The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reliably oversaw the al-Hol camp for years. The Syrian military under jihadist president Ahmed al-Sharaa cannot be trusted.
The SDF also has for years urged the U.S.-led coalition to take responsibility for the facility’s security, which would have been to the region’s (and world’s) benefit. Incidents at Al Hol include Islamic State brides unleashing a “reign of terror,” slaughtering babies and dousing people with petrol; the murder of a Doctors Without Borders worker; a report that ISIS brides “live strictly according to IS ideology”; and testimony from Kurds that the camp is a “ticking time bomb” for Europe.
Given Trump’s support of al-Sharaa and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the US has not only rebuffed the advice of the SDF, but has encouraged SDF members to integrate into the corrupted, pro-jihad Syrian army under al-Sharaa, a plan that has been reported to be advancing after a Trump phone call to al-Sharaa.
From Forbes: President Trump Bet Big On Syria’s Sharaa. But Where’s The Hedge?:
The framing that describes the SDF as “America’s hedge against Damascus” misses a deeper function. The Kurdish-led northeast was not merely Washington’s insurance policy—it was a structural anchor for Syria’s minorities.
There’s no longer a structural anchor for Syrian minorities. They will be further persecuted under the al-Sharaa regime. Al-Sharaa’s disturbing background includes an alliance with the Islamic State (ISIS) and its slain caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, before al-Sharaa betrayed al-Baghdadi and pledged continued allegiance to al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri. Read more HERE.
So now, as the US supports the Syrian government taking over control of al-Hol camp, and the U.S. encourages the SDF to integrate into the new Syrian national army under Ahmed al-Sharaa, the world awaits a bad ending. It is illogical to think that the SDF can “integrate” into the Syrian national army.
News of Trump’s betrayal of the Kurds is already circulating, and Turkey, which opposes Israel and the Kurds, is hovering in the wings. In 2018, Turkey held “special ‘conquest’ prayers” in all of the country’s 90,000 mosques “for the victory of the country’s military, which launched a cross border operation in Syria’s northwestern African region…against the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units.” Erdogan then dispatched soldiers to “decimate” the Kurds.
Erdogan has also called for an army of Islam to wage war against Israel, and pronounced that “Europe will be Muslim“; all the while, Turkey has advocated repeatedly for a Western crackdown on so-called anti-Islam attacks, specifically from the “far right.” There is much more about Turkey here: Thousands of Turkish citizens join the Islamic State, Turkey is now a primary ISIS recruiting ground. Combine the latter with the implications of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces withdrawing from al-Hol camp. It is a disaster in the making, not only for minority groups in Syria, but also for the West, given that Al-Hol camp will no longer be contained. Already over 120 ISIS jihadis have escaped from it.
“Syrian army takes control of Al-Hol camp housing IS group families,” France 24, January 21, 2026:
Syria’s army on Wednesday entered the country’s vast Al-Hol detention camp that houses relatives of suspected Islamic State (IS) group members, from which Kurdish forces withdrew the day before, according to an AFP journalist at the scene.
The correspondent saw a large number of soldiers open the camp’s metal gate and enter, while others guarded the entrance.
Al-Hol, located in a desert region of Hasakeh province, holds around 24,000 people, including 15,000 Syrians and about 6,300 foreign women and children of 42 nationalities.
Kurdish forces announced on Tuesday that they had been “compelled to withdraw” from the camp to defend cities in Syria’s north threatened by the army, before a ceasefire was announced.
The camp is the largest for suspected jihadists established by Kurdish forces, who spearheaded the fight against the IS group with help from an international coalition over the past decade before the group was defeated in Syria in 2019.
The Syrian defence ministry said Tuesday it was ready to take responsibility for Al-Hol camp “and all IS (group) prisoners”…

24 thousand released by the Syrian neck chopper leader, wow ? Many will end up in Europe and The USA. It really looks like trump switched to back Islam. Why? Don’t know. Bought out, bribed, sold his soul, early dementia, just don’t know why but seems he is carefully showing a new trump so not all note the change so fast or keep making excuses for him. The packaging of evil wrapped in good is devious.
The test is Iran. If the regime is removed is part A of the test. If the Shah is put in charge is part B of the test. Trump must pass both parts to at least not be considered evil.
A side note on those talking about Ez 38 if it is soon and not Zech 12 or another, I’m aware that a free good Iran can’t be in Ez 38, but the bible prophesy is based on the Persian empire and not just today’s Iran itself. The land mass of the Persian empire without Iran just still might fulfill. I do not know but just looking out if the box.

Part A of your test is the only one relevant to US, and any foreign entities: our role is to destroy the capability of the islamic regime to persecute its people. Part B of your test is not Trump’s, nor anyone else’s part at all. Once the regime falls, Reza Pahlavi will head a transitional government, which will manage things while Iranian political activity starts to build, and while Iranians get to vote on a new constitution. That is where they’ll decide whether they want a monarchy, or a republic. Pahlavi has already said that if it’s a monarchy, people will get to vote for a prime minister and an assembly, like in European countries that have kings or queens. If it is a republic, people will get to vote for a president.
Nobody other than Pahlavi seems prepared to manage a transition setup, and he’s already said that any parties who want to be in it are welcome, except of course for those guilty of major crimes up till the very end

Those 24,000 prisoners – the 15,000 Syrian ones would obviously be under the custody of the HTF regime, and the latter should be closely monitored for what they choose to do w/ them. If they release them, red flags should go up in DC
The other 9000, including the 6300 – the Syrians should be told that those people who are wanted back by their countries should be extradited, while those not wanted by their countries should remain in Syria, and the HTF regime can decide what to do w/ them – from executing them to letting Turkey take them. Since Ankara has a policy of granting citizenship to any muslim (except of course those from “Palestine”)

Regarding the situation in Syria:
The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) emerged during the Syrian civil war as a multi-ethnic system of governance, representing Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Armenians, Yazidis, and others. It was cross-ethnic cooperation in practice.
Turkey has pursued a campaign of incremental offensives, not big enough too attract too much attention or provoke international pushback. Turkish proxy violence was conducted through jihadist and paramilitary structures. These were the same groups that also sent mercenaries to Artsakh.
AANES is now destroyed. Kurdish autonomy could embolden Turkey’s own Kurdish population. For Damascus it challenged centralized control. So it had to be destroyed. Damascus labeled Kurdish forces of AANES as “legitimate targets”.
So now European and American policymakers seem to have accepted violence as the price of consolidating a Syrian state.
Information from “Aleppo and the Collapse of a Shared Future” by Dr. Karena Avedissian.
So now we have Trump and European leaders schmoozing with the new head chopper in charge. And violence and massacres.
It just torques my jaws that people can’t see through Erdogan the snake, and his proxies.

Thanks for all these details, GE. It’s ridiculous how the president has totally glossed over how both Turkey and Qatar rejected his 2017 calls to expunge hate ideology

Given the fact that Trump didn’t want to protect the Kurds in Kobani, I really don’t understand who he thinks should liberate Iran?
Obviously not the Kurds?
Is there anyone else?
Anyone?
Edi Rama?
Will Edi Rama even be willing to cooperate with someone who so easily discarded the Kurds?

Obviously Iranians will liberate Iran, but the question is whether either the USAF or the Israeli AF would bomb the IRGC weapons depots and bases, and make it impossible for them to massacre the protesters?

Al Hol wasn’t being that efficiently looked after. They had a 14 year old Emir going around handing out punishments to women. He was from isis .

Al Hol hasn’t been run that efficiently because there is a 14 year old ‘Emir’ from isis that patrols the camp and doles out punishments to women. I read this in an article 2 or 3 years ago.

Islamic tribes fight among themselves for control in Syria. None of them are our Friends or even cynical Allies at this point. They will all use the same Tactics to attain
their Strategy. Establishing an Islamic State.
While a cynical, temporary alliance, could be useful to the U.S. at some point, for some reason, that point, in Syria, is not now.
Is one Islamic Tribe better for the U.S. than another? No.
One wears desert garb while killing Infidels while the other wears a suit.
The outcome is exactly the same.
Their offer to us Infidels is the same: Convert, pay extortion or choose death.
Since petrocurrencies are so plentiful extortion isn’t as needed as it once was.
This is the “mercy” of Allah the Quran so often refers to.
“Allah made you a perfectly reasonable offer. He offered you Islam. You refused.
You are the one who chose death.”
This is what passes for logic in the Islamic World.

I remember reading an article 2 years ago that a 14 year old male ‘Emir’ was put in charge of the camp to dole out punishments to any misbehaving women.
