Texas: Austin bar mass murderer is Muslim migrant, had Qur’an in car

How many mass murderers have to be carrying Qur’ans before authorities anywhere in Europe or North America begin to get the idea that maybe, just maybe, there is something in that book that incites violence?

“Austin bar mass shooter possibly motivated by Iran attacks, Quran found in car as FBI eyes terrorism after 2 killed, 14 injured,” by Joe Marino, Patrick Reilly, and Chris Nesi, New York Post, March 1, 2026:

The fiend behind Sunday’s bloodbath at a packed Austin bar was an ex-New York City resident wearing a “Property of Allah’’ hoodie — and possibly out for vengeance over the US attack on Iran, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

Texas shooter Ndiaga Diagne, 53, had a Quran in his car and was possibly also wearing an undershirt featuring the Iranian flag or other Iranian symbols when he opened fire on Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden near the University of Texas-Austin campus, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

Diagne, a US citizen originally from Senegal, was naturalized in 2013 and applied for asylum in 2016, sources said.

The gunman was a known emotionally disturbed person in both the Big Apple and Texas, sources said.

He also had a history of arrests in New York City and Texas. He is believed to have lived in the Big Apple for years, arriving in 2000 and then racking up a string of arrests between 2001 to 2016, sources said.

He was arrested in 2001 for illegal vending. His other three city busts are sealed, sources said.

“Obviously it’s still way too early in the process to determine the exact motivation but there were indicators on the subject and in his vehicle that indicate potential nexus to terrorism,” said Alex Doran, acting Special Agent in charge of the FBI’s San Antonio office, to reporters….

  1. This is why we need an explicit muslim ban – based not on country, but on religion (loosely speaking here on the false definition of islam as a religion, but I digress!) The ban we have on several countries – most of them muslim – does not filter out muslims from countries not listed, such as Senegal. Just like conversely, I’d have no issues w/ Nigerian Christians or Copts or Syrian Christians coming in

        The ban by country is not working. Let’s say we’re okay w/ Christians from muslim countries falling within the ban. But there’s still the issue of muslims from non-muslim countries such as India or Uganda – like Mamdani

        • I agree, the problem is vexing and probably what we should do is, like I said, stop all migration to the US, take a breather. I was in Walmart this morning and it felt like I was in a third world country, thanks to Lutheran social services who doesn’t give a shit about these people once they get into the country. Everyone one of them was shopping on my dime not the Lutheran Church’s.

    • This goes to my multi-year contention, Infidel, that Islam does not have to be banned or declared not to be a religion but rather what needs to be publicly and officially acknowledged is that not all religions are ipso facto good. And yes, I understand this would indeed put something of a challenge on the First Amendment’s freedom of religion clause though it could be argued this is already taken care of to some extent via the distinction between pure belief (absolutely protected) and action upon belief (not absolutely protected).

      In any case, the extinct Aztec religion was not good. Satanism is not. And so is it the case with Islam.

      Proper identification, rather than banning or denying religious status, is the way to go I believe. After all, here in America Nazism is not banned but it is properly described as malevolent. So is it the case with Marxism though, quite unfortunately, the Leftward tilt of so much in America—the entertainment industry, the MSM, academia and even one of America’s two major political parties–has gone so far to the Left that often it is Marxism in disguise.

      So, just apply this to religion as well on the basis that no freedom in the Constitution is absolute with no exceptions—can’t falsely yell “fire” in a crowed theatre and then claim freedom of speech protection per the First Amendment. This could be the Constitutional route to banning Muslim immigration.

      Having stated all this, I am not absolutely opposed any longer to banning Islam outright but the Constitutional hurdles here would be at least as great, if not more, than allowing Islam but accurately describing it and proceeding from there.

        I’m no longer convinced that our judges – from lower courts to SCOTUS – are capable of telling the difference

        Even more than that, if muslims are taught that they can believe in qur’anic teachings – from wife-beatings to killing infidels, then there is no way they can be convinced that acting on those beliefs would get them into trouble. This is a very perilous distinction that you’re looking to make

    • I believe it could work like the Law does with other terror/criminal organizations. Such as the AB. The government does not ‘outlaw’ or ‘ban’ the group, but since it is recognized as a criminal enterprise, being a member of it makes one a criminal.

      If islime was recognized as a criminal organization, being a member of it would be a crime punishable by Law.
      RICO would be used to round up any muzzies staying in country after the legal declaration was made.

    • At least we’ve come far enough to identify the Moslem murder as a terrorist. That’s something at least. We still lost 3 lives, and much larger, we still added the looming threat of more to come.

    • I understand the thought, but a long time ago, Robert Spencer addressed the ‘forswear Islam’ issue.

      Bottom line, of course, they’ll say what’s needed to proceed.

      And then, sometime later…

      Personally, until our politicians publicly state how Islam threatens us (chapter and verse), the horde will continue its march.

    • Ironic it happened in Austin, Texas’s most left wing city. But I wouldn’t expect low IQ people to be selective when it comes to killing Americans

    It takes money to move across the country. Just wondering who funded his move from NY to TX?
    What kinds of jobs has he had? What lies will his family tell to help him escape punishment?

  5. Leaving the constitutional questions aside for a moment, wouldn’t the United States be better if:

    1. It banned all muslims coming into the country.

    2. It deported as many muslims as legally possible.

    3. It closed all mosques.

    • Leaving the questions aside, the answer is Yes.

      And if islam was determined to be a criminal organization, labeled as such, muzzies would be subject to arrest for simply being a member of it.
