It is great (and rare) news that two Christian nurses in Pakistan survived their ordeal after being accused of blasphemy. Their lives were spared only because the National Commission for Justice and Peace (NCJP), a Catholic body backed by Aid to the Church in Need, provided their legal defense. NCJP is a prominent international Catholic organization which the Catholic Church recognizes as a Pontifical Foundation. The case also drew international attention and brought widespread pressure upon Pakistan.
The case highlights the barbarity of Pakistani culture and accepted Sharia doctrines, which automatically relegate Christians to an inferior status. Christians are at the mercy of Muslims in Pakistan, as Muslims can and do lie against Christians with trumped-up accusations of blasphemy in pursuit of personal gain or revenge for a perceived slight. The accuser knows very well that the penalty for blasphemy is death, either by execution or at the hands of a savage mob, so such accusations are murderous. These nurses suffered for four years until the conclusion of this absurd case, which will result in no consequences for the Muslim doctor.
In 2019, I met a blind Pakistani Christian professor at the Budapest International Conference on Christian Persecution; he had been lynched simply for being Christian and blinded after his fellow professors beat him severely.
The Trump administration co-sponsored the conference with the Hungarian government, while both Trump and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán are routinely tarred as “far right” “racists.”

Two Christian nurses have been acquitted of blasphemy in Pakistan, ending a case that began more than four years ago and forced them into hiding under threat of mob violence. A district court ruled that the prosecution failed to substantiate the charge.
Mariam Lal and Newosh Arooj, who were charged under Section 295-B of Pakistan’s Penal Code, which mandates life imprisonment for damaging Qur’anic text, were acquitted in November 2025, and the deadline for authorities to appeal the ruling passed this week, according to Aid to the Church in Need.
The charges followed accusations by a senior doctor in April 2021 that the nurses, who worked in Civil Hospital in Punjab Province’s Faisalabad city, had defiled a sticker with an Islamic inscription pasted on a hospital cupboard.
As word spread, the nurses narrowly escaped an attempted lynching by an angry crowd and were detained by authorities. Both women remained in custody for five months before being allowed to await trial outside of jail for safety reasons.
The court later permitted them to avoid public appearances, citing credible threats to their lives. Throughout the proceedings, the nurses were unable to work and required security measures due to ongoing intimidation.

Local advocates called the ruling a rare instance of a lower court acquitting defendants in a blasphemy case, which are typically deferred to higher courts due to social pressure….

As far back as the 1980s, a Pakistani Air Force officer converted to Christianity and went on trial for apostasy. The penalty – if convicted – was death. Due to international pressure, the local judge was presumably instructed by President Zia to acquit. The Air Force Officer was then shot and killed by an Islamist right outside the courthouse after the acquittal. Zia was able to demonstrate both Pakistan’s fealty to Sharia Law AND the moderation of its legal system in one fell swoop.
God forbid, but don’t be the least bit surprised if these two unfortunate ladies end up with a similarly tragic ending.

The evidence is plain to see, yet people in the west are either too blind or are too desperate to believe muslims when they claim islam is peaceful and tolerant.

I’m guessing that the ‘doctor’ wanted some personal attention which he was demanding from the two ladies and they both said ‘No.’
If they can leave and take their family members, they should beat if out of there before the mob can murder them.
