A 30-year-old Dalit woman, Ranjitha Bhanasode, was stabbed to death in broad daylight in Yellapur town of Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada district on Saturday, January 3, allegedly by a man known to her.
The accused, identified as Rafique Imamsab, was found dead on Sunday, hanging from a tree in a forested area near Yellapur, police told reporters.
The killing triggered protests by Hindu outfits, which called for a Yellapur bandh on Sunday, terming the killing a fallout of ‘love jihad’.
The accused and the murdered woman were friends since their school days, police said.
As per the preliminary investigation, the accused was pressuring the woman to marry him. He allegedly attacked her with a knife in public after she refused his proposal.
The murder took place on Saturday afternoon when Bhanasode, who worked as a mid-day meal helper at a government school, was returning home from her workplace.
Police said she had married in Solapur, Maharashtra, around 12 years ago and had a 10-year-old son, but later separated from her husband and was living with her family in Yellapur.
According to the complaint filed by her sister, Akshata Bansode, the accused had repeatedly insisted on marriage despite objections from Bhanasode and her family….

Yeah, there has been a lot of debate in India on whether that’s an appropriate term. It was first used by some Kerala Christian priests when their girls were being targeted. There have been other terms offered, such as grooming jihad, but the best I have seen is one from a couple of commentators suggesting the term “muslim trafficking of non-muslim minors” – focusing mainly on pedophilic activities, but also covering the targeting of women in their tweens. Note that this isn’t restricted to muslim men targeting muslim women: there have been cases as well of muslim women targeting non-muslim men, and trying to convert them after getting them hooked on them

From my experience there, Christians in India who just mind their own business when it comes to faith, but interact normally w/ Hindus and others, they get along just fine. There are no attacks on their churches
There are 2 issues that damage the perception of Christians w/ Hindus:
⮞ The attempts to convert Hindus to Christianity. Normally, that wouldn’t be an issue, if it just means adding Mr Christ to the pantheon of Hindu deities that exist, or even cults like Sai Baba or BAPS. However, thanks to your first 2 commandments, which are poison pills of Christian relations w/ anybody, that’s not enough. The new Christian convert has to disown all the previous deities, and in India, even go through rituals desecrating them
⮞ In India, unlike in the West, Christians see themselves as a minority (statistically true) and then ally w/ muslims against Hindus. Historically, that had been the trend: it’s only in recent years that Christians in states like Kerala have seen the muslim threat to themselves, and have somewhat switched. But otherwise, Christians in India – again unlike Christians in the West – see muslims as Abrahamic fellow travellers and have fewer issues w/ them than w/ polytheistic Hindus. Having picked the anti-Hindu side, they can’t now turn around and ask for Hindus to be supportive of them
In fact, a few years ago, there was a case of an Indian-Christian expat worker in the Emirates, who was told that muslims worship Jesus. He was pretty excited by that, and w/o checking about the details of this mythical “Isa” who was nothing like Christ, he converted to islam and flew to Libya to carry out a jihad attack. Normally, he would have been blocked, except that there was nothing in his ID to suggest that he was a muslim: he appeared to be an Indian-Christian from Kerala, so no danger to anyone, right? So he went to Libya and conducted a suicide bombing that failed to take out his target, but blew himself up. So it’s not like Indian-Christians even get a proper education in Christianity: all they learn is how to disdain Hinduism for being polytheistic
I remember the late Rush Limbaugh say on several occasions to vegetarian activists, “You guys are great, until you start telling me that it is morally wrong to keep eating meat“. I’d say the same thing to Christians: “You are fine people, until you tell non-Christians that they are heathens/pagans/whatever for not believing that Christ is the savior and the only road to salvation”. Whether it’s denouncing Jews for not accepting Christ as the messiah (like Candace Owens and Nicholas Maduro do) or denouncing Hindus for worshipping “false gods”

How about when a couple of Christians go to a village to visit another Christian family to see the new baby. Not there to talk to anyone else, just to see and congratulate on having a new baby.
The Christians are then surrounded by a mob; accused of forcing conversions, beaten and locked in their car. The Hindus then call the police and have the Christians taken away.
Another group of Christians were rounded up by the military, put on a small boat and set adrift on the ocean.
These two incidents are some of the more recent things. There may be a lot more.

That is *exactly* what WSH Skin wrote:

But the other way around? That is far stickier. Technically under the Special Marriage Act of 1954 a Hindu man might marry a Muslim woman without converting to Islam, but this is illegal under Islamic law. There are many Honor Killings there of those who have tried. Generally they have to move away from the Muslim’s family and break all ties. Even then it can be dangerous if Muslims in the new area learn that the husband is not Muslim.

My understanding is Muslims have sharia law, separate for themselves, with massive plots of Muslim-only land, a legal caliphate within India. It’s not a conspiracy, it has a name that slips my tounge. Strange things happen on this caliphate land.
