It is one thing when Israel denounces the Palestinian Authority for its corruption, and for its continued support for terrorism through its “Pay-For-Slay” program, that rewards past, and incentivizes future, acts of terrorism. The PA is riddled with corruption; President Mahmoud Abbas set the unhappy example, for he and his two sons Tarek and Yasser have accumulated a fortune of at least $100 million, with some American analysts believing that it may be considerably more. In addition, Abbas rewards his loyalists with large sums stolen from the aid money given to the PA, intended to benefit all of the people under the PA’s authority.
But now we have something unexpected: Tawfiq Tirawi, a leader in the PA’s ruling party and a former head of the PA’s intelligence, has tried in vain for years to have the leaders in the PA investigate the corruption in their government. When even Tawfiq Tirawi — a senior leader of the Palestinian Authority (PA)’s ruling party, Fatah, and the former director and co-founder of its General Intelligence Service — says the system is rotten to the core, it is a stark indication of just how deeply corruption is embedded in the PA.
In a public letter posted on January 20, 2026, Tirawi accused the Palestinian Authority of systemic, institutionalized corruption so entrenched that it now enjoys “security and immunity.”
Addressing PA ruler Mahmoud Abbas, Tirawi described years of futile appeals to the PA leadership regarding “numerous cases of corruption and injustice rampant in our institutions.” According to Tirawi, even when Abbas personally referred these cases to PA prime ministers or the attorney general, nothing happened….
Note that Tirawi does not mention that it is Mahmoud Abbas himself who is the most corrupt of all the PA’s leaders, judging by the $100 million (and possibly more) that he has accumulated as president-for-life of the PA. Tirawi knows that if he made such an accusation, he’d be expelled from the PA, and possibly forced out of Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) altogether. He might even meet an untimely end, as another critic of the PA’s corruption, Nizar Banat, did, beaten to death by Abbas’ goons.
While Tirawi’s letter is intriguing, as it reveals what the PA truly is on the inside, do not be fooled. Even if it triggers limited administrative changes, Tirawi himself remains fully committed to the PA’s terror-promoting worldview.
Tirawi is only addressing corruption within the PA. He has no quarrel with the PA’s unending war with Israel, nor with the “Pay-For-Slay” program.
Do you think that the BBC or CNN will report on Tawfiq Tirawi’s open letter denouncing the massive corruption in the PA, or that it will be the subject of a piece in The New York Times, The Washington Post, or The Guardian? Don’t be silly. Such a report would only harm the image of the PA, and thereby might be helpful to defenders of Israel. That, of course, would never do.

What’s also amazing about mahmoud Abbas (Abu mazen) is he and his wife get free medical care in Israeli hospitals. He is also the mastermind of the ma’alot massacre of 29 Israeli elementary school children. Perhaps because he began adulthood as a teacher? He is also the provider of the funds for the munich Olympics massacre. But like the Syrian neck chopper leader, they both have suits and ties, so all must be well.

Yeah, Israel should really end this. “Love your enemy” ain’t a doctrine in Judaism, afaik, so there is no reason for Israel to spend its medical efforts on people like Mahmoud Abbas, Yahya Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh…. when they can spend it exclusively on Israeli citizens
