Pope Leo XIV has now made his political views abundantly clear, to the sorrow of all those who had hoped he might be more insightful and courageous than Pope Francis. “…I wish to send a warm and fatherly greeting to all Christians, especially those living in the Middle East, whom I recently visited on my first Apostolic Journey. I listened to them as they expressed their fears and know well their sense of powerlessness before the power dynamics that overwhelm them….
When those Christians he met in Turkey, Lebanon, and Syria “expressed their fears” to him, did they explain exactly what those fears were — the fear of being persecuted by Muslims and being forced, for their own well-being, to leave their homes and move to safety in Europe and North America?
“I remember in a special way our brothers and sisters in Sudan, South Sudan, Mali, Burkina Faso and the Democratic Republic of Congo.”…
But why didn’t Pope Leo explain why he “remembers them in a special way”? All he had to say was this: “I remember our persecuted brothers and sisters, the Christians in Sudan, South Sudan, Mali, Burkina Faso and the Democratic Republic of Congo.” He need not have mentioned who those persecutors are. Everyone — save apparently Pope Leo — knows who they are.
“In becoming man, Jesus took upon himself our fragility, identifying with each one of us: … with those who are fleeing their homeland to seek a future elsewhere, like the many refugees and migrants who cross the Mediterranean or traverse the American continent…
Pope Leo talks admiringly of those “fleeing their homeland to seek a future elsewhere,” including “migrants who cross the Mediterranean.” He makes them sound so noble, so deserving of our sympathy. But the truth is otherwise. Those economic migrants, overwhelmingly Muslim, are leaving, not “fleeing” their homes in order to go to Western Europe, where they know they will be able to batten on all the benefits the generous welfare states of Europe provide.
Once they manage to smuggle themselves into Europe, they are provided with free or greatly subsidized housing, free medical care, free education including vocational training and language tuition, family allowances, and more. Given all that, they are in no hurry to seek gainful employment. Many of them add to their incomes by engaging in criminal activities — street muggings, house burglaries, auto theft, shoplifting, drug trafficking.
Muslim migrants also commit a great many sexual assaults and rapes, for they see non-Muslim girls as “easy meat.” In the U.K. alone, Muslim grooming gangs have claimed tens of thousands of victims, young girls who were seduced, raped, and then handed around to various Muslim men like so much human confetti. But Pope Leo wants to see these immigrants as deserving of our sympathy and our open doors. He refuses to distinguish between good immigrants and bad. In his eyes, they are all deserving, to be welcomed wherever they choose to go. He doesn’t believe in the nation-state, but in a world that belongs to everyone. And he has no sympathy for people in the Western world who would like to keep out Muslim migrants who, they now know from experience, have made their own lives so much more unpleasant, more expensive, and physically more dangerous, than would be the case without their presence. The well-being of Europeans, and the very survival of Western civilization, seem not to matter to Pope Leo.
Pope Leo swells the chorus of those lamenting the “suffering” in Gaza, without giving the slightest hint of how the Gaza war started, and how Hamas embeds itself within the general population of the Strip in order to increase civilian casualties. He could have said something about this: “I call on Hamas to put down its weapons, stop holding the Gazans hostage, and allow the rebuilding of Gaza to begin.” But he didn’t. He could also have said something about Israel: “We declare our solidarity with our Jewish brothers, who deserve to live in peace in their ancestral homeland” and “who are being scandalously maligned by those with a pathological hatred of Jews.” But he didn’t. And he won’t. He is, you see, Bernie Sanders in a cassock and pallium.

Thank you for your comments with regard to the pub yes sadly what you say is so true while I’m not an Anglican as such I’m a Christian but I do go from time to time to an Anglican communion I noticed in the sermon recently in administer referring to praying for Gaza and it seems to be a view that is held by many of the liberal clergy catholic and Protestant blessings to all and a happy faith filled year ahead✝️

I would compare your second statement to a family: if the only father is abusive, tormenting and torturing his wife and children, the family is better off without him.
If there are people in the Catholic organization who want to please God, they should try to get back to following Christ in how they attempt to shepherd the flock.
Better to be isolated from Rome than to stay on the course the two recent popes have been following.

Yes it looks like a communist style block public building built in the 1966 -1972 range in the old Soviet Union. The local people that live near it hate it .It is ironic the “Obamas” live in a New England coastal area extra white area compound over a thousand miles from Chicago and have another mansion place in Hawaii. Obama has said little about how to improve or given the Chicago elected leaders any advice to solve their sky murder rate ,crime rate ,businesses leaving and the general chaos of that city. Chicago has had only democratic mayors for over 80 years running it. A potted plant of poison ivy would win a race for Chicago mayor over a republican .

Thus far, this God-bless-King-Billy Protestant is with the Pope. But I will part company on a number of his other views. I will disagree with most of Israel and confess that M’shiach has come; but I will by no means ever countenance that they deserved the events of Oct. 7, or that they do not have the right to protect themselves.
As for Muslim immigration, when the topic comes up in conversations with Muslim students or colleagues, I will admit that we share the view thatGod must be taken on his terms rather than ours, and that there is a day of judgment. But at the same time, there is a great difference in how we understand God’s Word and ways–including how we see the sacrifice of Christ on the cross and his resurrection as crucial [pun intended] to our salvation [and a lot of other beliefs]. Further, I stand with JW and a growing number of people in the West who believe that the West must be re-Christianized and stand up for itself. And, with a nod to R. Hillel, “If I am not for myself, who shall be for me? If not now, when?”
