He’s the first of what will in time, I suspect, become a flood, as the Iranian regime survives through mass murder, and the hatred for it grows and grows. A half-dozen Iranian diplomats defected after the “Green Movement” protest in 2009; this time there will be many more. More about this diplomat, the second-in-command of the Iranian mission to the UN’s headquarters in Geneva, can be found here: “Senior Iranian UN Diplomat in Geneva Defects, Seeks Asylum in Switzerland,” i24News, January 18, 2026:
A senior Iranian diplomat posted to the United Nations’ European headquarters in Geneva has reportedly defected and applied for political asylum in Switzerland, according to diplomatic sources cited on Sunday by the Iranian opposition outlet Iran International.
The diplomat, Alireza Jiranieh Hokambad, served as a minister-counselor, the second-highest-ranking position in Iran’s UN delegation in Geneva.
According to the report, he left his post and submitted an asylum request for himself and his family, citing fears of persecution should he return to Iran.
Sources said Hokambad’s decision was driven by concerns over the ongoing political and social unrest in Iran, as well as doubts about the stability of the Islamic Republic’s governing structure. Swiss authorities have not yet issued an official response to the asylum application….
His defection is both an expression of deep disgust with the Iranian regime, and a vivid vote of no confidence in its survival. The supreme leader may have temporarily used mass murder to suppress the protesters, and many of those who had been protesting on the streets have retreated to their homes, but their hate for the regime does not disappear; they harbor it in their hearts, where it grows and grows.
Defections by Iranian diplomats during periods of domestic unrest are not without precedent. In the aftermath of Iran’s 2009 “Green Movement” protests, a number of senior diplomats posted in countries including Norway, Finland, Italy, and Belgium resigned and sought asylum, publicly condemning the Tehran government’s violent crackdown.

While I support the Iranian protesters, I look at these diplomats as rats deserting a sinking ship. The same conditions that they are suddenly now against have been there in Iran for 47 years: it’s only now that they’re recognizing it? While their brethren are getting shot or hanged from cranes, they’re now hoping to continue living nice cushy lives in the countries they’re posted to after quitting their jobs?
Na-ah, the host countries need to revoke their diplomatic visas and send them back to Tehran. Let them prove their newborn “dissident” credentials by standing w/ protesters in Tehran, or whichever city or district they are from, and face the same risks that their compatriots face. In fact, now the time for Iranian expats to return to Iran is drawing near, not the time for more Iranian refugees to flee their country

“A senior Iranian diplomat posted to the United Nations’ European headquarters in Geneva” this article revealed , He said that he decided to do so because of “the ongoing political and social unrest in Iran, ”
Wow ! Saying ” political and social unrest in Iran, ” sure is a real understatement if there ever was one .
For mass murder of a vast horrendous carnage by that monstrously cruel despicable and vicious tyrant, Khamenei, and the other ayatollahs and the mullahs along with the other fiendish despots who are in power in that tyrannical Islamic regime of Iran, also have much blood guilt of the mass murder of so many innocent Iranians on their sinister hands.
Furthermore,, a woman interviewed by the Epoch Times 1/20/26. A1, didn’t give an isolated report such murderous atrocities committed by the “security forces’ against the Iranians people has been confirmed by many other Iranians and other sources.
The article reads” Nights in Tehran, Iran, are increasingly violent” an Iranian woman told that newspapers reporter, “She said the security forces often move through crowds on motorcycles firing indiscriminately. She said I n the morning she was bodies in public areas and bold on the streets.”
In addition, the article further reports, “the death resulted from coordinated operation carried out primarily by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Basij forces not from spontaneous clashes. Sources indicate that the operation was conducted under the direct orders from Ayatollah Khamenei.”
That wicked death –inflecting Khamenei and the other Islamic despots using their murdering criminals in uniform “security forces’ against the Iranian people who are justly and righteously revolting against that horrendously brutal cruel and deadly tyrannical Islamic regimes of Iran is outrageous and wrong.
Iranian people in the righteous quest for a genuine, legitimate government that respects and safeguard their basic human rights is a good worthy decent just very good cause.
Walter Sieruk says
That Ayatollah Khamenei actually celebrated the mass murder of so many people who were rightly and justly, demanding a genuine government that respect human rights and safeguards the safety and lives of its citizens.
Khamenei when he celebrated those deadly atrocities he exposed that that murderous tyranny that officially had the title of “The Islamic Republic of Iran’ isn’t a genuine government that respect human rights and safeguards the safety and lives of its citizens. It’s an outrageously illegitimate “government.” It’s monstrous demonic death inflecting murder regime.
Second and very important that Khamenei celebrated the mass murder of so many people he exposed his own diabolical malicious and vicious Islamic mindset.
Third, Khamenei will not get away in the end for his celebrating mass homicide, of so many human beings. For it will, in time comes back down on him hard. As the Bible informs its reader “He who is glad at calamity will not go unpunished.” Proverbs 17:5. [N.K.J.V.]

Has it occurred to you guys yet
That the next wave of “asylum seekers” is likely to be from Iran
and that it’s likely to be members of the establishment
(those who support or supported the islamic regime)
who will be on the run rather than the apostates
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Western countries stupid enough to give them asylum deserve what they get. By which, I mean the ruling elites, not the hapless citizens who actually have to live w/ those consequences
Adrian Fegan says
Defect when it suits .. How convenient !
These deviants will be our next wave of “asylum seekers” I suspect
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Yeah, what I pointed out above. Switzerland should reject his request and extradite him to Tehran

Yeah, there’s an Urdu cliche, which goes “The cat, having eaten a hundred mice, now goes on a pilgrimage”
