The Palestinian Authority has bamboozled much of the West into believing that it is a “partner for peace,” that it wants only to live “side by side” with Israel, and what’s more, is a friend to the United States and the democratic nations. None of that is true. The PA wants to see Israel destroyed just as much as Hamas does, but it differs from Hamas in both tactics and timing. Hamas wants to destroy Israel through violence — terrorism — and do so as quickly as possible. The PA wants to use diplomatic means to reduce Israel to an ever smaller and vulnerable size, squeezed back into its pre-1967 lines, that is to say the 1949 armistice lines, which would leave Israel stripped of its control of the Jordan Valley, so vital to its defenses, and give it a nine-mile-wide waist from Qalqilya to the sea. With those borders, an invader from the east could slice Israel in two within hours. No wonder Abba Eban described those armistice lines as “the lines of Auschwitz.” And then, with Israel much reduced in size, the PA would use its “state of Palestine” to launch attacks, along with other Arab states, on wha would then be a hopelessly vulnerable Israel.
As for the Palestinian Authority becoming part of the democratic West, this too is an impossibility. The PA is a despotism that supports other despotisms. In particular, it is deeply committed to Communist China. More on the PA-China connection can be found here: “Palestinian Authority supports China’s plan to seize Taiwan,” by Itamar Marcus and Ahron Shapiro, Palestinian Media Watch,
Just one day after China defied and alarmed the US and the West by surrounding Taiwan with a military air and sea blockade simulation, including threats that “reunification” of Taiwan and China is “inevitable,” the Palestinian Authority again showed its allegiance to the anti-US axis by declaring its support for the “One China policy:”
“The State of Palestine re-emphasized its full commitment to the One China policy… to maintain its [China’s] territorial unity and also emphasized its opposition to [America/Western] interference in China’s internal affairs.”
[WAFA, official PA news agency, Dec. 31, 2025]
China’s drills simulated a blockade of key ports and airspace control, involving army, navy, air force, and rocket units with live-fire as a rehearsal for isolating Taiwan in a conflict scenario.
Taiwan’s independence is not just a minor American interest but is critical for the West. Taiwan’s semiconductor industry is vital to Western economic and technological security. Taiwan produces over 60% of the world’s semiconductors and more than 90% of the most advanced chips, and manufactures the vast majority of leading edge logic chips that power today’s AI data centers.
The West’s ability to survive and advance technologically is dependent on Taiwan remaining free. China, on the other hand, pledges to seize the free and democratic island and subjugate its people under its dictatorial Communist rule. This would enable China to appropriate its technology and achieve the global economic and military supremacy it seeks….
The PA’s backing of China’s goals for Taiwan as part of the global anti-American axis should convince the US and Western countries that the PA is not an ally, and that were a Palestinian state to be created, it would be aligned with the adversaries of the West. Incredibly, even while the US and the West’s billions of dollars in funding have kept the PA viable, the PA, as a consistent policy, has turned its back on its supporters to embrace China’s goal of seizing Taiwan.
The PA should be judged by the company it keeps. And that company includes Russia — Abbas in Moscow told Putin that he”stands with Russia.” And in another meeting, he said that “Russia is one of the greatest friends of the Palestinian people.” Abbas is also well-disposed to North Korea, sending its dictator Kim Jon Un his congratulations on the country’s “Liberation Day.” He said that the people of Kim Jong Un’s country had made “the greatest sacrifices for their freedom and dignity.” He also expressed appreciation for North Korea’s support for the Palestinians’ “struggle for their rights.”
But as we can see from what is posted just above, it is Communist China with which the Palestinian Authority has the closest ties, making sure on every occasion to call for the defeat of Taiwan and its incorporation into China. As the PA’s chief diplomat, Abbas Zaki, said, “we consider Taiwan an integral part of the united Chinese lands.”
Such statements, that only encourage Chinese aggression against Taiwan, should have attracted the attention of our State Department, that could have threatened to cut off all aid to the PA unless it retracted its remarks on Taiwan, but did not. The PA knows that even if the Americans had made such a threat, they would never have carried it out. The PA will stay linked — hands across the table, while the lights are low — to their great and good and most menacing friend, Communist China.

Ah yes… the Red-Green Alliance in one single snapshot. Don’t forget: Abbas write his Shoah-minimizing thesis in Moscow, USSR.

Why is this remotely surprising? The PLO was (and is) as much a Marxist organization back during the Arafat era as much as it is an islamic one. In fact, it’s the Matxist part of the organization that tries to attract Arab Christians, or “islamochristians” as Hugh used to call them, into the anti-Israel movement

In microcosm, this is why I can’t help but conclude that the vast majority of the time mankind is a collective idiot. Let’s just take the PA and China here. The former is beholden to a belief system in Islam which is inimical to liberty and other good things like equality under the law. And the latter is beholden to a narrow nationalism which is inimical to liberty and other good things, et al.
The only real hope for mankind is Western Civilization at its finest (and this would include comprehending that freedom must be accompanied by common sense and a dedication to responsibility for one’s behavior, something that has been lost in the West in the modern era). Ideally, said civilization should be emulated everywhere.
Even very sophisticated civilizations like those of ancient Egypt and India did not advance the greatest cause of all, i.e., liberty (and freedom, above all other factors, made America the greatest polity in the history of mankind). Only the West explored the parameters of liberty as no other civilization or society ever has.
Yes, only the West. And it is not a coincidence, a la Lord Clark, that the only civilization which has never ceased to develop is the West. Even other significant civilizations rested on their laurels while the West never has.
And presently the West is led for the most part by a collection of moral idiots (examples in our era being the last two Popes, Blair, Merkel, Obama, Biden, Trudeau, Carney, Starmer, Albanese and Marcon, as well as the collective idiocy which is the EU).
Well, no wonder massive deficiencies like the PA and China remain as viable as they are. Yes a combination of the West going weak and stupid while the base element of mankind remains as insufferably unable to grasp the importance of freedom as it ever has does not add up to a rosy scenario, now does it? Time for a porter.

Can I add G.W. Bush to the list?

Absolutely.

China is China and has always been for China first. Right or wrong and throughout the centuries that has been true. The look on the face of Xi while shaking hands with Abbas screams…I cant believe I have to shake hands with this cretin. China has always been very discriminatory (and intolerant) even within themselves.

China has disregarded contracts and such with any nation they deal with and why nations even deal with these double crossers knowing they do that.
FYI/ China owns Smithfield Company and just purchased Nathans Hot Dogs for $450 million, boycott. Yes, both are American companies.
