Contrary to the inflammatory title of the Middle East Eye article below, Israeli Minister Itamar Ben Gvir is not trying to ban the Islamic call to prayer (adhan), but to restrict it. The bill deems its noise level “unreasonable.”
The adhan is particularly disruptive at dawn before sunrise. It translates to this:
Allahu akbar (Allah is greater)
I bear witness there is none worthy of worship except Allah
I bear witness Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah
Come to Prayer
Come to Success
Allahu akbar (Allah is greater)
There is none worthy of worship except Allah
The adhan when it is broadcast over loudspeakers is not just a blaring public summons to ensure that every Muslim can hear it, over and above all other sounds. It’s a declaration of supremacy, both in its content and in its sheer volume.
Even in Saudi Arabia, “families had been complaining that competing speakers were keeping their children awake.” And so, Saudi Arabia defended an order in 2021 to turn down the volume of the adhan.
So why should Israel, a country that jihadis torment on a daily basis, endure it? The religious freedoms of Muslims are already respected in Israel, but such freedoms bring no license to impose upon others.
There are some who assert that if church bells are allowed, so also should the adhan be allowed. This irrational argument dismisses the fact that church bells are simply the sound of bells, not loudly asserted statements of the supremacy and victory of one religion over all others. Church bells are not disruptive. The same thing could also be said for the blowing of the shofar.
“Israel’s Ben Gvir pushes bill to ban Islamic call to prayer,” by Lubna Masarwa, Middle East Eye, December 28, 2025:
Israeli minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s party is advancing new legislation to restrict the Islamic call to prayer in mosques.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Jewish Power party said it was working on a bill that would ban the call to prayer unless it is licensed by the state.
Approval would depend on criteria set by the authorities, including volume levels, noise-reduction measures, a mosque’s location, its proximity to residential areas and the impact on nearby residents.
The draft law was submitted by National Security Committee chair Zvika Fogel and seeks to curb what he described as the “unreasonable noise” of the muezzin, the person who calls Muslims to prayer.
Palestinian citizens of Israel have condemned the proposed bill, rejecting claims that mosque calls to prayer constitute a noise problem.
They say the legislation is another manifestation of the Israeli government’s push to erase Palestinian religious and cultural identity.
“This is not about noise. The call to prayer is not noise,” Khaled Zabarqa, a Lod-based human rights lawyer and activist, told Middle East Eye….
Truth teller says
The so called Muslim call to prayer is actually a statement of conquest. Don’t allow it. Just the opposite. It must be eradicated.

Totally agree.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Ben-Gvir is perfectly right. On one hand, he – and all Jews – are not allowed to even silently pray at the Wailing Wall. Yet, the same country is expected to allow muslims to blast the azaan over loudspeakers. Same issue had been confronted in India since 2 years now
I admire this man the most – even ahead of Bibi. One thing about him – he lives near Hebron, so all the Gentilesplaining that the US and the EU do to Israel can be more effectively refuted by him, since he lives it! I also like his timed responses to the US: like when Trump suggested a complete evacuation of Gaza and its rebuilding, he was among the first to welcome it
Given the political turmoil that Bibi is under, I do think that he should retire as prime minister, and that the Likud coalition elects Ben-Gvir as its prime minister. He is the closest thing to Menachem Begin since…. Yitzhak Shamir

So true.
Falsafa says
Ben Gvir is a war criminal and will soon be arrested and made to answer for his crimes before the ICJ in the Hague.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Just for living near Hebron, which is traditional Jewish land? You might as well arrest a Saudi politician who lives in or near Medina
somehistory says
More “false” stuff from the muzzie.
Michael says
Eat shit and die, pestilential camel jockey.
Michael says
And now for your serious answer: Israel doesn’t give a good goddamn about the ICJ, and neither does any moral and intelligent human being. Is some communist twat of a lawyer going to drag him there? They have nukes, fool.
Now go jump on a camel, Falsifier.

I see that the pro-Hamas “Falsafa” is again saying that Jews have no right to defend against Jihad terrorists. Try again.
Falsafa says
Typical retarded red necks and friends spewing their fascist drivel. I rest my case.
somehistory says
There are numerous nations where Jews and Christians are restricted from even building a place of worship, entering a place of worship or repairing a place of worship.
( the dam muzzie in NYC was attempting to define what is allowed inside a synagogue by saying they were breaking international law )
Yet, Israel has to allow muzzies to, not only have many barracks, but those must be allowed to disturb others with their…****noise**** x number of times a day, every day and at unreasonable times of day.
If I ran Israel (and thankfully for me, I don’t) There would be no muzzies, no muzzie barracks, nor their awful shrieking in the Land.
If muzzie nations can so restrict the people who worship the God of the Bible that they are not allowed to have Bibles, home study of the Bible, nor safely wear anything identifying them as a religious person, then Israel should be able to kick the vermin out….way out.
John1 says
If synagogues started blasting from loudspeakers, say, the 23rd psalm, or churches started blasting, say, the Lord’s Prayer from loudspeakers 5x a day, the Muslims would start rioting…..
somehistory says
And then the shooting could commence. If Israel conducted business like Israel did way back…Joshua at Jericho….Rahab told the spies that her city had heard about how Israel’s God was saving them, helping them fight..
.David against the philistines…Jehu and the evil jezebel…
Too much evil is allowed.
.
James Lincoln says
According to the feature article:
“Israeli minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s party is advancing new legislation to restrict the Islamic call to prayer in mosques.”
A better idea would be to ban all muslims and all mosques from all of Israel – including Judea and Samaria.
No muslim work permits – nothing.
somehistory says
James, they could ask, What would Joshua do? What would King David do?
Michael says
Now we’re talking, splendid idea!

Israel: Ben Gvir calls to restrict broadcast of Islamic call to prayer over loudspeakers: ‘unreasonable noise’
………………………………………
And, as noted, screams Islamic supremacy and hatred of all non-Muslims. Shut it down.
Siddi Nasrani says
My solution would be, only use the human voice to call to prayer.
Reason being, the use of Electricity, Electrical wiring, Amplifiers & LOUD Speakers, were not invented in 6th Century when Muhammad was alive, so therefore it is ” Haram ”
PS if you want to get up in time use your alarm clock or phone.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
No need for that. There are plenty of azaan phone apps, and observant muslims, be it in Israel, Judea or Samaria can use those. There is no reason for any noise, be it at 3am or even daytime hours, calling the “faithful” to prayer. Those who want to do it can check their phones, and get on their knees come that time
Martia Katz says
Time for all of Israel to get behind Ben Gvir and Moshe Feiglin who are true patriots and follow Torah.
Jamie says
IF everything was perfect under Mohammed then no loudspeakers, just the human voice. Church bells at least in my community have not been enhanced in my lifetime.
Jekabzeel says
God is greater than Allah.
He is the God of gods.
I bear witness that God alone is worthy of worship.
I bear witness that Allah is unworthy of worship.
I bear witness that Mohammed is the False Prophet.
God is greater than Allah.
“Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.”
“For there is none besides Him, neither is there any Rock like our God.”

by their fruits shall you know them
–these comments are getting absurd
Princess says
He is being unfairly vilified. There are politicians whom I’ve approached with a certain skepticism after their media appearances. Take Nigel Farage, for example. After hearing his words directly and unfiltered from media, they made perfect sense to me. I’ve seen Ben Gvir in several television interviews, and he, too, often presents convincing arguments that make sense. Another Israeli politician I admire is Tali Gottlieb. I greatly appreciate her directness. She understands the situation Israel is facing.
Falsafa says
Israel is a fake country built on stolen land, overpopulated by zionist colonial settlers funded by imperialist western billionaires. From the river to the sea Palestine shall one day be free. The current Israeli government will one day be brought up for criminal charges before the International Criminal Court. Until that day comes no one complicit in the genocide of the Palestinians will have a days rest, free of worry.
