India is now the most populous nation in the world. Its economy will soon be the third largest, after the U.S. and China. It has a great need for advanced weaponry, and is the Israeli defense industry’s best customer. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes a dim view of Islam and of Muslims. He knows, even if the Western world does not, that when the Muslims ruled India, they massacred between 70 and 80 million Hindus, only stopping when they realized it was better to let the Hindus stay alive, as “tolerated” dhimmis, and to live off the capitation tax, or jizyah, that could be exacted from them.
Modi has just been visiting Israel, where he addressed the Knesset, the first Indian leader to do so, and was greeted with hosannas, in what was a complete triumph for the Indian leader. At the Knesset, he assured his audience of India’s unshakeable support and friendship for the Jewish state. Is it true that India “stood firmly and clearly by Israel’s side”? At the UN General Assembly, On October 27, 2023, India abstained from voting in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on a resolution calling for a “humanitarian truce.” It could have noted “No,” but chose not to.
On Thursday, the prime ministers will visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum and hold an expanded meeting at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.
The leaders will then sign a series of agreements between Israel and India in the economic, security, and diplomatic fields, “boosting cooperation between the two nations.” This will be followed by joint press statements, the PMO confirmed.
In its view of the Jewish state, India has come a long way. Originally India had opposed the creation of a Jewish state, but in 1950, recognized Israel. But for the next sixty-plus years, New Delhi, despite some expressions of friendship with Israel, was determined to reassure the “Palestinians” of India’s support for a “Palestinian” state. Christophe Jaffrelot notes in The Wire: “In fact, after his 2017 visit to Israel, Modi invited Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to New Delhi, and during that visit, he reiterated his support for a two-state solution and called for “a sovereign, independent, united and viable Palestine, coexisting peacefully with Israel.” In December 2017, just before Netanyahu’s visit to New Delhi in 2018, India also supported a vote by the United Nations General Assembly against the unilateral declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by then-US President Donald Trump. In 2018, continuing to demonstrate his own brand of diplomatic activism (aimed at attracting attention, perhaps), Modi became the first Indian head of government to visit Ramallah. Finally, in 2020, India decided to quadruple its aid to UNRWA and voted in favor of a resolution condemning Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Between 2014 and 2023, by drawing closer to Israel without abandoning the Palestinian cause, India managed to promote its national interest by gaining access to the civil and military technologies mastered by the Israelis.”
What will happen now, after all the demonstrations of friendship by the Israelis, and the claims of friendship — a different thing — by Modi? One hopes he doesn’t, once he returns to India, feel he has to make some kind of statement supporting a “Palestinian” state. Give it up, Mr. Modi. You will not win support from Mahmoud Abbas. Go for broke, and choose Israel unabashedly.
Here’s what you should do:
First, don’t abstain on all those anti-Israel resolutions proposed at the UN. Vote against them, and denounce the UN’s kangaroo court, with the Jewish state perennially in the dock. When the world’s most populous nation votes against the UN’s anti-Israel travesty, the effect will be tremendous.
Second, in 2018, India voted against the American decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to move its embassy there. Now you should demonstrate your steadfast friendship for Israel, and your duty to history and the truth, by joining the United States and a half-dozen other countries, in moving India’s embassy to Jerusalem.
Third, the Indian government should stop issuing statements in support of “two states living side by side in peace and security….yada yada yada.” It can’t be done. If Israel were made to withdraw behind the 1949 armistice lines, it would be deprived of control of the Jordan Valley, essential to its defense, and would have only a nine-mile waist from Qalqilya to the sea. Israel could then be cut in two by an invasion force from the east in a matter of hours, before the reservists could be called up. Stop mentioning, stop supporting, that “two-state solution” nonsense.
Fourth, have the Indian ambassador address the General Assembly, as he casts his “No” at the very next anti-Israel resolution that is put to a vote, that his government wishes to record “its deep unhappiness with the way that the General Assembly abuses its powers in treating Israel as its perennial whipping boy.”
Fifth, call for Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to discharge the UN’s most malignant antisemite, the unbearable Francesca Albanese.
That’s enough for now. Do those five things, Mr. Prime Minister. Think of those 70-80 million Hindus put to death by their Muslim masters. Think of what you saw on February 26 when you visited Yad Vashem. Think of how helpful Israel has been to your country, always unstintingly, in myriad ways, including how it has helped the Indian military and the high-tech sector of your economy. Good karma, Mr. Modi. Very good karma.

All nations are under attack if they support Israel over the arabs. The threat of the Jihadis if a nation evidences support is multifocal, and forces nations to consider the bill for giving support. The only 2 historians who have put numbers on this are Will Durant and KS Lal. KS Lal came out w/ a number of 70 million from 1000 to 1526. Will Durant came out w/ a number of 80 million for the following period from 1526-1799. In other words, their numbers are mutually exclusive, and in the absence of other data points, can simply be added. TL:DR version – 150 million Hindus (plus Jains, Buddhists & Sikhs) were massacred over a 800 year period
As for Modi’s visit, he is a fraud, and hungry for photo-ops. Last few years, since October 7th, even while Indians (excluding muslims) have been solidly supporting Israel, his government diplomatically had been doing everything in support of Israel’s enemies:

Despite this, India declined to do what Israel wanted, even while Delhi itself rants about jihad terror against it in Kashmir

This despite the fact that it’s well known that Hamas intercepts it, and rans racketeering operations around those supplies. Hindu-Jewish relations may be great, but it doesn’t translate into Indo-Israeli relations, given that the pandering tendencies of the BJP are not much less than that of secular regimes that preceded it. At least, those regimes didn’t pretend to be pro-Hindu, but BJP at grassroots level does. Even if their leadership emphasizes nationalism over faith, while doing what it can to erode Hindu faith in India

There has been talk of Israel and India possibly partnering to make a sixth-generation fighter to compete with Boeing’s F-47 (now projected at $300 million each—about 3X the price of an F-35– too steep for Israel’s budget).Israel needs a sixth-generation fighter to offset the advantage given to Turkey and Saudi Arabia by the U.S. selling F-35s to them. Israel can’t develop this herself and needs a partner. From a technical viewpoint, India is the wrong partner. After being enlightened by your comment, India is definitely the wrong partner. South Korea appears to be better, but I personally advocate buying the finished planes from Boeing. The plane will work and the Boeing engineers and not Israeli engineers will have the pleasure of unanticipated problems and cost overruns.

From a people to people standpoint, India might be the right partner, depending on which organizations in India the Israelis chose to partner w/. After all, this is the country that is the most pro-Israel, if one looks not at the government but at the population – might be right up there w/ Iran. If it was a private Israeli company partnering w/ a private Indian company, it would actually be great, given that the people on both sides would be pretty enthusiastic about it. Of course, one would need to assess the technical capabilities of the Indian engineers involved, and given the levels of caste-based DEI quotas in Indian academia, it could be potentially tricky to navigate
But government to government, Jerusalem does need to be as hard nosed about Delhi as they are about European governments, such as Madrid, Dublin, Oslo, et al
