilities as well. None of us escape the degeneration of our bodies in old age.

He worked at several very high-end restaurants and was responsible for all bar operations including stocking all supplies.
To be a top rate bartender at a top rate establishment takes some doing.

The entire US Congress consists of 535 members. They are elected out of roughly 330,000,000 Americans. It is at times hard to conceive that out of such a huge population morons like Sandy Cortes and those too moose scums wind up elected.
