From the mullahs’s perspective, it looks as if the threat worked. They announced that they would assassinate Trump, and suddenly the attack on Iran was off. The projection of Trump’s weakness, already established in his empty threat, is thus reinforced.

Iran issued a sickening threat against President Trump Wednesday, broadcasting a picture of the commander in chief during the 2024 Butler rally assassination attempt — with the words “This time it will not miss the target.”
The ominous warning was aired on Iranian state-run TV, Agence France Presse (AFP) reported.
It marks Tehran’s most direct threat yet against Trump, following his repeated threats that the US will strike the country if it continues its brutal crackdown on anti-government protesters.
The image of a bloodied-Trump appeared to be taken from a pro-government rally in Iran, which has been allowed to air despite nationwide blackouts over the protests against the regime.
Trump was infamously the target of an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when he was shot in the ear by gunman Thomas Crooks.
Iran has made threats to kill Trump in the past, including a 2022 video posted by the regime depicting an assassination attempt on the president at his Mar-a-Lago golf course prior to the 2024 election.
The video resurfaced following the arrest of would-be assassin Ryan Routh, who was arrested while trying to take aim at Trump on the same golf course….

Likely he was being pressured by advisors who were afraid that iran’s hit squad would be successful next time.
But, has iran withdrawn the threat after he said no attacks? My personal guess: iran has not withdrawn the threats. When he was campaigning, he wasn’t saying that his first task would be to attack iran; yet they were still sending goons to murder him.

Islam has infiltrated all areas of the US, and the Sunnis would rather a Sunni hostile Iran than a new democracy that could threaten Islamic hegemony in the region.

Precisely. That’s the only explanation why 4 Arab countries, who’ve ostensibly hated Iran all these decades, are now asking Trump to not engage in military action against the regime. They prefer a shi’a Iran to a democratic, non-islamic Iran. You have to understand that the vast majority of americans are done fighting foreign wars and politicians know this. trump is going to do what he thinks is popular period. that’s all he cares about.
