Iran, Hizballah and other anti-US Islamic voices use Epstein scandal to smear US and Israel

There is indeed a “deep moral crisis” present within the “governing system of Western countries,” but it does not define the West. Individual perpetrators are responsible for corruption and abuse; none of these corrupt officials is acting in accord with sanctioned religious tenets. For example, “senior Houthi official Hazam al-Assad wrote on social media that Western countries had spent years criticizing Islam over issues such as child marriage and child recruitment while allegedly engaging in abuse themselves.” Al-Assad is wrong in his attempt at any comparison. When certain leaders within Western countries commit such abuses, it is widely regarded as corrupt, repulsive, and criminal. Such behaviors are  deeply frowned upon. Child marriage, on the other hand, is practiced in Islam, after the model of Muhammad:

the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: I have been informed that `Aisha remained with the Prophet for nine years (i.e. till his death). Sahih al-Bukhari 5134

Islam also sanctions wife-beating (Qur’an 4:34), the inferiority of women, and full coverings for women (Qur’an 24:31, Qur’an 33:59). The West upholds equal rights for women.

Epstein and his partners acted criminally of their own free will, outside of all human decency and outside the boundaries of all actual Western values.

Media outlets and officials across the Arab world are closely following developments in the Jeffrey Epstein case, with Iran and its regional allies using the scandal to advance longstanding accusations of Western moral corruption and to direct criticism at the United States and Israel.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei was asked about the case Sunday and described it as “a sign of a very deep moral crisis in the governing system of Western countries, especially given the involvement of many senior political figures.”

He added that from another perspective, the affair was also a criminal matter and a tragedy that had hurt public sentiment worldwide. Referring to Israel, Baghaei said suspicions were growing that the case had been “a long-term project to advance the political goals of certain actors, especially the Zionist regime.”..
