Tucker Carlson Is a ‘Fervent Christian’ but Feels ‘Completely Comfortable in the Seat of Islam’

In Saudi Arabia Wednesday for the Real Estate Future Forum, disgraced former Fox News host Tucker Carlson said, “I’m, for whatever it’s worth, a pretty fervent Christian, and I feel completely comfortable here in the seat of Islam… and just saying that is a threat somehow to some people, who are propagandists and liars.”

Well, who exactly is the propagandist and liar here? It is no surprise that Tucker Carlson feels “completely comfortable here in the seat of Islam.” He is a welcome and lauded guest of the state, and his presence there is useful for the Saudi monarchy. They aren’t going to give him any trouble for being a Christian, and even if they were, Carlson is not there as a missionary or preacher. He didn’t proselytize, and no one expected him to do so. If he had done so, it would have been quite quickly made clear to him that such behavior was not what the Saudis invited him for, and that he should stop it forthwith or would be just as quickly shown the door.

Carlson also appears to be trying to generalize from his own experience, as if every Christian who ever ventured into Saudi Arabia were an internationally renowned VIP who could expect to receive nothing but the most deferential treatment from the Saudi government. The reality, of course, is quite different. Virtually all of the Christians in Saudi Arabia are foreign workers from countries such as the Philippines or India. They know very well that when they come to Saudi Arabia, they are expected to leave their religion at the door. There are no churches. Public worship is forbidden to them. If the Christians gather in someone’s private home and conduct their own worship services, they could end up being the recipients of a police raid. If they speak to any Muslim about Christianity, they could be arrested and imprisoned or deported. Even having a Bible or a cross could get them arrested and imprisoned or deported. Christians in Saudi Arabia don’t have the privilege of being Tucker Carlson and are well aware of how precarious their situation is while they are there.

I once knew a Lebanese Christian who worked in Saudi Arabia. He told me that at the time for Islamic prayers, the religious police would come around and make sure everyone was in the mosque and praying. If you were caught on the streets, you could be arrested, even if you weren’t a Muslim and couldn’t go to Muslim prayers anyway. He learned to make himself inconspicuous in the back rooms of the shop where he worked when it was prayer time.

This is because they[Jews & Christians] are people who do not understand.” Allah in Qur’an 9:29 commands, “Engage in war with those who do not believe in Allah nor in the last day. Nor forbid what Allah and his messenger forbid, nor believe in the religion of the truth among those who have given the book until they pay the jizyah out of hand and they are subdued.”

    • It’s really pathetic what Tucker Carlson is saying now. I lived in Muslim countries for 11 years (Abu Dhabi, Tunisia and Algeria). I had to be very careful as my husband worked there for a French company. I did buy the Qur’an in 1980 to read it. However being in those countries made me very interested in learning about that pseudo-religion, and realising immediately that I was right to appreciate that my parents had brought me up as a Christian. I was always polite and behaving myself with those Muslims, never talking about my religion or theirs as I never wanted us to have any problems. I was very happy to have stayed away automatically from any of them who seemed to be radical.
      I feel that Tucker Carlson is really no longer someone I want to hear talking about anything. I haven’t listened to any of his podcasts for ages. Who knows if he was not given some money in Saudi Arabia ???

  2. I am a Bible believing Christian and a handicapped senior citizen. I was eating at one of my favorite restaurants here in Denver CO, and a group of Muslims came into eat. I was nervous the whole time being afraid of something happening.

    Hey, Tucker, remember that part about a gentleman similar to you, who obtained 30 pieces of silver? Ring a bell? Only, in your case, I think it might be a few million pieces of silver.

    This guy seems to be sliding further and further into the realm of the truly contemptible and treacherous.

      I think TC joined the long list of Americans “compromised by Islamic money”; I fear Trump may be on that list.

      There’s also the long list of Americans likely compromised by CCP money, but Tump is probably not on that list.

      And, the list of Americans compromised by both Islam and the CCP – Tim Walz comes to mind, and so does Joe “Chinese Weather Balloon” Biden.

      Then, there’s the Ukraine list …

      So many lists and lots of names! The compromised and the corrupt.

        King Solomon wrote, “money is for a protection the same as wisdom is for protection.” It’s the love of that beyond the amount needed for ‘protection’ that has brought down so many.

  6. Mixed feelings on this. When I lived in Taiwan and assisted the Reformed Churches’ translation work and supply preaching needs, on the one hand, I felt comfortable in the country, but on the other, uncomfortably that “the city was full of idols” (per Acts 17). Of course, I have in my Sacred Scriptures Paul’s admonitions to be at peace with all men as much as it is up to me (Rom. 12:18) and”Give no occasion of stumbling, either to Jews, Greeks, or the Church of God” (I Corinthians 10:32).

    While I believe that the Chosen People of God are gather about the Messiah Jesus rather than in a strip of Middle Eastern Land, I support Israel as a US ally in the region, and understand that neither extreme European nationalism nor extreme Arab nationalism between 1900-1945 left the Jews with many choices other than forming a state of their own. And, since I believe the Gospel is to be spread by preaching rather than the sword, I cannot condone anti-Semitic manifestations and stereotypes–just as I would not want all “Heathen Chinese” (or other largely unbelieving people groups) swallowed into the sea, either.

    On the oter hand, is Tucker Carlson saying “Islam is also a legitimate way to God”?` If so, I can only say he has betrayed the faith.

    One cannot say Islam honors Jesus when it denies his deity, his atoning death on the cross, and misrepresents the Holy Trinity as God, Jesus, and Mary (we have been taght since Christ’s resurrection to honor God–one in substance and three in persons–as Father, Word/Son, and Holy Spirit. Given that no Islamic state or madab encourages its people to read the Old and New Testaments–in stark contrast to Christians having always used the Old Testament, even during that first generation while the New Testament was being written–I would express my own displeasure with Islam.

    • Kepha–with all respect–Taiwan is not banning the Bible and churches and setting the religious police on Christian worshippers. It is just not a Christian-majority country. Completely different.

      Muslim scholars teach that Muslims should generally be truthful to each other… unless the purpose of lying is to “smooth over differences” or “gain the upper-hand over an enemy.”
      There are several forms of lying to non-believers that are permitted under certain circumstances, the best known being taqiyya (the Shia name). These circumstances are typically those that advance the cause of Islam – in some cases by gaining the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them.

      Let me count the ways.
      Taqiyya – Saying something that isn’t true as it relates to Muslim identity (i.e whether one is a Muslim or what that means). This is a Shiite term: the Sunni counterpart is Muda’rat.

      Kitman – Lying by omission. An example would be when Muslim apologists quote only a fragment of verse 5:32 (that if anyone kills “it shall be as if he had killed all mankind”) while neglecting to mention that the rest of the verse (and the next) mandate murder in undefined cases of “corruption” and “mischief.”

      Tawriya – Intentionally creating a false impression by saying something that is technically true, when knowing that the listener will interpret it in a different way. This practice has a broader application than taqiyya.

      Muruna – ‘Blending in’ by setting aside some practices of Islam or Sharia in order to advance others.

  8. He’s in Saudi Arabia now? When at Fox, he was the #1, if not the only, critic of Riyadh, over 9/11. He once did a special report on the lawsuit b/w 9/11 victims and the Saudi government, b’cos nowhere else in FNC were any of their journalists touching it. That used to be one of his cause célèbres. He even continued it after King Salman and MbS came to power in Riyadh

    During that time, he was completely justified in slamming Riyadh, since King Abdullah was pretty much where Qatar is today. Even though they didn’t bankroll the muslim brotherhood, they did bankroll worldwide dawa activity – something that ended under MbS. So by itself, I wouldn’t have opposed Tucker thawing on Saudi Arabia, were it not for all the other things he’s been doing – supporting the likes of Qatar and Iran as well as being virulently anti Israel

    The other thing about him thawing on Saudi Arabia is that he’s doing that just when Saudi Arabia has been refusing to let the US use its air space, or been allying w/ countries like Turkey and Pakistan. In other words, Tucker is morphing into what Hugh used to call an islamo-Christian

  9. How can any informed and true Christian be OK with the fact that in Saudi Arabia one cannot preach the Christian faith to others or build a church?

    • And I have read, Wellington, that Bibles are not allowed in that country.
      The Apostles would have been arrested and murdered for their preaching had there been a saudi arabia in their day.

      • My understanding, somehistory, is that one Bible can be brought into Saudi Arabia for personal use but it must in no way be displayed in any public way. Imagine if Western nations had done this with the Koran. So, as usual, Muslims get a free pass and Christians don’t.

  12. I don’t know much about Tucker Carlson but he seems to have a complete lack of integrity and has probably been bribed by Muslim money. But I presume that he once had a fairly big following so my question is, does he still have a big audience for his bullshit or is he now an irrelevant wanker with his career now in the toilet where it belongs. Of course, if he is being bribed with lots of money I suppose having a fairly big audience doesn’t matter. Integrity is everything. If he lacks that then he is pathetic and worthless.

    • He did have a large following at Fox (I did not listen, so I know only that he now says about that time that he was naive about the powerful people he knew), but was fired and became an independent. He has had quality guests and I listened because he allowed them to talk, but he has angered me and others by pushing islam. It’s known that he was funded by a Qatar source and recently bought a house there.

I wonder which one of the Churches in Saudi Arabia Tucker attended while he was being hosted by a country named after a family where the men are all wearing long white evening dresses and the women are all wearing black garbage bags as the Kings behead people for various reasons every year while being protected and defended by US Marines, paid for my US taxpayers..
