There is a growing number of people in majority-Muslim areas who are seeing Islam for what it is: a rule of terror and oppression. For one of the first times in history, many of these people are publicly leaving Islam. In the Islamic Republic of Iran, a survey several years ago showed that only 40% of the people still consider themselves Muslim. Only more terror, in the form of the death penalty for apostasy, will get these people back into the Islamic fold.

He may say that, but most Kurds are not Zoroastrian. Some may be Yazidi, but the bulk of them are still muslims. We see that in Europe, where Kurds are not very different from Arabs, Pakis and others when it comes to their behavior towards Whites
It’s the same thing w/ Balochistan. I’ve seen Hindus advocate supporting the Balochi secessionist movement in Pakistan, and the only thing I can do is point them to Bangladesh. Seemed hunky dory back in 1971, but just ask Hindus from that country today how it is. There is a major Hindu shrine in Balochistan, which marks the westernmost outpost of Hindu civilization – the Hinglaj Mata shrine, which is what endears some Hindus to Balochistan. However, the bulk of Balochis do not worship Hinglaj mata: they worship allah, just like the Kurds do
Balochis and Kurds (dunno about Iranian Kurds) don’t have the same opposition to islam that most Iranians now have, if GAAMAN surveys are to be believed. They are still muslim, so we need to be reserved about supporting them

It’s not for everyone. This one-size-fits-all is misguided, whether one is talking about islam or Christianity or anything else. Every people have their own original faith, which they could adapt, or none at all, if they choose to be atheist, agnostic or non-denominational. Being Kurds, Yazidi faith sounds right for them

I’m seeing a trend on the right at the moment which would have us believe that everyone from Iran is an apostate or a non-muslim … What poppycock .. Iran has more than it’s share of jihadis and fundamentalists as we will doubtless discover when it’s too late and our leaders have allowed countless droves of them into the West .. Apostates and non-muslims are fine but keep the rest of them the hell away

It’s about 20% of their population, or 18 million. Which is right – too many! But I don’t think we should be discounting the remaining 72 million who are now Atheists, Agnostics, non-denominational Deists or Zoroastrians

Sadly, this is not true of all or even most Kurds. 75% to 90% of Kurds are Muslim.
