This year’s news cycle is evolving at an unprecedented pace, making mere months feel like a lifetime in today’s political environment.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will soon hit 90 days in office, and the young politician has managed to fill his short time as leader of one of America’s most important cities with a litany of policies and positions that would make any anti-Israel Democratic Socialist proud.
Many left-leaning Jewish voters who cast their vote for Mamdani, believing that the ambitious, inexperienced mayor would be far too consumed with learning to manage the largest municipal budget in the country to indulge his anti-Zionist objectives, are now facing the consequences of their electoral choices.
Within minutes of taking office, the new mayor got to work signing several executive orders that removed critical protections for Jews, including revoking New York City’s adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism.
A surge in antisemitic attacks soon took hold, with hate crimes against Jews increasing 182 percent during Mamdani’s first month in office compared to the same period from the previous year. It’s hard to believe there is not some correlation between the two.
Mamdani displays no signs of retreating from his radicalism. On the contrary, he appears to be hardening his ideological, anti-Israel fixations, while using his platform to demonize the Jewish State….
Mamdani has stacked his administration with dozens of Muslims. New York taxpayers are paying for these people, “activists” who, in joining the city government, have used their offices to further a Muslim agenda.
Mamdani’s electoral victory has caused others in his party to move to the left in their views of Israel. Some, including California governor Gavin Newsom, have been echoing his anti-Israel animus, which, they believe, not only did not harm Mamdani’s campaign but contributed to his election.
Mamdani has not modified any of his unpleasant views about Israel. He still calls Israel an “apartheid” state and has repeatedly described the IDF’s campaign in Gaza as a “genocide.” He has accused Netanyahu of committing a “genocide,” and still stands by his threat to arrest the prime minister should he ever appear in the city. He refuses to denounce the call to “globalize the Intifada,” which means, rightly understood, that all Jews everywhere are fair game for the “resistance.” His wife Rama Duwaji is even more venomous.
Yet Mamdani continues to be treated with kid gloves by those who should be going after him hammer and tongs for his sickening antisemitism and calumny of Israel. And he seems to be getting away with it. Other Democrats who might once have been firmly among Israel’s supporters, have been moving closer to Mamdani’s views, for they see that those views have not harmed him politically but stood him in good stead at the voting booths. But it’s early days, and at some point Mamdani the Deceiver, the “smyler with the knyf under his cloke,” as Chaucer anthropomorphizes “treachery with hidden weapons,” is going to stumble and go too far. Perhaps his opposition to the war against Iran being waged by the U.S. and Israel, a war Mamdani has labelled a “catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression,” will bring him down. If the Iranian regime falls, and 80 million (out of a total population of 90 million) greet the Islamic Republic’s collapse with a delirium of joy, Mamdani — who opposed the war that brought about that collapse — will not look good.

NYC will crash soon when it runs out of money. as it did back in 1975 when Mayor Beame inherited a financial crisis from Mayor Lindsay. But Mamdani will make it worse because he believes in raising taxes to the exclusion of tightening the fiscal belt. The Wall Street powerhouses and all their money are fleeing NYC for Texas. Watch lower Manhattan turn into a ghost town in a few years. Then watch the wealthy flee to Florida if NYS gives NYC the go-ahead to implement an estate tax.
Then watch the working class flee to the Carolinas when government services are cut to the bone, and they see that they are working to support the welfare roles, with nothing left for them.

It can be argued that Christianity is built on a bedrock of antisemitism since its founders rejected their own Jewish faith and cursed the Jews for having “murdered” Jesus Christ.
Consider that in Catholicism there is, or used to be, a prayer to urge the Jews to convert to Christianity.
So Muslims despise the infidel Christians but Christians disdain the intractable Jews who do not accept Jesus as the Messiah.
So in this the Muslims and Christians are on the same team.

I have nothing against the Jews. I don’t compare them unfavorably with any other group. I have worked for Jews, and have spoken to many more.
