Things are moving swiftly and dangerously in Iran. Fox reports the death toll at “at least 646” protesters; Reuters reports 2000, and Iran International reports 12,000. CBS News says the death toll could be as high as 20,000.
This is the scene in Iran according to a source inside the country, as the regime clings to power by a thread:
Things here are very, very bad. A lot of our friends have been killed. They were firing live rounds. It’s like a war zone, the streets are full of blood. They’re taking away bodies in trucks… Iran’s security officers have been shooting at gatherings of protesters in several areas. They include Tehran, the western Kermanshah province, and the southern Bushehr region.
Trump has made a promise:
Expect major fireworks, perhaps more consequential than America’s attack on Iran’s nuke sites in June.
Even in its weakened state, Iran warns that it will retaliate if the US attacks, and has also threatened to hit Israel in response to any US strike; the Israel Defence Forces say they’re on alert for any possible “surprise scenarios” as the US mulls military strikes on Iran.
“Trump cancels all meetings with Iran, calls on protesters to ‘take over’ the country,” by Anders Hagstrom, Fox News, January 13, 2026:
President Donald Trump urged the people of Iran to “take over” the country’s institutions on Tuesday, saying he has canceled all meetings with the Iranian regime until its crackdown on unrest ends.
Trump made the announcement on social media, vowing that those responsible for killing anti-regime demonstrators will “pay a big price.” Iran had previously claimed it was in contact with U.S. officials amid the protests.
“Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price.”…

Trump has to hit Iran with an overwhelming air assault very soon to stop the carnage and to capitalize on the momentum of the Iranian protestors. Some countries, including elements within Israel, are urging the U.S. to delay things. But, that would possibly doom the ouster of the Ayatollah and his henchmen. I’m sure that the U.S. knows where the Ayatollah is. A well placed bomb will vaporize him and speed his ascent to Allah. A few more bombs will decimate the IRGC and guarantee the return of the Shah.
This Ayatollah has been a thorn in the side of the U.S. the standard treatment is to remove the thorn.

One thing I’m wondering: if there is an internet blackout in Iran, how are the regime figures communicating w/ each other? How does the IRGC leadership in Tehran tell their colleagues in Qom, or Mashhad, or Abadan or anywhere else what to do next?
I do think that the US should destroy Iranian TV headquarters in Tehran: the Israelis partly blew it up last summer, but the US should completely demolish it, and destroy all their comms infrastructure in Tehran. That would put them in even more of a disadvantage. Then focus on taking out IRGC units in those areas where most of the massacres have been happening
