The Washington Post, like all the other establishment media propaganda organs, never saw a bloodthirsty America-hating dictator it didn’t like.
“Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, is dead at 86,” by William Branigin, Washington Post, February 28, 2026:
With his bushy white beard and easy smile, Ayatollah Khamenei cut a more avuncular figure in public than his perpetually scowling but much more revered mentor, and he was known to be fond of Persian poetry and classic Western novels, especially Victor Hugo’s “Les Misérables.” But like the uncompromising Khomeini, he opposed moderates’ efforts to promote political and social reforms domestically and to secure rapprochement with the United States.
And he was, of course, that ever-present unicorn, a “moderate”:
Some Iranians who knew Ayatollah Khamenei before he became supreme leader described him as a “closet moderate,” Karim Sadjadpour, a leading researcher on Iran with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, wrote in a 2008 study. Others, however, took him at face value, Sadjadpour said: “a deeply religious, ideologically rigid, anti-American cleric whose politics are stuck in the anti-imperialist euphoria of the 1979 revolution.”

And per the MSM Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was an Islamic scholar. Too bad the media is no longer on the side of the good guys like it was during WWII but those days are long gone.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
I wonder why they didn’t describe Khamenei as an islamic scholar? Was it b’cos WaPo recognizes sunni islam as the real islam, and shi’a as an islamic heresy?
I liked the mass layoffs at the WaPo last month, but don’t think it’s even nearly enough. Bezos needs to do what Jack Dorsey did at Block and fires even more of his staff than he has. According to John Nolte at Breitbart, he has, by some accounts, fired some 45% of his staff, but that’s not nearly enough! He needs to let go of 90%, and make the Post just cover events in DC – in J-street and K-street
With any luck, WaPo should have the same fate as Khamenei, but simply by terminating their funding
Westman says
Yes, I remember his smile after he said to a chanting audience: “Yes, death to Israel, death to America…”
Yes, we remember the phoney act of goodness while his henchmen carried out his, “opposition to moderates”, with torture, rape, mass murder of citizens, and hung, “strange fruit”, from cranes.
Ayatollah Khamenei was incredibly evil without the least awareness of it. While it’s true that no evil persons believe they are evil, no philosophy has manufactured more evil doers, free of conscience, than Islam. All it required was a “revelation” from a “diety” to dictate that those who don’t accept its authority are unworthy to live and everything they have, including them, is yours.
Does anyone else smell Jeff Bezos looking out for future business in this WaPo article?
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Actually, if he had trashed Khamenei, he could have started a Farsi-language newspaper in Iran after the new regime took over. Although Iranians who are aware about WaPo biases may have shunned it
Cynthia says
The soft voices and smiles are all part of the deception. This is how they pray while killing, raping and mutilating.
This is not understood by the useful idiots of the west.
Westman says
Right on, Cynthia.
The Mullahs remind me of Nurse Ratched in, “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”, believing they are doing good for Allah while administering evil.
SKA says
Gosh no mention that he was an “austere religious scholar?”
࿗Infidel࿘ says
He wasn’t austere: his palace was pretty upscale. Although after the Israeli bombing, it no longer is
But yeah, as I noted above, WaPo prefers sunni to shi’a islam?

And Stalin had a nice haircut and great teeth.
So what? That’s not what he’s remembered for.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
You overlooked his great mustache – one of the best I’ve ever seen! 😈
Rarely says
Right you are (and his teeth were really very bad). One must have respect and love for anyone with a great mustache.

The Washington Post ought to report on the bushy, bushy billions and billions of “dollars” of Khamenei’s stashed personal wealth. How did he get it? Where is it? Did he take 20% booty like model man, Mohammad? Did he pay the Islamic required 2.5% Zakat required by one of the five pillars of Islam?
Bushy white, sly smile BS!
Luchtpint says
Makes me think of Zia Ul-Haq, the dictator who reintroduced punitive sharia law in Pakistan. He went by the nickname “the laughing cobra”.

Tim gallagher says
If the evil, sadistic piece of shit was smiling it was at the thought of people being tortured and murdered by his stinking, totally inhumane regime. Anyway either the shithead is nothing now, or, if there is an afterlife and reward for his evil life then he is being fried in the hottest part of hell and well deserved.

Yep…
James Lincoln says
So, who actually reads the Washington Post anymore?
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Yeah, I wonder whether even the K-street types do? The reason Bezos bought that paper was to use it to try and influence the K-street people, and get policies that he championed pushed through them via WaPo. But these days, Politico and Axios have the most details of what’s going on in Capitol Hill, if not in Pennsylvania Avenue, so even for the wonk crowd, I don’t see how WaPo is of any use to them
Greg says
Certainly whiped the smile offa his face!
nicholas william tesdorf says
It was not a bushy white beard and easy smile; it was face fungus and an evil, twisted grimace.
tgusa says
Washington Post affectionately notes Khamenei’s ‘bushy white beard and easy smile’. Why don”t they tell the truth? We all know they just want to lovingly caress the hair on his leg.

Well, of course–just like Santa Claus! Actually, that “easy smile” is a more of a smirk at the hanging of gay people and rape and execution of virgins…
