New in PJ Media:
You’ve seen the memes. “We Need to Start Worrying About What Kind of World We Are Going to Leave for Keith Richards.” “For Every Cigarette You Smoke, God Takes an Hour Away From Your Life and Gives It to Keith Richards.” “These Are the Daughters of Keith Richards. When They Die, He Will Inherit Everything.” But now the Rolling Stones have called off their 2026 tour, and the reason why suggests that the indomitable Keef may not be quite as indestructible as we had hoped.
Variety reported Tuesday that the Stones, who released their first album on April 17, 1964, when Joe Biden was a student at the University of Delaware and Nancy Pelosi was just a year out of college, “have called off plans for a 2026 stadium tour of the United Kingdom and Europe.” The cancellation appears related to physical difficulties that Keith Richards is suffering.
Richards will be 82 years old on Thursday. He’s only a year younger than Old Joe Biden. Apparently, Richards is “unable to commit to the rigors of another tour. Live dates in recent years have shown that he has faced challenges due to a long battle with arthritis, which he has called ‘benign’ and said has forced him to change his style of playing.” Variety notes that Richards “was in fine form during a brief three-song performance at the Soho Sessions in New York last month,” but three songs is “a much different proposition than a multi-country, multi-week tour.”
The Sun quoted an unnamed “American music critic” Monday, saying that “the Rolling Stones had all the big promoters throwing loads of ideas and dates at them for next summer. But when they properly sat down to discuss the tour, Keith said he didn’t think he could commit and wasn’t keen on a big stadium tour for over four months.” Meanwhile, an unnamed spokesperson for the band commented: “The band were looking to tour earlier this year but couldn’t make it work either. It’s hard for their fans but The Stones will get back onstage when they’re good and ready.”
Maybe they will, but the realities of the passage of time ultimately catch up with all of us, even Keith Richards. The Stones, says Variety, “have toured nearly every year since the early 2000s, in increasingly small itineraries as the three principals — Mick Jagger, 82, Ron Wood, 78, and Richards — have grown older; original drummer Charlie Watts died in 2021 and was replaced by longtime Richards collaborator Steve Jordan.”
Would they go out without Richards? That would be like touring without Jagger: It simply wouldn’t be the Rolling Stones, any more than Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr could go on tour together calling themselves the Beatles.

There’s so little jihad in the world now that we resort to posting about the rolling stones ?

The rolling stones are still alive is that important news ? It is like if the best maker of English horse riding saddles maker was still alive and making saddles! How does that effect the world at large in 2025 going into 2026 ???If I do not ride horses using an traditional English saddles why would I would care a fig that the best maker of them is above ground still making very expense saddles for a small rich selected group of people who used them???Yes the maker of buggy horse whips is coming out with a new line next month! I am 0ver 65 years old this is not jihad watch news worthy what about the poor souls who will still be alive 30 years from now ,I will be a pile of bones in the ground by that times. Address topics that matter not space BS topics to round off the news cycle.

If you read to the end, Mr. Spencer references the changes in society from when the Stones, the Beatles, the Who, and others seemed to sing for everyone. Now, society is fractured, nothing is holding it together.
And the politics are driving people apart.
He didn’t say it, but had the muzzies been so bold and active back in the beginning of rock n roll, so *everywhere*, there may not have been any Rolling Stones to survive; nor The Who, The Beatles, etc. The rise of illslime would have killed all of it.

I actually disagree w/ Robert here. I do think that if Paul and Ringo got together and went on any tour, they’d be fully justified in using the Beatles brand name, given that John and George are dead! If one of the members of the original group is either deceased or disabled, I don’t think that the rest of the group is automatically disallowed from using the group name

The Moodies have lost members, but they are still The Moody Blues.
There are bands where the original members either left or died, and the others kept the name.
It would be interesting if Paul and Ringo toured together. Two Beatles…Fab Two?

Do either of them still tour? I thought that age had caught up w/ them

Yes, yes they do Paul’s voice is a little age-shaky.

Alas, still plenty of Jihad, and Robert Spencer does indeed write about it–at least a half dozen stories from his pen a day, day in and day out, and then he edits about a half dozen more by other writers. Your idea that he is somehow prevented from writing about any other subject, though, is mistaken.

Glad I saw them back in 1995.
All the best to Keith.
