Mohammad was convicted of first-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years of supervision….
In 2008, Mohammad stabbed his sister several times during an argument where he called her a “bad Muslim girl.” He said she disgraced his family by dressing immodestly and frequenting nightclubs.
He lawfully entered the United States on May 24, 2004. However, his attempted murder conviction violated the terms of his legal status, ICE said….
In April 2009, ICE entered Mohammad into removal proceedings. In 2012, an immigration judge ordered that he be deported….

He was ordered to be deported **years** ago…14 years ago. Why was he allowed to stay and try to murder his sister?
since he was convicted of attempted murder, why is he still around?

It’s not just the judges, activist lawyers get paid to come up with reasons for appeals to get in front of the judges. Same reason the death sentence takes 30 years or longer. lawyers making money off the tax payers on behalf of criminals. Something is happening on these deportation cases.

Actually, even legal immigration numbers have gone down, which is so much better. Companies are no longer hiring H1Bs, thanks to the 100k fee that USCIS is now requiring. I don’t know about China, but Indians are no longer looking for opportunities in the US: they’re looking elsewhere. Ideally, they need to become a lot less bureaucratic than they currently are, and they need to end caste-based affirmative action: right now, it’s on steroids. Once they do that, their people won’t have to go anywhere
Also, as somehistory points out, 75 countries have now been banned from coming, especially those who would be deemed dependents of the state. In theory, that used to be the requirement earlier too, except that it was never monitored, let alone enforced. I’m glad that Pakistan and Bangladesh are finally covered by this. India was not on the list, since that’s still a desired market for US companies
