If this report is true, it’s a world-historical betrayal that will doom Trump’s presidency and the future of the United States. Protesters: help is not on its way after all. You gave your lives for an empty promise.
“Trump informed Iran he does not intend to attack, asked Tehran to exercise restraint: envoy,” by Kalbe Ali, Dawn, January 15, 2026:
ISLAMABAD: Iran’s envoy to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, revealed on Thursday that US President Donald Trump informed Tehran that he will not attack the country and asked that Iran also exercise restraint.
Moghadam made the remarks during a visit to the National Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Authority, where he met the authority’s chairman, Khurshid Ahmad Nadeem.
Protests have taken place across Iran in a movement sparked by anger over the rising cost of living, leading to authorities imposing internet restrictions. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened to intervene in support of protesters.
On Wednesday, Trump said that he had been informed the killings of protesters in Iran had been halted, and added that he would “watch and see” about threatened military action.
The Iranian envoy also disclosed that he received information at around 1am, which indicated that Trump did not want war and had asked Iran not to attack the US interests in the region.
Speaking of the protests, the envoy maintained that the people had a legitimate right to protest and that the government had engaged in talks with the demonstrators.
However, he said that the coverage of the US and Western media incited violence, further escalating the situation.
Referring to the statements issued by Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on January 7, he said that they amounted to interference in Iran’s internal affairs, further stoking the tensions.
The envoy described the events as the worst in Iran’s history.
He alleged that armed groups carried out killings, attacked mosques, imambargahs, and committed acts of arson.
The envoy went on to claim that the situation was now “fully under control”, adding that there were no protests in Iran at the moment, despite threats from Israel and the US….

If that is true, neither the Iranians, nor any other people, should ever count on the US again. As for the Iranians, I know it’s easy to say from outside Iran, but keep fighting. It’s not like there’s otherwise anything to live for: their currency is at $0.0000 and they have all the issues like water shortages, unemployment and so on, so keep fighting to the end
I know that Trump doesn’t like intervening anywhere militarily, but in that case, he should have just STFU on Iran and let Israel take the lead on this, and do whatever was necessary. Instead, he’s just been proving his detractors on the Left correct – that he’s a sanctimonious attention-seeker, full of himself and too easy to bribe
The other main story I’ve been seeing on Iran International is that 4 Arab countries – Qatar, Oman, Egypt and Saudi Arabia – persuaded Trump not to attack Iran. It just exposes them – they’d prefer a shi’a theocracy in Iran that would threaten them to a murtad democracy that wouldn’t, but is however willing to normalize relations w/ Iran. On the MAGA side, everybody who opposed intervening in Iran – I wonder how it feels that your dear leader is more interested in listening to Arab muslims rather than the apostatizing populace of Iran?
One more thing – please spare us the “Trump-is-a-genius-who-is-playing-4D-chess”. He’s just full of himself – nothing more, nothing less

Agreed. Trump jumps back and forth on everything.
On the other hand, if the Iranian revolt surges foeward, and the regime falls, the Islamofascists will not have the USA as a scapegoat. The cat is also out of the bag that Weatern Leftists aren’t the only ones who may take to the street when they feel the social contract has been violated.
As for “dear leader” and us, who voted for him.
While I’m well aware the USA has some serious international reponsibilities, I’ve long held that US foreign policy should be more careful about choosing its fights.

Also, if the regime falls, Trump will take credit for it, despite having done nothing to save any of the 20,000-30,000 people who were massacred by the IRGC

Now is the time while Iran is at its weakest. All are praying that this is another misdirection while Trump weighs his options.
Iran is an existential threat to the world and is hated by its people who have been tortured continually.

A muzzie telling other muzzies something…..I wouldn’t believe a word of it unless Mr. Trump or Mr. Vance or some other credible source says it.

Just any reason why Trump is called the “TACO president”.
