Ilhan Omar’s Sudden Good Fortune Now Being Investigated

Ilhan Omar, the Muslim congresswoman from Minnesota, has seen her net worth increase from a negligible amount to as much as $30 million today. Naturally, eyebrows have been raised, especially since she is a Somali from Minneapolis, where eighty-six Somalis have already been convicted of massive fraud, involving state money that was supposed to be spent on welfare benefits, but instead ended up in the hands of Somali fraudsters, whose fraud is believed to have cost the state a total of $9 billion. Some of that money was sent back to Somalia, to finance the terror group Al Shabaab.

Now Omar’s fellow members in Congress are investigating her, that is, the members of the Oversight Committee that Republican James Comer heads. Once its investigation is completed, the world may discover just how she came into possession of such a fortune. A House Republican investigation into Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar has been launched after newly filed financial disclosures showed her family’s reported wealth exploding to more than $30 million in a single year.

The House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman James Comer, is examining how the ‘Squad’ lawmaker and her husband rapidly amassed millions – at a time that a $9 billion Somali social services fraud scandal also exploded in her state.

Investigators are openly weighing subpoenas as they probe whether politically connected businesses tied to Omar’s family warrant deeper scrutiny, House Republicans said.

The investigation follows federal prosecutors opening a broader investigation into alleged industrial-scale fraud involving billions of dollars in social service funds in Minnesota.

Republicans say that scandal alone makes Omar’s apparent financial windfall impossible to ignore.

Several members of Omar’s inner circle have been convicted of taking part in a $250 million COVID fraud scheme, that was enabled through the MEALS Act that Omar managed to get Congress to pass. Her former campaign staffer, Guhaad Hashi Said, pled guilty to running a fake food site that claimed to serve 5,000 meals a day to children, but stole millions instead.

Omar held her 2018 victory party at the Safari Restaurant, which her friend, Salim Ahmed Said, owns. Said was subsequently convicted of fraud. He spent some of the money he stole on a $2 million mansion and on shopping sprees at high-end stores such as Nordstrom.

Thanks to James Comer and his fellow Republicans on the Oversight Committee, Ilhan Omar’s excellent financial adventure could very well be exposed to the world. There will be subpoenas. She may be forced to testify under oath. So may her husband, Tim Mynett. And she may then be exposed as the most prominent Somali fraudster of them all.

  2. Omar is Islam in operational mode in microcosm, i.e., totally parasitic but despising the non-Muslim world all the while profiting from it. Yeah, it’s essentially jizya and the dhimmis out there should realize that “the best of peoples” (Sura 3:110) like Omar “deserve” what they have acquired because it was obtained from non-Muslims who are “the vilest of creatures” (Sura 98:6).

    But Omar is not representative of the chief problem. No, she is not. The chief problem in our era are all the non-Muslim fools out there (examples being AOC, Bernie Sanders, Bush 43, Merkel, Carney, Blair and the last two Popes) who continue to remain willfully ignorant of Islam. Yes, this is the chief problem because a united coalition against Islam by virtually all non-Muslims would wither Islam on the vine—but we’re nowhere close to that, now are we?

    Hey, where is an Urban II and a Churchill now? Yes, where? I’m increasingly concerned that even Trump doesn’t measure up here and, if he doesn’t, then whom can the West turn to who has the power to rid the West of arguably the single greatest error in Western history, i.e., the exculpation in our time of the worst religion ever devised by man and which is a mortal enemy of Western Civilization?

    Comer and the others need to go after her aggressively. And also, rake her third husband over the coals.

    • I like Comer personally, somehistory, but I’ve become rather tired of his having yet another “hearing” and thereafter things go nowhere, ditto for other Republicans I like such as Jordan.

      If this democratic republic (and yes, America is both a democracy and a republic though still so many miss this by insisting we’re only a republic) is to survive, then we need to go beyond someone like Comer, good man that he is, and wage political war against the Left within all parameters of the law available to us. And which entity, i.e., the Left, has taken over the Democratic Party and why it is impossible to be both an informed American and a patriotic American and still remain a Democrat.

      The modern Democratic Party needs to go the way of the Whig Party and Republicans like Comer and Jordan have to go way beyond yet more “hearings.” I know this is easy to say but many times what is easy to say is nevertheless still rooted in the truth.

      • I agree, Wellington. There are many whose names I recognize who have spoken the Truth. But it seems that it’s all talk and not much action, as the c/w song says.

        I’m no attorney and not even a smidgen of politician, so I don’t know all of the rules.
        However, I do know that warrants can be applied to find out what’s in a bank account, what’s on computers (like pols having secret email accounts and hidden files), phone records and dumpster diving (for which LE doesn’t need warrants).
        I know how to read legal papers and even could write a brief.

        So, those people who have been making up the Laws, writing and amending and expanding the Laws for the rest of us, should be able to get to the Truth, and then take whatever action they are legally allowed. For the rest, give it over to the attorneys at the Federal level….like the one in CA who seems to know his job.

        See the crimes, write the briefs, take it to the Grand Jury, charge, indict, try….and in many cases, like the ones involving the somali ‘daughter, looking out for somali interests so the somalis can *sleep in comfort* find her guilty and send her back to somalia penniless.

        • Reminds me, respecting your last sentence, somethistory, of what a Protestant minister in my hometown of Altoona, PA, and whom I knew and liked (my father, a devout Roman Catholic, often played golf with him and they got along very well with each other), said to me decades ago and that is that when all things are said and done there are far more things said than done.

        • Yes, arguably yet another problem, James. I have my doubts about Bondi though I have to consider that blaming her is deflection by Congress for not doing enough on its own. After all, Comer had loads of hearings from 2023 to 2025 when Republicans were in the majority in the House and when the brain-dead Biden was POTUS and these too also went nowhere

          Frankly, I don’t have to date enough evidence one way or another respecting where blame should lie but here is what I do know: Comer, Jordan, et al. of Republicans have had plenty of hearings and they have produced very little. Very little. Conclude accordingly.
