Zohran Mamdani’s first order of business as mayor of New York was to rescind the executive order of his predecessor, Eric Adams, that had adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism, which included extreme forms of anti-Israel rhetoric. Newly inaugurated New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani rescinded a series of executive orders on his first day in office on Thursday, including one that deemed anti-Zionist rhetoric as antisemitic.
His predecessor, Eric Adams, signed the order adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism, which includes clauses in its definition such as “Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor,” and “Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.”
Other clauses include “Accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust,” “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis,” or “Holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel.”
According to the mayor’s office, Mamdani rescinded all executive orders signed by Adams since September 26, 2024, when the previous mayor was indicted.
Mamdani, then a state assemblyman nominated as the Democratic Party candidate, pledged in a September interview with Bloomberg News that he would rescind the acceptance of the IHRA definition of antisemitism if elected….
In the election, Mamdani repeatedly demonstrated that he was anti-Israel to his very core, accusing the Jewish state of “genocide” and refusing to condemn the slogan “globalize the Intifada.” He also refused to recognize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state. Now that he is mayor, his anti-Israel animus, and his antisemitism, have both been on vivid display. Virtually his first act as mayor was to reverse Eric Adams’ adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism. At least one-fifth of Mamdani’s administrative appointees have ties to anti-Israel groups; some have also praised Hamas. You can criticize him all you want, and god knows he deserves it, but you must also say this about Zohran Mamdani: He’s a Muslim man of his word.

It’s one thing for a new leader to rescind EOs by a predecessor from the other party, like Trump did of Biden or Biden did of Trump. It’s stranger to see a new leader reverse decisions from a predecessor from the same party
He isn’t the least bit subtle about his antisemitism, whether it’s this order, or one that protects Jews from antisemitic attacks. I do hope his orders get to be overruled at state level, although not sure whether Hochul has completely embraced his antisemitic agenda

The average Mamdani voter has lived in NYC less the 10 years. The republicans did not even have a primary ,that would have brought more real issues to light .It would have more people questioning how he plan to turn NYC into a” communist utopia “.It might have driven more people to the polls to vote instead of general apathy for a guy who step down in disgrace as governor ,a crook of a mayor who never could accomplish one thing in his 4 years in office and a community organizer who always runs and never wins. How badly are the people of NYC be crying when all of the Jews, Gays and women who voted for this clown realize they voted for Sharea Law.
