Trump Administration Official: ‘Hamas Wants Peace’

“They want what everybody else in this world wants — just a good life.”

The failed ‘ceasefire’ (in which the fire never actually ceased) was premised on Hamas disarming. As anyone with any common sense warned, Hamas would not disarm. And no one would force it to disarm. That hasn’t stopped Steven Witkoff from pushing on with imaginary plans based on fantasies about how Hamas really wants peace despite decades of evidence otherwise.

Unmoved by those concerns, US special envoy Steve Witkoff announced on Wednesday the “launch of phase two,” where the goal will be “moving from ceasefire to demilitarization, technocratic governance and reconstruction.

“We’ve talked to a number of Hamas people, and we’re hearing throughout the Arab world that people don’t want to be at war anymore. They want peace. They want a better economic future for their families. They want credible homes,” said a second US official on the briefing. “They want what everybody else in this world wants — just a good life, and a good life doesn’t occur through military means.”

So we’ve learned nothing from 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Arab Spring, Oct 7 and every previous time we’ve tried to do this. In fact we’re doing the same damn things all over again in Syria and Gaza, convincing ourselves that Islamic terrorists don’t really want to follow the teachings of their religion and the cause they’ve dedicated their lives to, but just want “what everybody else in this world wants — just a good life.”

It’s incredible. We could be listening to the Bush administration going through this same song and dance all over again.

But this seems par for the course with putting a Qatari-adjacent real estate guy in charge of a series of failed ‘peace’ in name only initiatives who is either a useful idiot for the terrorists… or just an idiot.

“Hamas has always indicated that they would disarm. They’ve said so — they said it to us directly during that famous meeting that Jared had with them,” Witkoff recalled, speaking to the America Business Forum conference in Miami.

“I hope that they keep their word because if they do, they’ll understand that the development plan that we have for Gaza is really terrific — a lot better than anyone has ever discussed before,” he continued, adding that it will include a “tremendous jobs program.”

Hamas has said repeatedly that it’s not disarming except if its terrorists get to front a terrorist state.

But just wait until they learn about Witkoff’s “tremendous jobs program.” Because surely what Hamas really wants is “a good life”.

How many bodies will it take, how many nations destroyed, until we’re done with the Bush’s, the McCain’s, the Witkoffs and their promises that what the Jihadists really want is a good life rather than what they keep telling us they want?

Yes, the men of Hamas all want a “good life.” But how can a True Believer have a “good life” if the despised Jews continue to have a state built on land that was once possessed by Muslims, and therefore must forever be Muslim? There can be no good life, in fact, for Muslims, unless everywhere “Islam dominates and is not to be dominated.”

    • That’s right, Hugh. It goes against their belief system ‘to have a good life.’ Islam’s goal is not life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Do some Gazans want that? Yes, of course, but not enough to make a difference.

      So long as the USA does not have to put up any money and the ‘governing board’ takes full responsibility for what history tells us is a fool’s errand, so be it. Let the Arabs spend their money for a change.

      the Gaza arabs need to do their own rebuilding to understand what their attack and slaughter on Oct 7 has done

      If we, and I mean the “western world” rebuild Gaza-(because the muslims will not do it-they are not as stupid and ignorant as we are)

      the Gaza arabs simply get new and modern apartments built for them and everything else they need or want.

    Ever increasingly I am of the conviction that while Trump is absolutely the best the West has at present, he is still not good enough. More is needed. Yes, more.

    • I no longer think Trump is the best. I think that award now goes to President Milei of Argentina, and the new loaders of Bolivia and Chile may get a chance to join him at the top. At least they are consolidating relations w/ Israel and loosening the anti-Israel coalition at the UN, while Trump is busy playing footsie w/ Hamas

      • I would argue, Infidel, that the “best” must take into account not only the right mindset but also the amount of power at one’s disposal to implement that right mindset. Milei is a good man but the world can’t count on Argentina when it gets into trouble. Thus, I stand by what I said about Trump.

  4. “The good life” muzzies want belongs to the little baby waiting for his bottle, or the young boy eating his pancakes, or the young girl learning to dance.
    The “good life’ hamas wants belongs to the young woman attending a concert in the park, or walking home from her job at the local deli, or the young teacher instructing his students on the subject of history.

    Evil is the telling of lies which support the ghouls who murder and dismember innocent babies, young people and the elderly, in order for the murders to continue and increase until the innocent ones are no more.

    “They want what everybody else in this world wants — just a good life, and a good life doesn’t occur through military means.”

    Maybe he is “projecting” – perhaps as a defense mechanism.

    He mistakenly believes that everyone – regardless of their belief systems – wants the same things in life.

    And therein lies the problem…

  8. The way of peace, Hamas will never know. Stop dreaming. Wake up to the truth. Not everyone wants peace and prosperity. Look at the millions of people called democrats in your own country. Some groups are just evil, continually. Hamas is one of them.

  10. Hamas wants “peace” from any interference to rebuild their tunnel system, re-arm the terrorists and fill all the higher echelon positions who were killed by Israel. After they rebuild and are ready to fight, then “peace” is not so necessary.

    • Agree completely. Hamas will just use the time whilst Gaza is rebuilt to rearm. retrain and gain strength so that it can be ready for the next attack on Israel, Whish I am sure will not be too long in coming. I am sure the Israelis know this very well so I am surpised that they are agreeing to this ‘plan’.Someone should tell Witkoff the story of the frog and the scorpion.

  12. The USA took on the mantle of policeman for the entire world.
    I guess the British used to perform that role in the days of the Empire .

    It is thankless, self appointed job – and unpaid unless riches can be tapped from countries controlled or taken over. Is that a fair trade ?

    So are Americans thinking that their country just drop their peace keeping role and just care for their own people ?

    But then of course there was 9/11 and Islam came after you on home ground.
    And the West thought it could take Democracy to Afghanistan.

    I mean, after all, Muslims just want a good life …….

    • Eddie, you are right my friend .After WWII and very quickly we found ourselves enemies of our former allies. When the Soviet Union crashed down we should have started out on a different path. The USA has all the resources that we would need without any assistance from outside countries. We Americans want to be happy, make money, help out others (others who have the means and desire to help themselves). In WWII after we (you and us) rolled through reclaiming other peoples country and culture we always let those countries to do want they wanted to. I and many Americans never voted to be the world police and I believe every true American harbors an isolationist part within their identity.

      Trying to rule the world is a fools errand because the world cannot be ruled. We do have people we care about in the USA and that is a result of migration over centuries.

        The USA is unique place where migrants from all over the globe have settled and lived together and it seems,in freedom, have created at great Nation. Ruled by the people for the people.

        But even she has to protect her borders and set rules to prevent abuse by rogue religions.

        To expect the USA to police the world is unfair especially at the risk of the lives of her own people.

        The problem now is that President Trump has sabre rattled against Hamas, against the Nigerian muslims and now against the Islamic regime slaughtering native people in Iran.

        This is the moment that the Western super power either takes on Islam or withdraws.

        The sabre rattling must stop.
        The other side is not impressed or frightened,and with Arab money backing it’s evil ideology it is not suddenly going to play by rules which are set by democratic civilised countries.

        As an ousider, with no right to express an opinion, it does however seem to me to be time for a big rethink by the American people about it’s role in the world.

        Do you really owe anything to anyone else ?

      I’m fine w/ the US not being the world’s policeman: in fact, I think we should limit ourselves to the Americas and the Asia-Pacific, since no one else can offset China. But that also necessitates our leader not shooting from the hip, and threatening Iran w/ major consequences, or putting pressure on Israel to not destroy Hamas completely. One can’t have it both ways

      I thnk that the US should have countries that they trust handle things in their region. Like have Israel handle the Middle East (although they may need military support against Turkey), India handle South and South East Asia, Australia the South Pacific, and NATO handle Europe. Africa should be on the backburner, given everything else that threatens us

  13. President Trump himself and the entire administration do not understand Islam. They do not have a clue and Witkoff is totally out of his league, For them to be saying Hamas wants ‘peace’ – what a joke!!!

    And if Trump does not make a move on Iran he is done done!!! Politically and his character will take a huge downward hit. So very disappointed. It is so easy for them to get expertise on Islam; why is this not being done??

    I am not holding my breath. Very sad just do not know what to think again.

    If Hamas was interested in the West’s version of “a good life” they would have use all the billions of dollars they were given on building such a place.

    Hamas’ version of “a good life” is a life spent in fighting for Sunni Islam. Hamas’ particular Jihad Assignment is fighting Israel.

    The Strategy(goal) of Hamas has not changed. It is the same Strategy Islam has had for the last 1400 years.
    Sunni Hamas = The Sunni Muslim Brotherhood = Sunni Islam = The Sunni Caliphate.

    Now that Israel and the U S have contributed to the possible defeat of Shia Iran do you really imagine Sunni Hamas is going to stop fighting a war that they see themselves, as Sunnis, as winning?
    They are on the verge of witnessing the defeat of Shia Iran!
    Hamas does not recognize that the Saudis, et. al, may expect them to play along with the Kabuki Theater of The Abraham Accords.

    Sunni Islam will collaborate with Western countries, via The Abraham Accords, to defeat Shia Islam.

    Then Sunni Islam, as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Syria, Egypt and Jordan, in victory, can turn its eyes towards Israel. Like Hitler turned on the Stalin.

    I only hope that there are Israelis that recognize the Strategy of Sunni Islam and don’t take the Abraham Accords too seriously.

    Islam’s Strategy is never peace – it is the Sunni Caliphate by any Tactics necessary.

  18. President Trump needs to ignore the voices around him that are pro Iranian Islamic theocrazists, and start listening to the brave Iranians who are being murdered for wanting Liberty. Whatever investment the crazies may dangle in front you, the ultimate return they want is the total and complete submission of your people. Don’t be misled, Mr. President, Sir. FREE THE IRANIAN PEOPLE. NOW!! And I thank you, Sir, for your attention to this important matter.

  20. Our envoy is nuts! I don’t believe 100% of Muslims are jihadists – BUT a large enough number of them are – and are behaving as such – AND should NOT be believed – RATHER they should be eliminated. – at least from western civilization.

    • If witkoff was handed a bowl of jelly beans, ten of every color and told that *all of the black ones were poisoned*, and at least one of each of the other colors also were poisoned, he’d still think he could safely eat some.
