The illegal Turkish occupation that began in 1974 has split Cyprus by ethnicity and religion, with Greek Christian and Turkish Muslim Cypriots living on either side of a UN-patrolled border. The Republic of Cyprus controls two-thirds of the island and is internationally recognized, while Turkey’s puppet, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, occupies the northern third, and is recognized only by Turkey.
All eyes will now be on Turkey, as the jihad terror threat linked to Iran grows in in Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus.
Concerns over potential spillover into EU territory have reached Brussels. At Monday’s Security College, the European Commission decided to maintain “heightened vigilance and close cooperation with Europol” and step up cooperation with Europol on internal security risks.
“If Iranians reach a point of desperation, they may resort to chaotic terrorism – in which independent cells, with no direct contact with Tehran, are instructed to act freely,” a regional intelligence source told Euractiv.
Cyprus is also wary of Hamas – the Iran-backed group based in Gaza. According to the source, Hamas maintains representation structures and student networks in the Turkish-occupied north of the island. Hamas is also supported by Turkey as part of the wider Muslim Brotherhood movements in the region.
Europe already had a jihad problem given its suicidal immigration policies, which leftist leaders initiated. Now the public in the EU faces a worse fallout.

A senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also warned on Monday of intensified missile strikes on Cyprus – claiming that the United States has significantly expanded its military footprint on the island.

I know that Cyprus doesn’t – and shouldn’t – recognize Turkish occupation in the northern part of their island. But they do have a responsibility to keep their own citizens safe. To that end, they should build a wall – even if temporary – on the boundary separating the 2 sides, so that jihadists – whether pro-IRGC or pro-Erdogan – can’t get in
I do hope that some of the Iranian missiles/drones headed the way of Cyprus end up taking out Turkish assets in the Turkish part of the island. Just like I hope that one Iranian missile succeeds in demolishing al Aqsa

There should be a huge wall instead of the UN patrolled border between Cyprus and the Turkish squatters. I don’t have much confidence in the UN to begin with, so there’s that.
And I wouldn’t put it past the snake Erdogan to pull something further in Cyprus for his benefit.

Yeah, GE. I suspect that the Cypriots would push back on that, since it would be almost conceding that Northern Cyprus is not a part of their country. But it need not be: they can have a wall as long as Turkish occupation lasts, and if a day comes when the Turks are forced to leave, they can reclaim the entire island and then pull down that wall
